Posted Image WATCH THE TEASER TRAILER Genre: Action / Adventure / Drama Plot Outline: An action/adventure film set 600 years ago, prior to the 16th-century Spanish conquest of Mexico and Central America, where a man goes on a perilous journey to save his idyllic world. Directed by: Mel Gibson Writing credits: Mel Gibson & Farhad Safinia I like movies like this, so I'm looking forward to this movie coming out in theaters in mid 2006. Of course it is not in English, so subtitles, which I'm sure will throw some off. I use to hate subtitled movies, but after watching Osama and The Passion of the Christ, I really don't mind. The trailer is pretty funny, in that Mel Gibson actually appears in it for like a split second. I'll give you guys time to watch the trailer, then I'll post a screen cap of it. The pic is humerous. Should be good, I tend to like all movies directed by Gibson. |

I agree, Gibson usually turns out pretty good stuff. I really liked the Passion, despite what some critics said about it. So anything with a historical base, I think he'll do well at presenting it. |

Welcome aboard! Any friend of Sandman's is a friend of mine! :) Agreed on your point here. Even if you don't agree with everything you saw in it, from a FILMAKING standpoint alone...The Passion is a hell of a movie just like anything else Gibson has made. I have no doubts in my mind that this will be another quality movie. I just wish I could get another Braveheart film somehow, with cheap resurrection tricks and other impossibilities. ;) |

Even though I find Mel's views on Christianity somewhat "Finatical" I appreciated the Passion, and have enjoyed the hell out of all of his movies.....this should be no differant |

I just found some of his views downright fictional outright (stuff that nowhere to be seen in the Bible) but...that's a different topic entirely. ;) |

This movie is set to be released on August 4th, and I really can't wait for it. I love movies like this, and Gibson movies in general (whether he plays in it or directs it). With the exception of The Da Vinci Code, this is the only other movie coming out this year that I know for sure I will go to the theater to see. The full synopsis is: From Academy AwardŽ winning filmmaker Mel Gibson ("The Passion of The Christ," "Braveheart"), comes "Apocalypto": a heart stopping mythic action-adventure set against the turbulent end times of the once great Mayan civilization. When his idyllic existence is brutally disrupted by a violent invading force, a man is taken on a perilous journey to a world ruled by fear and oppression where a harrowing end awaits him. Through a twist of fate and spurred by the power of his love for his woman and his family he will make a desperate break to return home and to ultimately save his way of life. Should be a great, great film. |

Has anyone seen this yet? I personally thought it was really cool. Though I'm not sure all of it was entirely historically accurate... it was still a good movie. |

Me, either. I'm a Mel fan as far as his movies go, but I just have had no desire to see something like this whatsoever. I'm sure that it's incredibly well made and high quality, but I'm just not up for it right now. |

It's actually a really good movie, and you guys should check out sometime. It's about the Mayans, who were much smarter than the average Mexican. Their civilization is actually quite interesting. |

People throughout history has done some fucked up shit, doesn't make their culture any less interesting to learn about. Hell, our Christian ancestors have done some extremely horrible things in the "name of God". |

The only thing I didn't like about the movie was the accuracy of the dialect. I find it really far fetched that the ancient Mayans had a word for 'fucked'. But yeah, you guys should really consider watching it if you get the chance. It's a very epic and suspensful movie... not to mention very well thought out. |
