[BRIT. ALLY] ●»» Out of Character Name/Alias: Holly Age: 16 Contact: pm Other Characters: none ●»» In Character .__General Info__. Full Name: Robert Peter Wesley van Garrith Nick name: Robert Nick Name Explanation: In being raised in a formal setting, any petnames he had acquired as a youngster were dropped at he matured, leading him to simply be referred to as Robert. Age: 21 Gender: male .__Appearance__. Overall Appearance: While the life of the wealthy had surrounded him in England with all its regulations on skin tones and powdered wigs, life in the Caribbean had done little to uphold those motherland traditions. His skin, unaccustomed to the harshness of the equatorial sun, has darkened beyond the accepted shade in England, though around his fellow islanders he melts easily into the backdrop. His hair, once concealed due to 'proper etiquette', falls loosely in mild curls around his head while constantly being cropped to a non-delinquent length. He stands strong at six feet, two inches, which is accentuated by his long-standing habits of correct posture, but his awkwardly long and skinny limbs steal away any chance of being physically impressive; however, the trade of ship building has blessed him with immense physical strength, though it doesn't show. What does show are the scars, caused by the naivety of apprenticeship, and the calluses, caused simply by building ships. His proud and proper upbringing has taught him to ignore these marks of bondage to the bottomless pit of his father's trade, which he has learned to do with ease at the balls and dinner parties his family still holds. It is these balls in which his tailored coats and powdered wigs appear, accompanied by the arsenal of what it is to be male, wealthy, and English. The mornings after these parties are when the true outfit of Robert comes to light: thick-soled leather boots, dirtied linen breeches, and an even dirtier cotton shirt. His belt held the tools her needed for the trade, along with a not-so-concealed short sword that kept most heathens at bay. As earlier mentioned, his posture was kept in his native correct state due to habit more than liking, though the fact the habit hadn't disappeared was no coincidence. He liked the attention he gained from appearing as if he was better than the miscreants around him, and so his posture was something he dwelled on quite frequently in public. Whenever at home, however, he went out of his way to be correct not to gain attention, but to keep his nagging mother satisfied. Every disregard of his teachings earned him another vile lecture from her, which was one of the many causes of his frequent absences from the house. Hopeful Celebrity: Ben Foster Picture: ![]() Effects: small sword (kept hidden when in public), pocket watch with a woman's name scratched inside .__Personality__. Personality: While the Caribbean had caused poor Robert to surrender his outward appearance, his inward attitude had remained mostly unchanged. The authority over drunkards, low-lives, and, when he is feeling especially self-righteous, over everyone in general. Most of the time though, he is tolerant of others, however incorrect their ways might be, and can occasionally disregard the ways of wealth and enjoy time with the locals, though these visits are quite infrequent and never last long. Most people assume he's anti-social, while in reality he's just tightly wound. In most things, he has learned to be patient, but this is never the case with his sister. Deeply fearful that she will be lost to the devilish delights piracy offers young women, he has starter to lose the leniency he once held when she made mistakes, an action that is gradually driving a very wide wedge between them. Robert has seen the prostitutes that roam about Tortuga, the result of the young women taken from their home ports, and will sacrifice anything to keep his sister from that life, even if it means having her hate him. While he has indeed learned to be patient, Robert has also learned a frightening temper and a quick sarcasm. He hates dealing with the locals, even the smart ones, and quickly slips into an arrogant Likes: England high society serving the King living up to his father's expectations women Dislikes: his mother pirates the unintelligent the Carribean Strengths: physical good character judgement knows ships Weaknesses: short temper shy judgemental .__History__. Personal History: see my sample post Family: Giselle van Garrith {sister} Squire Wesley van Garrith {father} Lady Meredith van Garrith {mother} Love Interests on TTC: none to speak of .__Conclusion__. Any extra information we need to know about? don't think so RP example: The lessons. The books. The years spent learning their ways. Wasted. I shake my head in disbelief, staring across the sun skidded crests of the ocean. Giselle, such a silly girl, thinks this is beauty; its not. I know what it is: its a prison. Its the temptuous guard opening the iron door to freedom, to the life I was meant to live in England, but the sea and her cruel ways slams the cage down every time I dream of what my life could have been. Giselle thinks of this place as some sort of mystical playland, yet there was nothing she sacrificed to come here. I pull out the pocket watch, open its clasped lid with ease, and stare at the woman's name engraved into its tarnishing lid. I remember a time when my stare was that of longing and heart-sickness, the remnants of a love separated by thousands of miles of water, but not altogether lost. My mental image of her is gone, lost to ten years of isolation, but what she represents will always be in my heart: my life in England. I clench the pocket watch closed, wrapping my entire fist around it and squeezing until i feel its metal body strain under the force of my hand. The lessons in propriety, of how to eat and how to dress and how to talk, a complete waste! Twenty-one summers I have consumed, and not a single shortened breath of holding myself the tallest i could manage has done me one ounce of good! Damn my mother, that wretched woman and her fantastical world of make believe. She and her lessons and tutors will one day drowned in their editions of the proper and the right. And, daily, to slave in the sun and be greeted by scoundrel pirates carousing the streets as I force my weary body home. One day I will build myself a ship and sail off, regardless of direction, if it means I will never have to see the likes of any of them again! No, no. I shake my head in a real response to my unreal decisions. I will not leave. Granted, there is no woman, no obligations holding me here, but her. Giselle. I could never do that to her. The last ten years here have taught me not to leave her alone for a second, a slice of a second, for her resolve is easily melted under the parades of pirates. I will build my ships, as I have for ten years, to defeat these men; men of no honor, men of deserving extinction. And all the while, I will watch over her, despite her protests, for the day I see her winged soul caged in a pirate's bed, I will have failed the only joy in my life. ●»» Confirmation .__Proof of Plot__. All I have to say is WOW. Bravo! You make me want to go and edit my application! I am definitely accepting you. I'm also going to let the personal history section slide. Besides, I think Giselle's history will some it up for the two of us, plus your rp example is lovely! <3 You are Accepted! Though, before I move this topic, there is something I need you to change first. Squire Wesley Van Garrith is the one plans the ships' designs and how they are to be built. He is basically the head architect of his business. So, maybe, so you don't have to chnage a ton of things, you could add that his father makes him help with the ship building so that he has a hands on idea of how ships are built and how they work. Also, you need to read the second to last paragraph in the rules. It tells you how to find the last confirmation lol. WELCOME! I'm glad to have a brother...well Gissy is anyways! XD |

Ha ha! Yeah, I was looking at that last night and thinking "is there any way I can avoid having to write a history and a sample?" sorry about that. I was a little confused about the whole family thing, so I copied what giselle had for parents. Ok, I jsut now got it. I thought it was referring to click the exclamation points if you couldn't figure out - oh nevermind. I got it now. Cute though. Very cute. Well anyhow, thanks for accepting me! I'm really excited about finally finding an rpg that is active (and isn't about horses!) |
