I also think the pic looked like Kennedy. It's Lashley though, and that's a good thing. I don't want to see Kennedy turned face this soon, and especially be put in a match with Umaga. Anyone else read the rumor, I think mentioned by The Torch, that McMahon is toying with the idea of having MNM/Hardyz in a Scaffold Match? MNM/Hardyz need to happen, but not in that kind of match because it doesn't allow for a whole lot. I'm begging WWE to invent a new creative, exciting match type... and I don't mean a variation of a cage. With that said, I'd love to see Kane/Khali in a scaffold, provided Kane won :D |

I've been intrigued by the potential MVP vs. Benoit match-up... And, as per what I've been reading on the net, it seems that I had good reason to. People are saying that those two have had strong matches on house shows, to the point that they even put a near 30-minute match b/t the two as the headlining match of one of the weaker shows. I think MVP has shown potential, so I'm kinda looking forward to seeing what he's got against a guy like Benoit. |

I like MVP. He's a good talent, and it's a shame he's given such a dumbass gimick. That being said, I think the match itself would go well, but I don't think the rivalry would go over all that great. |

World Heavyweight Champion Batista vs. Undertaker WWE Champion John Cena vs. Shawn Michaels Battle of the Billionaires Money in the Bank Ladder Match ECW Originals vs. New Breed Women's Champion Melina vs. Ashley Kane vs. The Great Khali MVP vs. Chris Benoit As far as WM standards go, this card may be a bit weak but... 8 matches have been more or less announced and I only dislike two of them. |

We'll see how it goes...It's still Mania...I'm sure we'll all find a way to get pumped... Only a little over 2 weeks away. Here's hoping for good health to all involved before then...I swear, I worry about HBK's health every week on Raw... |

Me, too. I still feel like I remember reading months ago that he was due to take time off to get his knee fixed, among other things. Then DX got reformed and all the rest of it. Needless to say: WM would be ruined outright if something happened to HBK. I really wish he were abstaining from any ring activity outright except for as needed PPVs. |

Trish/Mickie last year was a damn fine match, despite the botch. Those chicks deserve to have their match blue too
;) There's only two crap matches on the card, and luckily they'll both probably be kept under five minutes. Umaga/Lashley will be ugly, but it has the big time feel to keep it decent and I'm sure Austin will keep it entertaining. New Breed/Originals needs to be extreme rules to be any good. And they really need to get the tag straps off of Cena/HBK and onto MNM or TWGTT and put them in a unification match against London/Kendrick (who greatly deserve to be on the card). If all PPV's are going to be co-branded, and you have basically 3 teams per show, then you might as well have one set of tag titles for RAW, Smackdown, and ECW. |

That's a good idea, Stinger...but I don't think it'll happen. THere are rumors of a Mania 14 style tag team battle royal being added to the card. I have no problems with battle royals...i'm a battle royal mark... I think every match could be good with the exceptions of the obvious turds. Part of me believes that Lashley-Umaga will be, surprisingly, really good. Matches involving McMahon are historically booked to hide every potential flaw. I suspect this will be no different. Somehow, some way, this match will deliver. Quite frankly, I think they know that it needs to deliver to back up the hype it's been given. HBK vs. Cena and MITB are clearly going to be the standout matches, though. |

I worry too :( I would love HBK to have another run with the title but not right now because that would really put a lot of pressure on him.
I agree with that 100%. Imagine the matches they could have if the belts where unified.
I love battle royal matches and I know I wont be disappointed with the match either. |

Yeah...that could happen... There's really no reason to have two sets of tag titles if they aren't doing single-brand PPVs anymore. However, my money is on them retaining the belts and adding tag belts to ECW. ECW could actually use tag titles and build them up as meaningful since they are only a one-hour show. The New Breed vs. Originals feud could be the lead in to what could become a damn solid tag division for them. |

