Saw the trailer, and it's about what I expected, MTV's insulting imitation of 'Xtreme Wrestling'... No soul, no substance just a bunch of kids who will be lucky to live past the age of thirty and over the hill grifters who've somehow convinced the promoters that they're still worth something... Throw in a ready made crowd, some stupid looking props and explosions and there's your thirty minute fix. If this truly is the 'future of wrestling', count me out. |

Since it's MTV, that 99.999999 percent of the time guaranteed the nadir of suckdom, but here's the sad irony: As big and as wealthy and influential as MTV still is: If they WANTED to, they could help be a strong backbone to a pro wrestling organization. It COULD work if it were actually handled worth a damn. Imagine this bunch combineed with TNA and some real ownership and some real writers and people that know what they're doing and give a damn. Imagine me waking up now... ;) |

After all the hype and talk, a third national wrestling product will air in the United States for the first time since the late 1990s when WWF, WCW, and ECW all battled for cable ratings weekly. The first episode of MTV Wrestling Society X will air tonight at at 11 PM Eastern in a preview of sorts. All of the promotion by MTV is pointing towards the series' "official premiere" this Tuesday. Tonight's episode will feature Jack Evans vs. Matt Sydal, a musical performance by Black Label Society performance, and an Over the Top Rope Elimination/Ladder Bout with 2 WSX contracts for a WSX championship bout suspended above the ring featuring Vampiro, Six Pac (Sean Waltman), Teddy Hart, New Jack, Youth Suicide, Kaos, Puma, Al Katrazz, Justin Credible, and Chris Hamrick. Hamrick, Jack, and Credible will not be appearing beyond this episode (at least for WSX's first season). |

Well, I'm tuned into MTV right now awaiting the show. This isn't gonna be an easy show to watch, even if it's semi decent, MTV is the single biggest abomination in the US of A now, or ever and everyone associated with it deserves to die an extremely slow and painful death of some kind. They've ruined music, brainwashed an entire generation, and have turned into complete corporate sellout duechebags (the fans are fucking pre-selected for fucks sake). .. and that's probably their good qualities. |

This is the pilot, so I'll let it slide. So far, not impressed though. For what it was, the spotfest Sydal/Evans match was mildly entertaining in a "you won't see this on WWE" way. And hell, I like both guys anyway ;) |

Sydal and Evans are cool guys. If I want to see either one though, I can just check out any notable indy or Japanese fed. I gave the show a look, it was everything I thought it was going to be. MTV's lame attempt at 'comedy' at the expense of pro-wrestling fans. I am now putting the aforementioned channel it airs on, back onto my Direct TV 'blocked list'.... Ah, that's better. And all is right with the world... again. :P |

I caught the end of that battle royal...definitely different...depending on how the whole viewing experience is on Tuesdays, I can see myself potentially being brainwashed into watching it every week...much the same way I always end up watching Real World, The Duel, and Two-a-Days |

I'll watch it because it's 30 minutes. The highspots I can take, even when done with such absurdness. Explosions and piranhas? Yeah, well that's just stupid. The season spoilers did seem to indicate that the show gets better throughout the season. Afterall, the pilot that we saw last night was taped a good few months before the rest of the season. And supposedly, the fans at the rest of the shows are actual wrestling fans. |

Well, I just finished watching the whole episode... I kinda liked it, guys. It's wildly different from anything else out there and they've got some damn good talent. I have never claimed to not enjoy spotfests...Spotfests are fun if you know that's what you are in for. WSX is one big spotfest. I know I'm not going to see a 2-minute chinlock during a 4-minute match in this promotion. Hell, the ratings did well, too. It's gotten positive reviews. I hope this thing sticks around for awhile. I actually want to see the show next week. With Raw, i've gotten to the point where I'm just hoping it's not terrible... |

Tonight's edition of MTV Wrestling Society X features: *Vampiro vs. 6-Pac for the WSX championship *Team Dragon Gate vs. That 70s Team *The Human Tornado vs. Luke Hawxx *The debut of the Trailer Park Boyz, Kaos, Aguilera, Teddy Hart and more. In many ways, tonight is the most important night when it comes to the existence of MTV's Wrestling Society X. After hitting a 1.0 last week for their official debut (against ECW's 1.7 rating no less), tonight should begin to tell the story as to whether the company can deliver viewers on a regular basis or if it was a one night curiosity rating. With only 10 episodes produced, more so than any other wrestling TV series, it is imperative that WSX generate and deliver a regular fan following. If they want to survive for a longer run and not be the 2007 version of the AWF (remember them?), the ratings need to tell that tale. The good news is that the second episode is a big improvement over last week's debut, which was originally taped as a pilot. The look of the show, now taped at a Hollywood sound stage, is much improved and feels more like the ECW Arena than an episode of Battledome. The reaction shots of the audience, done to edit matches, did not seem as over the top or obvious. Is it perfect? No, but what production is? The company continues to brand itself well and feels different, which is the key to building an alternative product. You also really get the feel of the "fad wrestling" style that WSX has created on the second episode - all highspots, fast edits, quick promos, and lots of sizzle. The episode moves quickly and features several entertaining matches in a new, fresh, hip style. Human Tornado vs. Luka Hawxx is a fun match, as is Team Dragon Gate vs. That 70s Team. There's a great promo piece introducing The Trailer Park Boyz (Nate Webb and Josh Abercrombie) who do a great job with their personas (former XPW star Johnny Webb is perfectly cast as their mentor, as well). Vampiro vs. Sean Waltman is what you would expect but it does feature another explosion during the bout with a creative twist that has never been seen on American television. There are also some interesting wrinkles introduced by the end of the episode, including the declaration that all WSX matches are Falls Count Anywhere. While it's different, it will be interesting to see if they make less mean more or if they will go overboard with lots of cutesy finishes in the future. There also seemed to be thought put into some of the extracurricular weapons like tables and ladders - instead of being conveniently hidden under the ring, they populate the bunker for easy access and use by the combatants. Simple, but different and it beats the hell out of bringing things out in a shopping cart. By the end of the episode, again, I was interested in seeing the third week. - Mike Johnson @ PWInsider.com |

Yeah, so WSX is just a fun little show. It's nothing to attempt to take serious, but it is fun to watch. I wish them all the best, especially considering if they do well against ECW it's going to force McMahon to up to the quality of (and this weeks ECW was worse than last weeks, which was good). Consider me a WSX fan. |

Thru the first two weeks...consider me a WSX fan, as well... They build up their matches a week in advance...you can't normally say that for any WWE show...or TNA for that matter... WSX is a fun 30-minutes...nothing more, nothing less... |

You know, I caught another episode of this on MTV two, which is a slightly less abhorrent channel than MTV. I've got to say, I might have been a little harsh on this show. For one thing the spots are nowhere near CZW levels of stupidity. They are all so supervised and staged that a person would be more likely to get hurt falling out of bed than into one of their 'xplosions'.... That being said, this show is still completely stupid, but in a funny way. I hate to have to put my foot in my mouth like this, but for some ungodly reason, I'm actually liking this horseshit too. |
