.__General Info__.

Full Name: Alastair Vincent Drake
Nick name: "Dragon Fang"

Nick Name Explanation:
A fiesty and fiery individual, Alastair earned his name after several succesful exploits in destroying enemies of the British empire at sea. Drawn from his last name and his ruthless albeit brave personality, Alastair is acknowledged by this name but no more than his actual name. He prefers to keep this frightening title for the sea where its impact is much stronger. The 'fang' is derived from his swords which resemble two jaggedy teeth more than straight-edged blades. The way the blades are wielded are similar to a striking snake as he plunges them into his enemies. He uses them to cut throats or 'bite' if you will. This is also derived from the fact that he loves to impale his enemies which he will sometimes stab repeatedly to see them suffer more.

Age: 20
Gender: Male
Height: 6'0
Build: Lithe
Occupation: Privateer

.__Appearance__.

Overall Appearance:

Like his personality, Alastair's physical features are bold and sharp. His body is very lithe, wiry and flexible, and some may argue that his frame is small for a man. His features are typically narrow and this can be remarked especially if one glances at his fingers or his angular chin. He is often mistaken for someone much younger than his actual age and has even been accused of looking 15 or 16 years old despite his reasonable 6 foot height. Some even argue that his physical traits are a little on the feminin side due to the sheer delicateness of him and his soft pale skin.

Alastair tends to look and maintain a proper-looking image with a clean-shaven face and tidy black hair which is always swept back in a low poneytail, extending to the centre of his shoulderblades but no further. Alastair has sharp and very aggressive-looking eyebrows which really accentuate his emotions and his powerful blue eyes. The irises of the eyes themselves are a dark, murky blue with swirls of grey, causing them resemble a hurricane swirling around a blackhole (the pupils). They are very ferocious and convey specific emotions in an intimidating way, namely anger. His jawline and nose are very triangular but are blunt enough so that they are attractive. One of his most notable facial features is a large scar which runs through the left side of his face. Starting at the base of the neck, it stretches in a thin, jaggedy line over his jawline and through his left eye (which is miraculously unharmed) until just over his eyebrow. It looks as if someone attempted to stitch the wound but failed miserably as strange lines occasionally run crookedly through the immense scar.

Alastair's attire is another thing on its own. It resembles a combination of both a pirate outfit and British naval officer outfit. The base of Alastair's attire consists of a white male blouse that is buttoned up about three-quarters of the way allowing a small amount of skin to show in a v-like shape along with a pair of black trousers. On top of this he wears a crimson overcoat (it has a smaller fit than most) that extends to his mid-thighs. Intricate designs in black and gold stitching run up the length of it and arrow-like points spawn from them in equal intervals down the length of the coat. Alastair tends to keep the cuffed sleeves of the coat relatively long allowing them to reach just past his wrists. To go with the ensemble, a large and sturdy black belt binds his waist and coat sides together so that no fabric drags or hinders him. A pistol pocket is located just left of a central golden buckle and two sheaths are located on either side of him containing his rapiers. As a finishing touch, he wears a red, patternless bandana that covers the majority of his head and a pair of sturdy but narrow black boots that fold just below the middle of the shin. He is rarely seen wearing anything else though occasionally appears in the typical dress of a naval officer (without the wig and hat of course).

On to his physical posture, he tends to hold himself very high. Due to the fact that he is not one for drinking, he rarely swoons and keeps a very straight back. He walks and moves with grace and authority and tends to look down on others. He is usually very swift and has a brisk stride making him look constantly annoyed.

Effects:

Dual Rapiers (Flamberge Blades)
(Reference: http://www.artnet.com/Magazine/news/mason/...son11-3-8s.jpg)

Alastair carries with him two identical rapiers. Both have golden hilts with brown-black handles and are intricately designed with alternating gold bending around the blade. The hilt's two sides face the reverse direction of eachother: one curves to the north while the other curves to the south. The metal part of each of the rapiers is slender but sturdy with wave-like edges that eventually sharpen to a point (essentially they are flamberge blades). Each sword is engraved with Alastair's name.

Flintlock Pistol
(Reference: http://www.allmilitaria.com/turk1.jpg)

Alastair carries a typical flintlock pistol, very common in his time. It is black in colour with various designs carved into its shaft. Various metals plate the object.

Dragon Pendant

Alastair carries with him at all times a simple bronze dragon pendant, given to him by his father just before he was hanged. Its origins are unknown and it does not seem to possess any supernatural properties. It looks as if it may be from China but it is difficult to tell.

