MORE MATCHES TO BE ANNOUNCED SOON

Chad's original post

Summerslam 2006

In honor of the fact that I still don't know if I'll be ordering Vengeance, Summerslam may very well be the next PPV I buy.  So, here's my initial card for it...

WWE Champion Edge vs. John Cena in a Street Fight - The inevitable rematch between these guys should come at the biggest PPV of the summer.  They still seem reluctant to turn Cena heel, so this is the logical move for them.  With the gimmick, it should be a helluva match...the question would be...who wins?  My money would be on Edge in the short-term, meaning this may not end up being the main-event.

ECW World Heavyweight Champion Rob Van Dam vs. Kurt Angle - You would think that with all the hype ECW's been getting, that they'd continue to place the brand on big PPV events.  I'd say one of the most natural feuds for RVD as ECW Champion would be against Kurt Angle.  It wouldn't be in front of ECW fans, but if you place this match on the card, more ECW fans might show up and be vocal for that style.

World Champion Booker T vs. Dave Batista - If the WWE is smart, the man to beat Rey for the title will be Booker at Judgment Day.  He's a red hot heel and the most entertaining guy on SD right now...put him with a returning Batista who ought to mow thru Mark Henry and let them have their natural storyline based on their fight.

Triple H vs. Randy Orton - Talk about a big fourth match for this card...I think the heel Randy vs. face Trips was always the way to go for their original feud.  Orton was Evolution...so let him be the cocky shit and go up against DX's Trips.  I think it'll be a very good match this time around.  Orton has improved a lot...

US Champion Bobby Lashley vs. Ken Kennedy - The top two talents to come into the WWE in 2005 facing each other for the first time in 2006.  This is a feud of the future for SD and it'd be great to see Kennedy put his considerable talents to the test.  I see Lashley holding the belt for a long time, but it wouldn't hurt Kennedy to do something besides squash CWs...

Women's Champion Mickie James vs. Trish Stratus - It's coming...and it's going to be a very good match once they put it all together and avoid the injury plague that struck at Backlash.  I expect this to be the best women's title match of all-time when it's all said and done...

Rey Mysterio vs. Chavo Guerrero - I just get the feeling that the pairing b/t Guerrero and Mysterio is going to lead to Guerrero turning heel on Rey.  Plus, you gotta have Rey on the card since he's a main-eventer now.  It could be a great opener if they so choose to place it in that position...

Intercontinental title Ladder Match: Shelton Benjamin vs. Carlito (champion) -  A match that should've happened last year at Summerslam...I'm a big fan of these guys feuding this summer, as Carlito has opened up the offense and shown more of why he's going to be a star.  Combine the athletism of these two and you could have a fantastic ladder match...

^^ Solid, very conceivable card.

Chavo has to turn heel soon. That's what he does best.

That's a card I'd most likely order. I probably will order this show unless the card just looks awful. I would order Vengance but I don't want to pay for two PPV's in one month.

CMV1 Summerslam Attempt 2

WWE Champion Edge vs. John Cena in a STEEL CAGE - I miss the days when a steel cage match could headline a PPV...When I think of all the gimmicks they could try, the cage seems to fit both their styles the best. Edge has proven he can have an electric cage match and Cena's ground and pound seems ready made for it.

DX vs. McMahons - a no brainer...

Hogan vs. Orton - already signed...

World Heavyweight Champion Booker T vs. Batista vs. Rey Mysterio - Stinger brought up a good point in AVFTR about how Book vs. batista could be hot enough to carry us through the fall (for SD). I just don't see why they should hot shot that feud. Rey Mysterio could be used to put over Book and be a key component in the whole Book-Batista scenario in the early going. Plus, his presence makes for a much better looking match as Book and Batista learn to work with each other.

Undertaker vs. Kurt Angle - Why not? Taker, unless he faces Khali or Show, won't have anything to do...Angle should be back by then...

