Very, very good movie...don't know if they could've done that much better, to be honest...

It had it's cheezy parts and a few characters that left you scratching your head, but they had enough action to satisfy, enough old-school Transformer lines and actions to keep the diehards happy, and a lot of really (really) amusing lines. Shia Lebouf does a very good job, in my opinion...

Hearing the voices of Starscream and Optimus Prime took the cake for me...

Out of 4-stars, I'd give it 3.5...

I went with a group lat night of fans...

We all hated the movie actually...

I take that back... as a movie itself it was ok... but a movie trying to show the legacy that is tranformers didn't work out so well.

CG was terrible and nothing looked real...

I really really hate to say that. We didnt come home until 2 A.M. but the movie was too long and there really wasent any action until the last 20 min... that part wasent even well done....

Thats just my opinion

Please tell us what you mean by this, because that's a very important statement to a longtime fan like me.

Not surprising. You can see that in the trailers.

I still think they should have gone for a slick cartoon or even let Pixar do something vs. an approach like this.

CGI has come a long ways to be sure, but I don't think it can carry a film yet nor do I think it can be confused for "real."

That sucks if that's really how it goes down. No action until the last 20 minutes?! In this?! This thing should be wall to wall nonstop action right from the beginning!

Q my bf is a Huge transformers fan...

And the way he explained it to me is this...

"They didn't carry the concept of tranformers. While robots like O. Prim and Megatron were pretty close, it wasent the true tranformers way. They made a decent movie...as a movie. They shouldent have called it Tranformers... it wasent good enough to follow that legacy. They should have just called it 'A movie where robots transform'."

Basically I just thought that they werent being true to Transformers, and didnt know their robots...

It's worth seeing... unless you are going as a transformers fan... If not wait for the DVD

Your BF's reaction matches what my concerns for this over the last year have been going into it. I suspect he's right.

His reaction also matches feedback I've seen from a good number of other "longtime die hard TF fans" so I'm going to brace myself.

It certainly doesn't surprise me.

Your statements take it a step further though with this "no action until the last 20 minutes" which just boggles my mind. At the very least, I was expecting a wild adrenaline ride where you just happened to have transforming robots in it, even if it wasn't super loyal to Transformers canon.

They do transform, but its like they are standing around talking...

The movie is pretty funny, but there was soo much information that they tried to cram into it that there were little bouts of action... but it wasent non stop.

The beginning lik 10 min.... but nothing else really...

They also tried to incoperate a band or special forces Army guys into it..

Disaster...

But movie was funny

I care not to see it, until it comes out on DVD.

I didn't like the cartoon Transformers, so I'm not a fan at all of the franchise. Which probably means I would enjoy the film a little bit more (same with the Spidey films).

Yup, you're someone who I've taken on the other side of the issue. I said "a lot" not ALL TF fans felt a certain way about the film. ;)

It'd be interesting to see if the negative folks are the old timers like me that actually grew up with this stuff back in the 80's or not, by and large.

My opinnion: I think the film was made for people who were already Transformers fans and already knew about alot of the characters and the whole story. There are alot of unexplained characters, cheezy moments and confusing unexplainations that a person who knew nothing about Transformers whould not understand.

Luckily, I'm a Transformers fan. So I loved it.

And, yes, there is alot of useless talk at the begining that could have made good room for some Decepticon/Autobot action.

Optimus Prime: Megatron!
Megatron: Prime!

Ironhide: LOOK OUT, IT'S STARSREAM!

^^ Those lines made my day,

Newsflash: Not disappointing!!!

Could it have been better? Of course. Did it suck? Fuck no. It was damn sure entertaining, except for the kid behind me kicking the chair for half the film.

SPOILER TALK:

Apparently one of the jets that shot Megatron was Starscream, and apparently it shows Starscream flying into space at the very end.

Response to Spoiler Talk

I didn't see Starscream shoot Megatron(wasn't hard to miss), but I did see him fly off into space. Also, Prime's monologue at the end where he was calling to any AutoBots still out there, he said that they were there and waiting. Waiting for what? Plus, it stands to reason that if there are more AutoBots out there, there would likely be more Decepticons. On top of that, Megatron can't be "dead", we didn't get the epic battle between him and Prime.

More Spoiler Talk:

Yeah. I also read that Barricade and Scorpinok survived (which would make sense because it never did show Barricade die... and Scorpinok did escape into the ground). The sequel will also introduce Hot Rod (autobot) and Soundwave (decepticon), so that should be cool. And yeah, they'll probably find and revive Megatron aswell.

I hope to see one more Transformers film. I saw it again last night and was, again, very impressed...I still say I'm not too sure how much better they could've realistically done with it...

As for the spoiler talk, I say bring in Unicron...that'd be tight. Hearing the rumor of Soundwave in 2 is great news...

I'd like to see the DINOBOTS! Me Grimlock say that not having the dinobots in the second Transformers movie would be suck!
