That's awesome! I'm jealous...I thought I was gonna get to see a Chamber when NYR came to STL...but I guess not... My prediction: Test, Holly, Sandman, Show, RVD, Sabu... Supplement that w/ Knox vs. Punk...Pull the Foley card...Bring over Benoit to face an up and comer, too... The rest is old school ECW matches like CW vs. Dreamer, Tajiri vs. Crazy, etc... |

This tops my idea for a card considerably. I was going to include an EC in my original ECW fantasy picks, but, I thought at the time that it would depopulate the main event scene too much. That being said, this match pretty much sells the show by itself. If I don't catch the PPV, I will definitely be getting the DVD. Sandman going on a singapore cane rampage? Yes. Big Show getting to be a flat out monster inside this awe inspiring setting? Hell yes. Sabu/RVD just killing themselves with dare devil spots? Double Hell Yes. Hardcore/Test beating the bejesus out of each other? You damn skippy hippy, this is going to PWN~! Then you could still pull the Foley trump card, plus bring in Benoit, Super Crazy, or even Jeff Hardy from Raw/SD to be a part of the card somehow. Plus the matches already laid out. It looks like it could indeed be one hell of a show. |

Lady and gentlemen, the time has come to potentially re-evaluate the ECW brand... Ratings are horrible when compared to their 2.8 debut back in June... They are probably going to draw the worst PPV buyrate of the year because of the 2 announced matches for the show and the lack of established star power in the main-event... To me, it seems that WWE doesn't care about this brand. They care about CM Punk and Lashley, but they don't have a choice. Punk is arguably the most over babyface in the company outside of jOhn Cena...and lashley is a big guy with muscles and a load of potential. But 2 announced matches for PPV? No more house shows? From what I understand, they are locked into a TV deal that lasts until the end of '07. I'm fine with that because I enjoy the ECW product. But my God! 2 matches for a PPV? It's just not looking good... |

From week to week it's a contest of: "Which show can we care less about this week? SD or ECW?" |

I haven't watched the show consistently for well over a year. It might even be two years by now. I've honestly lost track. Does that tell YOU something? ;) |

Personally I see more potential in the ECW brand then Smackdown. Ratings would be higher had they chose a better network to be on. IF IT WAS ME: Merge Smackdown with ECW, Create just an ECW brand. Then just have a WWE vs. ECW. Have ECW and WWE be the only two brands. You can have your trades, etc. And you can have your wars. I would merge the World Title and the ECW title, and bring Smackdown tag, cruiser, and U.S. championships to ECW. This way you have two balanced shows/brands. You can go back to a two brand ppv format, strip the calender amount down, put ECW on the CW network, and make the rosters even. You do that, and you will have a balance, and i guarantee a winner. |

Yup. The usual disclaimer: None of the above matters without good booking and good writing. |

That doesn't surprise me. I know countless of WWE fans who don't even know what SD is. Honestly, I think a small part of it is the atmosphere. The blue makes SD look like the kitten brand, and I hate the lighting.
Such a simple idea....yet so brilliant. I wish it where up to you, Snowman. I really, really do. |

Probably doesn't help, but what hurts SD is, IMO, being taped and airing many days after the fact. That reeks of afterthought right off the bat vs. live RAW every Monday night. Secondly: Friday night is a dead zone for TV shows. Always has been. Always will be. Kiss of death. You send a show to Fridays to get rid of it and kill it off. See Star Trek in the 60's. See CBS Threshold last year, and see Fox's recent Vanished from this year. Countless examples. It doesn't help when it's pretty much admitted constantly that RAW is the "flagship show" and the rest of it. It's very obvious that it's RAW and then "everyone else."

Here is what I would do..... Have Paul Heyman try and take over Smackdown. Have him challenge Teddy Long to 3 matches at Wrestlemania. The winner of 2 outta 3 wins the others brand. ECW Wins the first, Smackdown the second, then the third, a MONEY IN THE BANK match is won by ECW, and ECW wins Smackdown. ECW takes over Smackdown, the time slot, the set, the dates, everything. The rosters are merged. Teddy Long then goes to Raw to GM there. |

That's a great idea... The major knock on that idea in the summer of 2005, when all kinds of columns were springing up talking about bringing back ECW was that the ECW style wouldn't be tolerated on network TV. Well, I think the Sci-Fi experiment has shown that ECW is just fine in it's new, not so violent form. I'd love to see it happen... But it won't... |