ECW Champion Big Show vs. Rob Van Dam - RVD will be back by Summerslam and it'd be natural to have them feud at Summerslam, w/ Heyman playing a key part, obviously. A motivated effort from those two could be really good actually...

US Champion Bobby Lashley vs. Finlay in a No-DQ match - Finlay needs to be on the card. That guy can go...he's unique and one of the IWC darlings right now...seriously, reviewers love that guy...Anyhow, that's been a good feud and Finlay is largely responsible for Lashley's in-ring growth...

IC Champion Johnny Nitro vs. Carlito - Here's your opener...

I'd cry with joy if Taker vs. Angle in a real feud happens. That's a gem for sure!

I like it Chad, you just need to find a spot for Sabu, who's likely to be in there somewhere with how high Vince is on him.

Ever think of Sabu vs. Big Show (could be damn good under Extreme Rules) and RVD vs. Angle (Angle cut that emotional promo the night he lost to Van Dam, which was his last match).

That leaves Undertaker without a match, but I figure there's no way they'll leave Khali off the card, so we're probably looking at a 'Taker/Khali rubber match.....

Ewwww....Taker vs. Khali III?

No thanks...I'd just assume leave both off the card if that's the case...

RVD vs. Angle would be great...I can dig Sabu vs. Show...

I wonder if this match with Cena tonight begins that rumored push for Umaga we've read about for a few months?

You may need to put him in somewhere. Maybe a Kane vs. Umaga match at SS?

Here is a card that sounds intriguing and after reading the Smackdown Spoilers, watching ECW last night, and Raw on Monday...I think could be an interesting card.

John Cena vs. Edge © - WWE Championship
It's been hyping for weeks, so it's only a matter of time before it is announced.

DX vs. The McMahons

Randy Orton vs. Hulk Hogan

Batista vs. Booker T © - World Heavyweight Championship

Rey Mysterio vs. Chavo Guerrero

Finlay © vs. Ken Kennedy - US Heavyweight Championship

Big Show vs. Sabu © - ECW Heavyweight Championship

Tommy Dreamer/Sandman vs. Mike Knox/Test

RVD vs. Kurt Angle
Possibly for the Television Title if they decide to bring in more single's titles. Otherwise should just be a good match!

Each brand gets three matches and that makes for one hell of a good card!

I'd do it like this....

Brain Busters vs. The Hart Foundation

Dusty Rhodes vs. The Honky Tonk Man

Mr. Perfect vs. The Red Rooster

The Fabulous Rougeaus & Rick Martel vs. The Rockers & Tito Santana

Intercontinental Championship Match
The Ultimate Warrior vs. “Ravishing” Rick Rude

Demolition & Hacksaw Jim Duggan vs. Andre The Giant, Akeem & Big Boss Man

Hercules vs. Greg “The Hammer” Valentine

“Million Dollar Man” Ted DiBiase vs. “Superfly” Jimmy Snuka via countout

Hulk Hogan & Brutus “The Barber” Beefcake vs. “Macho Man” Randy Savage & Zeus

^^ Troll post by Snow? SummerSlam 89? ;)

I guess I'm the only one not dying to see a Sabu vs. Big Show match. *shrugs*

Hopefully it comes together into something compelling. As it stands right now, I'm pretty lukewarm about this PPV.

With Sabu's crazy ass in there, combined with the fact that Show's title reign has been good thus far and he's had some damn good "Extreme Rules" matches, I think Sabu vs. Big Show can be very good.

I'd say Animal's card looked pretty accurate, though I see Mick Foley vs. Ric Flair getting on there before the Knox/Test vs. Sandman/Dreamer match.

I also see an Intercontinental title match getting on there before that U.S title match.

This is one problem they now have, which is that they have to divide the card between three brands instead of two.

I mean, we know these are a given:
-Cena/Edge
-D-X/McMahons
-Orton/Hogan
-Batista/Booker
-Chavo/Rey
-And it seems like Sabu/Big Show could be on deck, as well as Foley/Flair....