Well, we're about a week out...I must say that I'm excited, even though I think this is the weakest card of the modern era... Anyone have any thoughts or predictions? Personally, I'm really only looking forward to three matches...everything is else either something I'm just hoping to be surprised by or pretty much dreading. HBK vs. Cena tops my list. I look forward to a great match. Being a huge fan of last year's main-event (a match that fell into the "hoping to be surprised by" category at the time), I have to admit that I think HBK vs. Cena could be a candidate for match of the year. The crowd should be hot and torn between the two. That ought to be fun. Cena is a better worker now than he was a year ago, so I have very high hopes for this bout... Second is MITB III. I was hoping for Edge vs. Orton, but an 8-man ladder match featuring 3 former World champions, 3 ladder match legends, and a rising star certainly catches my eye. I think this will challenge for MOTN and legitimately could be a MOTY candidate if booked right. I'd hope this gets a higher position on the card than second and that they book it creatively. My only concern for this match is Booker...I can see him being a real clunker out there...I hope his role is limited like Kane's was a few years ago, or that he surprises me... The only other match I'm really looking forward to is Batista vs. Undertaker. I have a hunch this will main-event, although I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't. Taker has the ability to carry lesser talent, and Batista is definitely that. I would hope that they keep the length short to allow Batista to maximize his potential in the ring. A 15-16 minute match would be good. I can't really see this going much above 2.5 stars, though...and I wouldn't be at all surprised if it was a real DUD due to Bats. Here's hoping for the best, because there is certainly a great deal of intrigue surrounding them facing each other for the first time. The matches I'm hoping to be surprised by are Benoit-MVP, Lashley-Umaga, and the 6-man tag. In Lashley-Umaga, I can see a really well booked match, but I can also envision some stupid booking to get Trump involved. This could surprise me, but I'm honestly expecting to feel as if this went on forever and took about 15-minutes too much time. In Benoit-MVP, I'm expecting a 12-minute opener where we see the potential of what they could do. I was not a fan of Benoit-JBL last year, for I felt it was entirely too short. I think this will get more time and be a better match. To surprise me, they'd need to go 3-stars... And the 6-man tag...Booking will make or break it. The New Breed have raw talent, but with the exception of the highly underrated Kevin Thorne (who I think should get a SD call up and be an upper mid-card heel), they are unpolished. The feud has been good, though, so hopefully this can be entertaining and add to the card. If all goes well, that's a solid 6 match foundation to help eliminate the big dump that Ashley-Melina and Kane-Khali are likely to take on the card. If all doesn't go well, I still feel like I'll get 2 matches to add to my Wrestlemania Recall (which I do every year in the build up to Mania). My expectations are pretty low, but I'm still pumped about Mania. Mania is Mania...it's about the atmosphere more than anything... |

You know, it is really weird for me. I'm having a difficult time getting into this year's 'Mania. Usually, I wouldn't have a problem, but for some reason, this year I just can't seem to get hyped up for it. It's odd because there are only TWO matches that I don't think will be good. The rest of the matches should be fine. I think the reason behind this lack of interest is because the of the WWE's booking. I mean, the main events. Neither HBK/Cena nor 'Taker/Batista have DONE anything to make me interested. AT ALL!!! Tension between tag champs (Cena/HBK) and throwing random wrestlers at each other like they're snowballs or something ('Taker/Batista) isn't enough for me. I'll give them credit for Lashley/Umaga. It started out well, and I was interested until it became McMahon dominated. At least the ECW WORLD Champion finally looks like a World Champion instead of some midcard champion posing as a world champion, though. Money In The Bank Ladder Match. I am looking forward to this match. I just hope Eight contestants isn't too many. The Originals vs New Breed needs to be named an extreme rules match. Or else I'm not really that interested. I'm glad they did this match as I wanted a way to get some ECW guys on the card without just throwing them the MITB or having a Multi-man ECW Championship match. This match has the potential to be awesome if they pull out everything for this match: barbed wire and weapons galore. Just make it as hardcore as possible. Add in a mix of some great wrestling and it should be unbelievable. I have a feeling that's not going to happen, though. They tried to add some interest with Mick Foley, but it didn't do much for me. I hope this next week, they make me interested. Now don't get me wrong the show SHOULD be good. It is Wrestlemania and like I said, there are only TWO matches that I don't like on the card. What I'm trying to say is that the WWE haven't got me pumped for 'Mania. |

Same here. You spelled out the key problem, as usual: Poor writing and booking. And yet again: You are another person that's considered way more "optimistic" and "positive" than I am, and here you are in the same boat with me and several others. The WWE needessly put themselves in a bind when the booking for months was nothing but John Cena and DX. If you weren't one of those three individuals, you may as well have dropped dead as do anything else. So much for the brand split meaning more TV time for guys that may otherwise not have gotten it. There IS enough talent on the rosters right now that this current state of affairs really shouldn't be, even without Kurt Angle, Eddie Guerrero, and Triple H. All the WWE continues to do is fulfill an expectation I stated right when the brand split started: No real competition means less effort put forth. There's no fire lit under their ass anymore so, as far as they are concerned, there really is no need to try that hard anymore. It's that simple. I think I'm at the point where I honestly don't care if I see it or not. It's going to be like wrestling basically has been for months for me: If I have absolutely nothing better to do that night, maybe I'll tune it in, or in this case: Trek down the sports bar to see WM. If I don't? I'll live. ;) |

I read that about Trish Stratus yesterday, I was disappointed to learn earlier today that she claims that report is false and that she won't be at Wrestlemania 23 (nor was she booked for those radio shows). I would've loved a Trish appearance, because damn I miss her. I also don't care if I watch or not. It doesn't seem special, and I'd probably end up getting pissed if Cena or Batista or both win. $50 on a possible letdown or $20 a month later and know what I'm getting (plus the entire HOF & other extras)? Yeah, I'll probably just get the DVD. |
