NWO? No thanks.

Los Boriquas?

Yes please.

I wish they'd do more 4 on 4 matches at Survivor Series, instead of just one or two. That used to be one of the most FUN events of the year when I was kid. You'd have entire teams made up of lower card and mid card guys and sometimes big feuds could be produced out of the matches. (Owen/Bret anyone?) Now though, it's just another event.. Nothing special about it besides the fact that its one of the "Big Four" and might include one or two traditional matches... If they aren't willing to make things the way they used to be then at the very least they could add something to the one or two matches they do have. Perhaps make it into a Raw vs SD! War Games encounter with two rings, and classic War Games rules.

Maybe I should stop living in the past. But then again, the past > the present, so fuck that.

So you guys want to see War Games? Well, here's the closest indication that we've seen yet that they'll at least be doing something potentially different at Survivor Series...

After last year’s Survivor Series featured a battle of the brands in a Classic Survivor Series Match between Team SmackDown and Team RAW, did you really think that the annual Thanksgiving season pay-per-view would roll around again without ECW trying to crash the party? Yea, we didn’t either. So it came as no surprise when WWE.com was informed that the ECW Extremists will be looking for their piece of the action in Philadelphia on November 26.

The details of ECW’s involvement in Survivor Series are still unclear, but we do know for certain that the Extremists will be in the building and that it will be RAW vs. SmackDown vs. ECW when the second longest running pay-per-view in WWE history celebrates its 20th anniversary. Will we still see a Classic Survivor Series elimination tag match, or will the involvement of a third brand bring about a new type of match stipulation?

The Extremists will be hoping to shake up the landscape of one of the biggest and most popular pay-per-views in WWE. Survivor Series has been the setting for many a classic WWE moment, and Paul Heyman’s extreme cult will storm into the Wachovia Center looking to replace WWE fans’ Survivor Series memories of Sharpshooters and Big Boots with tables, chairs and high-risk stunts.

They will have their work cut out for them, as Survivor Series 1997 is, even nine years later, one of the most talked about events in WWE history. That event is, of course, the infamous “Montreal Screwjob,” in which Bret Hart was cheated out of the WWE Championship when Mr. McMahon forced the timekeeper to “Ring the f***ing bell!”

The addition of ECW to the Survivor Series roster provides a wealth of excitement and unpredictability, but it will certainly not be the first big debut at the November pay-per-view. Kurt Angle, Undertaker and The Rock all got their first taste of WWE Superstardom at Survivor Series, and in 2002, WWE fans witnessed the type of carnage that the Extremists will hope to bring to Surivor Series with the unveiling of the Elimination Chamber.

Indeed it does.

A RAW vs. SmackDown vs. ECW match is way to big to be a normal Elimination Match. So I do hope for a WARGAMES style match, as I think it would work well.

Didn't the last WarGames feature 3 teams? Wolfpac-Hollywood-WCW?

Just got the random urge to make a Survivor Series card...

WAR GAMES: ECW (Big Show, RVD, Sabu, CM Punk, and Hardcore Holly) vs. Smackdown (Undertaker, Lashley, Mr. Kennedy, Batista, and King Booker) vs. Raw (John Cena, Edge, Randy Orton, Carlito, and Kane) - I think we're guarenteed to see something get going at the Raw Family Reunion...and it has pretty much been confirmed that this match will happen in some fashion...

DEGENERATION X vs. NEW WORLD ORDER - I'm sorry, but the WWE would be foolish not to bring in Hogan (who reportedly wants to wrestle at this PPV), Hall, and Nash and put them up against HBK, HHH, and X-Pac. One night only, folks...that's all it needs to be...I don't think the NWO would be a long-term storyline...but it'd be fun to see it in the short term. Bad match? Ugly match? Nah...I doubt it...they've done a great job booking DX's matches since their return...each one has been a solid 3-stars or better...

Extreme Rules Match: Sandman, Tommy Dreamer, and Balls Mahoney vs. Test, Mike Knox, and Kevin Thorn - They've had these feuds going for a long time, and with a one-hour show it shouldn't be too hard to keep it going until November. Survivor Series could use a bloody brawl to hype the ECW PPV that comes up soon after this event.

Chavo Guerrero vs. Rey Mysterio (If Rey loses, he removes his mask) - They haven't been down that road with Rey yet...and while they never should de-mask him, it'd be a nice way to keep this feud going just a little longer to have him put his mask on the line...and win this match...then get attacked so he can go deal with his injury.

Women's Champion Lita vs. Mickie James - It'd be foolish not to try and get the women's title off to a fresh new start with this feud. Both women can go to a certain extent and have already shown in their match from Raw (where Lita won the title) that they can have a strong bout.

IC Champion Johnny Nitro vs. Shelton Benjamin vs. Jeff Hardy - This would be a great opener, especially if it gets a lot of time...

Now, can someone please tell me how the War Games match works?

The WarGames Match consisted of two teams of either four or five men each facing off with each other in staggered entry format.

The setup of the cage consisted of two rings side by side with a giant ring-encompassing cage that covered both rings, but not the ringside area. Doors were placed at far corners of the rectangular cage so the two teams didn't come into contact before they were supposed to.