Then you have to account for Undertaker, who likely will be on there somewhere, as well as the IC title situation with Nitro/ Carlito and Benjamin that's been getting ample airtime....

And that doesn't even account for the U.S. title, Kurt Angle, or Rob Van Dam......

So basically, WWE's gonna have to leave a few folks off the card.....

Or maybe make it a longer PPV???

Then again, if they did that, that'd be another $10 on the price.

The length is fine, since WrestleMania is the only show that should be an hour longer...

It's just a matter of putting your best stuff on this thing...

To me, ECW should only get two matches on a pay-per-view this big, and Show, Sabu, Angle and RVD should all be on there at the expense of Dreamer, Sandman, Test and Knox.

There shouldn't be a U.S. title match on there now, since Lashley's inactive. And we don't need another Finlay/Regal match....

The midcard title should be the IC, with something involving Nitro, Benjamin and Carlito....

If they minimize bullshit fluff like Diva contest and bikini bashes, they easily have all the time they need to put on just about every good match everyone's suggested in this thread. In fact, there's really no excuse not to short of shoddy booking.

I feel better about this PPV after reading the last several posts. I'll definitely be seeing it, although I won't be watching WWE programming very steadily until that Diva contest is over with.

My same old routine...

I love it...less fluff, more matches that matter

However, I wonder if ECW will be In the survivor series match?

None of these matches look bad. Add Rey Mysterio vs Chavo Guerrero... AND possibly Sabu vs Big Show. The card looks damn good to me.

(I'm not that big on the idea of Undertaker vs Khali or a Last Man Standing match, though.)

I admire your optimism Dawsey, I wish I felt the same.

Hogan/Orton is going to suck. I like Randy, but he's no HBK. I doubt he'll get something half way decent out of Hogan. Plus Hogan will win, so there's really no point in the match, it doesn't even have the stigma of being a "dream match".

Edge/Cena will be decent, but I've grown tired of it. The quicker Cena goes down the card and adapts a new depth to his character, I just won't give a rats ass about anything that involves him. The stipulation is stupid too. This needed a gimmick, not a bullshit "title can change hands on DQ" stip.

DX/McMahons will be entertaining. I'm fairly sure they'll make it no holds barred. They better anyway, cause without some sort of gimmick like that, this match will suck too.

Without a gimmick, Booker/Batista will likely suck, though at least it's fresh. Foley/Flair in a hardcore should be good. Rey/Chavo will be good. And Sabu/Big Show could be good, but how many hardcore matches will they put on the card? And without extreme rules, it just won't be worth it.

A Triple Threat TLC Match between Nitro/Carlito/Benjamin for the IC championship, given about 20 minutes, would bump this even up a lot, cause it ain't looking good at the moment.

^^ That's how I feel right now.

And I just don't understand why some seem to be so hot about this idea of a Sabut vs. Big Show match. I'd much rather see Sabu vs. some far more athletic guy myself.

I'm sure I'll end up seeing this, but I can't say I have a real fire lit under my ass for it right now.

It's too bad SummerSlam won't be their first match together.

God knows I'd much rather see this than Sabu vs. Big Show any day of the week.

Hulk Hogan confirmed he will miss Monday's RAW after learning he has a partially torn meniscus, WWE.com reports.

The WWE Hall Of Famer will not undergo surgery for the injury and took a cortisone shot to alleviate the pain.

He has yet to commit to working his scheduled Summerslam match with Randy Orton.

“I’ve prided myself over the last 25 years of not getting injured and disappearing,” said the WWE Hall of Famer. “Normally I can work through any injury, but the problem is that this is my good knee, which means I can’t rely on my surgically repaired knee to shoulder the rest of the burden.”

Dear God.

As if this match weren't going to be an eye sore already...now Randy Orton HAS to carry this old fool into something respectable.

This WILL be THE biggest test of young Orton's career thus far, hands down.

It's going to be ugly, folks. Real ugly.