.__Personality__.

Personality:

Alastair Drake is an interesting character. He is fiery, rambuncious and typically ruthless with all that oppose him. Though he is young, he appears to have a wealth of knowledge and his maturity far surpasses his age. His emotions are not easily predictable but his eyes often convey the message for him. He tends to speak with authority and his strong voice is often heard in a crowd; most people dare not ignore it anyway for the consequences can be great. He is rather opinionated but knows his place is beneath the King whom he greatly respects above all. He claims to serve the King directly and yields to no one else (regardless of their rank) however the pirate side of him that he only goes out for himself.

Alastair is very patriotic and proud of his British heritage. He could not think of anyone shaming his country or making a fool of it. He defends it with his life but constantly tries to reep its rewards. Alastair enjoys power which is why his loyalty can be disputed by those who do not know him well enough and this can sometimes make him appear evil-hearted. Along with his love for power, he also enjoys torture. Filled with rage, he channels his emotions into his fighting ability and often times he can become uncontrollable or just plain sadistic. He loathes those who oppose the crown and sees to it that they suffer a most horrible death which is why he often prefers his rapiers over his pistol (unless the pistol is necessary. He would not go out of his way to torture - he merely enjoys it wholeheartedly). Swordfighting is one of his fortés making him always eager for a challenge. He enjoys strategy games and even war. Death, thieving and torturing England's enemies is an everyday part of his life so he is not swayed by the acts he commits (or has to commit as a result of something). The only thing that really seems to get to him is loss, whether it be a failure in battle or a slaughtered ally.

To his allies, Alastair is generally referred to as someone who is disrespectful. He is quite unruly but he holds his word above anything. If he says he's going to do something, he will die before failing to keep his word. He is viewed as a dry individual without humour and friendliness, even when he attempts to be nice. This is perhaps because of his crude outlook on life: it is for his country and himself, nothing else. Although he enjoys slaughter, he is deeply (but not obviously) affected by those allies he loses. He has no friends, but he mourns those who fought valiantly by his side and tends to show his true respect for his comrades only after death. Alastair still feels the pain from his father's death and betrayal which is why he chooses to keep the dragon pendant that was give to him.

He is very strange indeed but proves to be the ideal warrior-type privateer. What he lacks is positive emotion but his negative emotion and pent-up rage is what drives him to fight for the greater 'good' of England.

Likes:
+ Swordfighting
+ The open sea
+ Torturing his foes
+ Serving the King
+ England
+ His rapiers
+ Adventure
+ A challenge

Dislikes:
+ Ranking officers
+ Those that talk down to him
+ Enemies of the Crown
+ Women (they're too complicated for him...and don't like killing enough)
+ Pirates
+ Losing
+ Failing to keep his word
+ Drinking (for the most part)
+ Pistols that are out of ammunition right when you need them
+ Pistols
+ His father
+ Himself

Strengths:
Alastair's strength comes with his swordfighting ability, maneuverability in combat, quick thinnking and his control over his emotions. His lithe body allows him to dodge blows rather easily and counter-attack in combat. His ferocious fighting style is remorseless and he never gives his foes a break to retaliate. He is succesful in this way and his slimness also acts as something that often causes his enemies to underestimate him, falter and suffer his wrath. Because of the quickness of his fighting style, he has adapted a fast way of life so he is often prepared for the unexpected.

Weaknesses:
Despite the flexibility advantage of his smaller-framed body, it is also a weakness. Alastair is easily tossed or thrown around by larger foes if he is unable to dodge. His hotheadedness can sometimes get in the way of objectives and he will sometimes overdo things. His intollerance can also be considered a weakness and his deep disrespect for those who try to order his free spirit around. Alastair is so blunt that he is often terrible with women even despite his attractive appearance and fruitless attempts to be nice. As he is currently without friends, he is usually alone and fights only for himself in a relative sense.

.__History__.

Personal History:

Alastair was born into a strange yet happily family and spent his earlier years in London England. His father Vincent was always an inexplicably happy and joyful man and his family was quite wealthy. His mother Evangeline tended to be a bit more shrewd and was very materialistic despite the fact that she cared deeply for her children. After apparently receiving a 'job' in the Caribbean, the Drake family crossed the Atlantic Ocean and landed in Antigua. There they built a great mansion close to the sea and Alastair's father bought his own vessel which he aptly named 'The Sea Serpent'. Shortly after Evangeline gave birth to twins: Victoria and James.

