24 returns for fifth season! And it starts tonight (1-15) on Fox with a two hour prremire at 8pm and another two hours tomorrow night (1-16), starting at 8pm. I'll have to have RAW on via PIP because this show gets first priority all the way! This show truly is like watching a movie, especially in HD, by the way. This is a show that will sell HDTV's. Believe me! Should be fun! |

I'm going to have to start taping 24...I watched all four seasons over the course of last August...and I love that friekin' show... I'm not one to get into TV shows (other than wrestling stuff) on a regular basis, but DVDs of the entire season tend to suck me in. Unfortunately, Friends was off the air before I had the chance to watch it after seeing all the seasons on DVD, but I have the chance to pick up with 24... Any idea what the big surprise in the 1st 10 minutes will be? I'm going w/ the death of President Palmer... |

Awesome stuff! I think Palmer wasn't much of a surprise to me because I felt like I'd see a commercial for another show on another network with that actor in it. So going in, I had a feeling Palmer might not have been long for this world. ;) Still a hell of a shock to see it go down like that, and that fast! And Michelle taken out and Tony critically wounded! All in 10 minutes! LOL. No other show I know of has the guts to do what this show does: The unexpected truly does happen. Peoople, including main characters, can get hurt, can lose, and can even die at a moment's notice. No one is ever safe, and nothing is ever for sure on this show! This show knows no fear. You know what, though? isn't poor Jack overdue for some good news and maybe have one or two nice things happen in his life? In any event, this show and Lost are easily the best shows on network TV, at least. |

I wish I had been following since the beginning. As it stands, I just finished watching season 1 not long ago and don't want to tune in now because I'd be completely lost as far as storylines go. Oh well, I'll just catch up on DVD. |

At least you can immerse yourself without any commercial breaks. Anyways, I'm going to talk about last night's episode a little bit, so here comes the spoiler tag. Spoiler: I'm appalled that Jack was left to the Chinese for TWO years and NO ONE ever even TRIED to break him out or negotiate him out? That's the one thing that's annoyed me about this show since day one: What more does Jack have to do to prove himself and his value and his loyalty? And this is the kind of thanks he gets? This really had me infuriated last night. I just can't believe that there was no way, especially in the logic defying world of 24, that they would ever leave Jack for dead, or in this case ,far worse than being dead. Just galling. Sickening. /spoiler Definitely some very timely and even sensitive and less than politically correct post 9-11 what if stuff going on in this season and sad to say, it wouldn't take much in reality for us to be in this kind of nightmare scenario. Lots of food for thought and great action as always. Except for my complaint in the spoiler area, I think is off to a roaring start. I love Alexander Siddig, who is playing the ex terrorist working alongside Jack. Siddig had a nice supporting role in Kingdom of Heaven but is best known as Dr. Bashir from Star Trek Deep Space Nine. Totally unrecognizeable! Since that show ended, Siddig has showed up in roles ever since that really show how versatile and what a good actor he really is. This guy is intense! I hope he's in the season for a while, if not the whole thing. |

I watched this with my dad.... he got mad at me when I started swearing at the TV (read Q's spoiler). I know it's not real, but that kind of stuff always pisses me off. |

More spoiler talk: Nuking a city really takes things to the next level in some respects and that's about the only thing that could get Jack to "clear his head" after gunning down one of his closest working associates for the last several years. I'm sorry, but just like I don't buy them leaving Jack for worse than dead to the Chinese for two years? I don't buy Jack gunning down Curtis for any reason. Yes, I know how Jack is about "keeping his word" and "greater good" and all that other crap, but this has been one of my biggest gripes with 24 for the last few years now and it goes something like this: "Let's find a 'shocking' and completely obligatory way to kill of a main character just BECAUSE." As much as I enjoy this show and most certainly will continue to enjoy it, these two major issues I've cited thus far have now given me the same feeling I've had with Lost this season thus far. It's the feeling of: 1.) They don't know what they're doing. 2.) They're kind of making this up as they go along. I hope I end up being wrong for both shows, since they're my two favorites. Also: :o |

Well Q, let's face facts....although your points are valid, you have to think of it as a U.S. who's situation curved off in another direction after 9/11. Not the U.S. we know now. Also, let's not forget, those problems aside, it's still the 2nd best show on tv....next to the shield. :D |

Hey man. I've played enough Splinter Cell and Rainbow Six games to know how these things can go. ;) The Shield is a kick ass show indeed, yes. |

I usually end up watching 24 a season late or catching it on the Net somewhere, and yeah it's a good show. It's not as good as House though. House owns all, and that's a fact. And Q, I know what you mean about killing main characters off for no reason other than "because it's shocking". I don't like that either. |

Fayed's brother: Who was he and what season was he in? I can't remember. I'm thinking it was either last season or the one before when the guy who played The Mummy in the Mummy films was one of the lead terrorists. Was that Fayed's brother? |

I've been told by some that this was simply dialogue alluding to some event that happened in their past before the show ever started. *shrugs* Anyways: The Bauer family wins the most dysfunctional family award! |

You know what would make 24 an even better show? Dr. Daniel Jackson, that's what
:) Stargate SG-1 co-star Michael Shanks ("Daniel Jackson") has already hit it big following the conclusion of the long-running science fiction series. Shanks has just signed on for a recurring role in FOX's hit drama 24, fan site Michael Shanks Online is reporting. Precise details about Shanks's character and the episodes in which he will appear will be available in the weeks ahead. Shanks's filming for the show begins this week. 24 is currently in its sixth season on the FOX broadcast network in the U.S., and stars Kiefer Sutherland as Agent Jack Bauer. Visit FOX.com for more on the series. That's great news, IMO. Michael Shanks is an awesome actor, and really deserves to be a much bigger name than he is. I hope 24 opens up some doors to bigger things for him.