The match began with one member of each team entering the cage. After five minutes, a member from one of the teams (determined by coin toss) would enter the cage, giving his team the temporary handicap advantage. After two minutes, a member from the other team would enter to even the odds. Entrants alternated between teams every two minutes, giving the coin toss-winning team the temporary advantage in the numbers game before giving the other team the advantage with the freshest man and even odds.

Once all eight or ten men (depending on team size) had entered the cage, what was referred to as "the match beyond" began. Both teams would brawl in the cage for as long as it took until a member of either team submitted, surrendered, or was knocked unconscious. There was no pinfall and no disqualification, which often led to brutal and bloody confrontations.

(And no, I didn't write that.)

BTW, it was every 2 mins.

Just watched the one from 91 last night on the Brain Pillman DVD.

AND FYI:

LOP.com:

To eliminate any confusion or correct any erroneous reports floating around the internet, Eric Bischoff’s appearance last night on RAW was a one-time thing. That could always change, but as of today, there are no future appearances scheduled for Eric Bischoff with the company.

Well, it's November now...

Anyone have the slightest idea what might be on this card?

Chavo vs. Benoit seems like a possibility...

THink a title might be up for grabs (World title)?

Will DX and Orton/Edge really just end after Cyber Sunday so DX can team w/ Cena in the rumored triple threat Survivor Series match?

no title....

all 3 champs will be in the survivor series match. I think it will be all 3 champs having to be protected by 2 others....as in all 3 brands gunning for the others champs....

Alright, judging by current storylines...how about:

DX vs. Orton and Edge in that Three Strikes and Your OUt match (originally reported to take place at Cyber Sunday and have DX's jobs on the line)...

Raw (Cena, Carlito, Umaga) vs. ECW (Show, RVD, Sabu) vs. SD (Booker, Batista, Finlay)

Kennedy vs. Undertaker (Casket match) (maybe Kennedy and a partner other than MVP vs. Kane and Taker in a tag casket match)

Benoit vs. Chavo for the US title

Test vs. CM Punk

Lita vs. Mickie for the Women's title (possible final match for Lita)

Hardy vs. Nitro in an IC title Ladder match

Typically, if this card is done correctly, it is the 2nd strongest ppv IMO. The survior matches are always entertaining. And, if they do it right, there is always a really solid title match or two.

Here is what I am thinking:

-Team Raw (Cena and company) vs. Team Smackdown (Booker and friends) vs. Team ECW (Big Show and misfits)

-Chris Benoit vs. Chavo (U.S. Title Match)

-Batista vs. Finlay

-Team Flair (Flair, Piper, Sgt. Slaughter, Dusty Rhodes, ????) vs. Spirit Squad

- I.C. Title fatal Fourway: Jeff Hardy vs. Shelton vs. Carlito vs. Nitro

-Mickie James vs. Lita (Woman's title)

-DX vs. Edge, Orton (Cage Match/HITC)

FIRST MATCH ANNOUNCED:

The first match announced for this year’s Survivor Series pay-per-view will be The Undertaker vs. Ken Kennedy. WWE.com revealed the match in an article today where Kennedy challenged Undertaker in a No Mercy rematch. As the storyline goes, Undertaker is “ruining” Kennedy’s life and he wants to end the trouble once and for all. The article confirms that Undertaker will address Kennedy’s challenge Friday night on SmackDown, quite possibly adding a stipulation to the bout.

SECOND MATCH CONFIRMED:

Posted Image

At Survivor Series, WWE fans will see a reunion, an extreme first and an inter-brand showdown all in the same match when a team co-captained by D-Generation X meets a team co-captained by Edge & Randy Orton in a 5-on-5 Traditional Survivor Series Elimination Match.

The two teams of co-captains have been at each other’s throats for weeks, with Edge & Orton trying to end DX’s reign of terror on RAW. They were successful at Cyber Sunday thanks to special referee Eric Bischoff, but Shawn Michaels & Triple H responded by costing them the World Tag Team Championship the next night on RAW. Now, at Survivor Series, the two teams will add three partners and do battle in a Classic Survivor Series Match.

Both quintets will be made up of Superstars from all three brands. Along with HBK and The Game, Team DX will be made up of RAW’s Jeff Hardy, SmackDown’s Matt Hardy and ECW Extremist CM Punk; meanwhile, Edge & Orton’s squad will be rounded out by Intercontinental Champion Johnny Nitro, Cruiserweight Champion Gregory Helms and ECW’s Mike Knox.

Jeff and Nitro, Matt and Helms and Punk and Knox all have their own rivalries brewing as well. Jeff and Nitro have traded the Intercontinental Championship in recent months, Matt and Helms have been battling over a personal grudge and Punk and Knox have been at odds seemingly due to the schoolgirl crush Knox’s girlfriend Kelly has on Punk.

All four of these rivalries will be combined into one volatile match at Survivor Series; but while hostility is high, this match will also see the ultimate reunion of the brothers Hardy. Together, Matt and Jeff have won the World Tag Team Championship on five occasions, but Survivor Series will see them teaming together for the first time since August 2002.

Who will survive when these 10 Superstars and Extremists collide in the same ring at Survivor Series?

Check back tomorrow at 3 p.m. ET for the announcement of another Survivor Series match.

That match is going to own.