Despite the fact that Alastair's family had become whole, his father would often vanish (along with his ship) mysteriously. Vincent told his family he was but a succesful merchant sailor working for the East India Trading Company, but the fact remained that he was hiding his true identity. Bringing back inexplicable riches every so often, Alastair grew very suspicious of his father and his conquests. While his mother tended to the twins (who tended to be quite energetic and troublesome), he often wandered off and pulled out sharp sticks, pretending they were swords. Living a sheltered and relatively lonely life outside the family, he had to invent his own games as a child and they usually involved stabbing random objects as he began to become enraged with the serious lack of excitement or friends that he had. He loved the idea of being at sea and the open water always intrigued him. He decided that he would one day follow in his father's footsteps and become a sailor as well. Sadly, this would all change the day he found out his father's secret.

Alastair was 12 years old. His father had been away nearly a year and he was beginning to hate his life. His mother was always sick and she could no longer care for him: that was left up to the maids who could not offer quite the same kind of love. The twins coped well and helped out Evangeline when the could, but Alastair slowly became bitter. His father had abandoned them. One day, he went to the beach. Increasingly frustrated, he threw rocks at the water to release some of his anger. When was Vincent coming back?...
Suddenly, a dark shape appeared on the horizon. A ship became increasingly identifiable. But it wasn't just any ship: It was The Sea Serpent. Overwhelmed with joy, Alastair patiently awaited his father's return. But that's when things turned around. A British Navy ship appeared after it, followed by several others. The loud boom of cannon fire began to overtake the air. The Sea Serpent returned with blows of its own but was no match for the might of the Navy. The ship sunk after being positively pummeled by cannon balls. It wasn't long before Alastair began to question the possibilities.

As the Navy fleet made its way into port, Alastair took off towards town. A huge commotion began and the word of a pirate captain's capture spread. As Alastair pushed through the crowds of people, he froze in his place as his eyes fell upon his father. Handcuffed, the man he loved was being dragged to the main fort. In denial, Alastair followed, and eventually caught up with his father.
"I'm sorry I lied to you, eh" he laughed, "You'll always be my son. Take this"
Vincent wriggled from the officer's grasp and placed a small pendant in Alastair's hand, "Long live ya mate. My time's up"
The man simply smiled before he disappeared into the crowd. Growling in disbelief, Alastair persued the group and spent the night in town. The next day, the 12 year-old boy insisted on watching his own father's hanging along with the few survivors that remained from his crew. Clenching the pendant in his fist, he watched the most painful sight to scar his memory. At the same time, however, he knew it was destiny. Vincent had betrayed him. Vincent had betrayed his entire family.

From that day forth, Alastair vowed to stop pirates like his father and burn those damn traitors at the stake. A deep hatred awoke from inside of him and he enlisted in the British Navy. Eventually, due to his harsh personality, he became a privateer. His ruthlessness, determination and relatively loose morals were ideal for the the job and he has had this occupation since he was just over 13 years old.

.__Conclusion__.

In conclusion...
Alastair is a very strong and fiercely loyal privateer. He is the blurred line between good and evil - the one nobody can't quite decipher and figure out. Though he serves his King with noble intentions, he is deeply corrupted by himself and his thirst for betterment (or perhaps more bluntly, power). Heavily influenced by his past, it is likely only a matter of time before he turns on what is good inside of him.

RP example:

Standing at the bow of the ship, Alastair stared peered out at the sea infront of him. No sooner had he left port than those bloody pirates had come to him. Narrowing his stormy grey eyes, he glared malevolently at the dark silhouette of a ship just over the horizon. Even from his standing point he could see that wretched skull-and-crossbones flag and it made him sick to his stomach. Drawing a single rapier from his left side, he inspected the blade. Sharp, it was. Just the way he liked it. The surface was very clean but it was still possible to identify bloodstains near the tip of the ornate sword.

Smiling without much emotion, he knew he'd be killing again today. It had become a routine: Wake up, chase pirates, kill pirates, steal pirate booty and hand over a portion to the King. Although he didn't serve his Majesty directly, he was content enough that he frequently received letters of acknowledgement from said King. As a plus, he had robbed horde after horde of gold, silver, and other useful things. Rum seemed to be the norm, but even that was useful for vending purposes and the occasional drink.

A large spray of water overtook him and Alastair breathed in the fresh, salty scent of the ocean. Ah, it wouldn't smell so clean after that dirty pirate blood was shed. Not at all. Grimacing, the young man brushed back his white blouse and peered in disgust at the horrible scar that ran up his left side. Dispicable. Absolutely dispicable.
