Wait...How does Cena moving to SD make sense? He's draws the biggest crowd reaction of any performer in the WWE...Putting him on SD hides all that... Whose the top face if Cena leaves? Triple H? The guy that drew virtually no crowd reaction at MSG on Monday? Meanwhile, who got the crowd worked into a frenzy? John Cena... Someone help me, here...Cena to SD? Makes sense how? |

http://z14.invisionfree.com/UWF_Forums/ind...p?showtopic=769 ^^ The same SD that even Batista knows he needs to get off? It ain't gonna happen. SD is dead. Lost cause. Forget about it. And HHH and DX are fun, but HHH is delusional if he thinks he's going to be the top uber babyface of the company. He can forget about it. I like what he's doing and he proved me wrong about making a good face turn, and I love DX and all that, but that's it. Predictions: Cena (inevitable) DX (this feud needs end here or expand to much larger stakes) Nitro (I just can't see a Hardy ever getting a push in the WWE.) Lita (Trish is retiring soon, this could be a put over match.) Highlanders (duh, like it even matters?) CCC (not confident in this one simply because Orton is overdue for a win, thanks to Hogan.) Umaga (put over match. If they're serious about pushing this guy, he's got to start having meaningful wins.) HBK 3 Pinfall McMahons |

A.) More children watch Smackdown than Raw, Smackdown tends to be a little more family friendly, CHILDREN LOVE CENA. B.) More minorities watch Smackdown than Raw, and as you can see by crowd reaction, minority audiences tend to like Cena more than your white bread audiences. C.) Smackdown needs star power. And sorry Q, as I've been saying for years, Smackdown is not done. They are waiting for the CW to fully take over before they invest wrestlers into it. Granted, they will always be a little behind Raw as far as talent power because it is considered the number 2 show, but it will get stronger. D.) Raw has 2 hours, bad storylines, and too much star power doing nothing. You bring Cena over to fuck with Batista, Rey, Lashley, and Undertaker.....you got gold. |

I think this entire conversation is now moot. See the spoilers that just came out? http://www.lordsofpain.net/news/2006_/arti.../1158332409.php I'd say there's a snowball's chance in hell that those spoilers aren't correct. |

You guys wanna know why RAW must be better than SD? Why Cena must stay on RAW? Why SD will still be in exsistance for years to come even though it wont be even close to as good as RAW? Back in 2000, there was three wrestling show on television. Two of them were produced by major companies with a lot of money invested, the WWF and the WCW, and the other one was a small time promotion that managed to elevate itself higher than the regular “hometown” promotion but never had the financial backing it needed to survive. As you all know, none of them still exist today as all are now under the WWE banner (I know, it’s the same thing as the WWF). When the WCW and ECW folded, Vince McMahon decided to hire some of the wrestlers from those promotions and found himself with more wrestlers under contract than he could promote. His original plan was to keep one of the shows (WCW) alive and separated but he couldn’t find an interested network. After a while, he made the decision to have his own two shows as separate entities. This is known to us as the brand extension. While the move was highly disapproved by fans, it was needed to ensure that more wrestlers would have airtime. That way, they could elevate more stars and keep more under contract. At one point, there was a group of 6 wrestlers on Smackdown that was simply stealing the show making Smackdown the show to watch. And at that time, it was a necessity since that show was on Thursday nights, the biggest night on television. A night so competitive that a show like Family Guy couldn’t even survive. Raw, on the other hand, always had its fair share of high profile wrestlers and feuds, with the likes of HHH, Kane, HBK and so on. To keep things moving and prevent from feuds being stalling, the WWE decided later to have a lottery draft. We all know that there wasn’t any “lottery” because, as with any other part of wrestling, everything was planned and scripted. And in the two drafts held by the WWE, it seemed that Raw was getting the upper hand, especially in the last one. Some of us thought that the WWE was screwing Smackdown and was trying to “kill it”. Those suppositions grew even louder when it was announced that Kurt Angle was leaving the blue brand for the new ECW while Randy Orton was joining Raw. While I am never a fan of conspiracy theories, is there any logic as to why the WWE would do such a move? Yes there is. Since 2001, a lot of things changed. Now SD! is on Friday nights where there is no competition. They don’t have to compete against the likes of 24, Friends or CSI (no, the reruns don’t count). Pretty much any wrestling fan can decide to watch SD! or go out. The WWE can’t really get that much more fans than they have and having a more “star filled show” wouldn’t help their numbers that much. Because the hardcore fans will continue to watch the show while the casual fans will not decide to stay at home just to watch a TV show, even if it’s a wrestling show. What the WWE try to do, on the other hand, is to give good matches especially in the under card. The cruiserweight and tag team action is getting good TV exposure and things are only getting better there. And as such, a wrestling show that doesn’t have any competition should focus on good wrestling. The same can actually be said about ECW. They have to keep their existing fans happy because the casual fan won’t change their plans for it. As for Raw, there is a huge problem called Monday Night football. A big proportion of the casual wrestling fans are also football fans which means that if the WWE want to keep their viewers, they have to ensure that their flagship show is more interesting than the MNF of the week. And to do that, they need all the help they can have. From HHH to HBK to the agility of Shelton and Jeff Hardy and the charisma of Carlito and so on. The WCW may have been bought by Vince McMahon and ECW may have closed its doors as well but for the WWE, Monday Nights, they are still at war for viewers. They just changed the war field… |

An interesting theory, but even you admit you skirting into conspiracy theory territory , and frankly it shows. Look, it's all one WWE. No, it doesn't make any sense that they'd want any of their shows to suck or be in the crapper except for this one reason, and it's something I've said since day one of WCW and ECW being bought out: The WWE no longer needs to try. They ARE professional wrestling in the big time. It's either them or nothing. The ultimate act of arrogance and hubris was this brand split and the idea of a simulated, fake "competition" amongst the brands. It's all a bunch of bullshit. There is no war. Wrestling is back in a down cycle like 1994 all over again. This stuff goes in cycles. The last up cycle was the peak of the Attitude Era, and frankly, I don't know when or if wrestling will ever see that again, because there is NO REAL COMPETITION. TNA is a joke and a disgrace. They could have been something, but they never will be. Too much Jarret, too much fo everything and everyone that brought down WCW. You have to to UFC and other stuff like that to get into something respectable. And UFC and stuff like that is a real threat to WWE. It's drawing away fans. You can count on it. It's good stuff. By and large, it kicks the hell out of most of what WWE is now. The only other faint hope was Paul Heyman somehow getting a real ECW back off the ground. Maybe going to Big Ted Turner and getting Teddy to open his wallet again. But sadly, Paul Heyman sold out to Vince. Heyman is a whore and a hypocrite and the end result is a sad affair. It doesn't do anybody a damned bit of good that "ECW" kneels to the fat, WWE conglomerate like everyone else. Eat at Vince's table or don't eat at all. That's why pro wrestling as a whole could be in potential jeopardy down the road as long as you have this one huge monster eating everything else in sight. Stale, bland, unchallenging, no need to push the envelope, creative people backstage that know nothing about the business, etc. etc.... it's a recipie for doom long term, and that's easily evident by what you see on WWE TV week in and week out. No conspiracy theory there! But please: Raw, SD, "ECW" it's all the same complacent WWE and same people running it all. There is no conspiracy. They just have no reason to give a shit. Fact, not theory. |
