HBK vs. Taker?

It'd be hot, but where'd that come from?

Not sure, but if they are the last two guys in the Rumble, surely one of them would be facing a champion at 'Mania.

I thought this PPV was really good...

Umaga-Cena was very good and the last 8-minutes of the Rumble made that match great...Hardys vs. MNM was a nice opener...Those three matches made my money well spent...

I enjoyed it. Only parts I didn't care for was the Repetative headbutts from Khali, but that complaint was quickly dismissed when Taker came out, eliminated him and he and HBK made one hell of a Rumble ending!!!

Well, that and the fact that Ariel didn't come out with Thorn, but that was expected I guess.

I agree about the LMS match. It was nice.

Sounds like this might be a good download down the road. The results alone don't have anything that make want to save the event for posterity. I'm happy for Taker and all, but at this point in his career him winning the rumble is just kind of like Donald Trump winning the Lottery. I guess you could've said the same for HBK, but he's just been on fire lately and that made me root for him.

Raw has yet to switch away from anything that leads me to believe they aren't going to do the sensible thing in Cena/HBK though so at the very least tonight's Rumble results don't have anything that make me go WTF were they thinking either, other than all faces winning, which I guess is a nice thing to do every now and then.

Tonight since I didn't get to see this I watched the 1998 Rumble instead. Man that old bald guy was over back in the day wasn't he?

Maybe not the best Rumble from an in ring standpoint but the psychology of revolving the match around the Rattlesnake was damn brilliant and I gotta admit, I still marked out like a motherfucker when he won, even though I knew it was coming. Not to mention the Foley trifecta was a nice little touch too.

^^ Yeah 98 Rumble kicked ass.

Funny thing is: If Austin walks out on RAW tomorrow night, he's STILL one of the most over guys there is.

This sounds like it was a decent PPV. I figured it was either going to be HBK or Taker winning it and I like the fact that they were the last two guys.

So since Taker won, he has his choice to face whomever he wants at Mania for the title. So...does he go after Batista and stay on SD? (Most likely) or does he bolt to RAW?

I still think they'd be fools to not go with Cena-HBK and Batista-Taker in a gimmick match (please!) to headline WM. After that you need at least 1-2 compelling interpromotional matches, especially since you have a third brand now, and work your way down from there.

Footnote: One just has to wonder when the outright mutiny against Khali is going to happen in that lockerrom. He's product killer in the worst form possible.

Idiots: Khali, Umaga, MVP, and The Miz do not replace the likes of a Chris Jericho, Kurt Angle, HHH, and Eddie Guerrero!

Age or not, HBK and Taker are arguably still the best overall talent and biggest stars on the current, active roster. At this rate, I'm all for either one of them, or both, winning their respective shows' titles for one final swan song before one or both of them retires. Why the hell not? Cena has had that belt forever despite a brief and obligatory Edge breakup and Batista? His 15 minutes of fame have to be up soon, if not already depending on who you talk to.

Why not have the 5 star vets a glory run out of WrestleMania? You could sure as hell do worse. I just wonder if the fans are going to settle and buy watching Batista and Cena both walk out of WrestleMania as winners with the belts yet again, especially if they go against the likes of Taker and HBK? I can't say I would.

The 2nd era of Y2J has begun
That Umage/Cena match was awesome. Im surprised by Umaga, he did a really good job.

The Rumble itself was pretty awesome too. I especially liked Thorn's role in the match. And the respect Taker and HBK showed eachother stole the match for me. Punk's role was complete shit, he did barely any offence and was nothing but Edge's and Finlay's bitch.

All in all, save the ECW match, this year's Rumble was a damn fine PPV.

Q while I don't thin Umaga is worthy of the title shots, he put on a hell of a show with Cena last night.

As for Taker, it makes me wonder if they will pull a Brock Goldberg......They start feuding because of the Rumble Match, showing up on tv and PPv...with a big blowout at Wrestlemania. Maybe HBK, causes Taker to lose a match for his contract to wrestlemania.

Yeah I saw the match a little earlier today. Umaga's a pretty good big man I guess, but I still stand by my earlier comment that he and most especially the likes of Khali, Miz, and MVP do not replace the likes of a HHH, Angle, Jericho, and Eddie Guerrero.

I'm trying to track down the rest of this stuff as the day goes on.

Interesting.

Smackdown still has to put up No Way Out at first.

I guess if Taker were to ever allow his WM winning streak to be ended by someone, who better and with more respect and caliber could it be than HBK? I wouldn't completely rule this out, although I think I'd prefer it if Taker never saw that streak broken. That's just part of his mythos.

Who could replace those legends, though, Q?

Taker isn't going to lose his title shot, guys...
