Just saw this movie today. Holy crap, this was a good movie. Better than any Harry Potter movie that I've seen. And just like Harry Potter, I've read not a single Narnia book. I felt like there were certain things in the movie that could have been added upon, but the overall story was told quite well. I'd recommend to anyone including the skeptical. |

You owe it to yourself to read the books sometime. |

I want to see it, but will not until it comes out on DVD. I hate going to the theater, mostly for the reasons Snowman pointed out in the KING KONG thread. Those, plus it cost too damn much. Narnia looks like it'll be good, though I'm really not all that into talking animals (Disney movies in general, except for Song of the South- that shit rules). I'll trust your recommendation Boss, and see it first chance I get when it comes out on DVD. |

I've read two Narnia books, The Magician's Nephew (the first one) and The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe (the fourth one) and I tried to get into them, I really did. But they were just so, *bleep*ing boring. Plus, not a fan of talking beavers voiced by the godfather of British Cinema. |

I'm not surprised at all that you wouldn't appreciate good literature and books that are arguably modern classics. I'm sure most of it went right over your head as you were hurrying to catch the next episode of TNA. They are not children's books, despite some of the marketing you may see. I'd encourage you to maybe take another shot at them in a few years and see what you think. I think the Narnia series and LOTR are some of the best modern fiction we have myself. |

What went over my head? The biblical meaning behind it? That Aslan is really Jesus? Actually, I felt that it tried to be funny and failed, badly. |

If you think it's a comedy, then you fail, badly. Downright miserably, in fact. The media has been harping on those two points for weeks on end now. If you'd never even HEARD of Narnia before, everyone knows these two things by now. |

C.S. Lewis wrote the Narnia series as fiction books for pretty much all ages with fairly obvious Christian allegory throughout the series. He had become a Christian at some point in his life and then he wrote these books in addition to tons of others. Google his name and you'll get the idea pretty quick. Awesome author! |
