Rushden and Diamonds Appoint Galvin as Manager
Posted Image
Following the descision of former manager Justin Edinbrough to step down, chairman Keith Cousins has appointed Irishman Kevin Galvin to take the reigns at Nene Park. Galvin was an accomplished professional footballer, winning multiple Irish titles with his home club Cork City and was capped over 50 times for the Emerald Isle before sustaining a back injury from which he never recovered. While never playing in Britain he was approached by a number of clubs, including Celtic and Manchester United, but never took up those offers.

Speaking at a Press Conference today Galvin spoke about how happy he is to be in the managing side of things. 'The injury was very hard to take of course, but I had a good stretch and I can't wait to be on the other side of the sideline. It's always something I was interested in and I can't wait to get cracking. I'm really happy to have the chance to work here, I got an offer from Drogheda as well but this club has limitless potential, and that's what settled it for me. We have a decent side and I doubt I'll be making any changes but I will bring in a new face or two.'

Galvin's first game is at home to lowly Forest Green Rovers, who are struggling in 20th position.

Diamonds come out on top after scrappy game
Posted Image
In a poor game at Nene Park today Kevin Galvin secured his first win as Rushden and Diamonds manager with a 1-0 win over relegation fighters Forest Green Rovers. A goal from Daryl Clare in the 33rd minute secured all three points for the Northamptonshire outfit which sees them rise to 8th in the table, only a point outside the playoff places.

'It was a good win, not very pretty but wins like these shows character in teams. We've a great bunch of lads here and if we can keep playing well from here until the end of the season then we'll have a great shout of going up'

Galvin brings another Irishman to Nene Park as Diamonds enjoy easy win
Posted Image
Former Cork Ciity and Halifax town player Brian O'Callaghan has signed for Rushden and Diamonds on a two year contract. The FAI Cup winner was a favourite at Barnsley and enjoyed spells with Notts County, Cork City, Halifax Town and Limerick 37 and even a short period in Iceland! The Diamonds enjoyed a brilliant win over Mansfield Town at Field Mill also, running out comfortable 3-0 winners. An own goal from Stags goalkeeper Alan Marriott and two from Irish striker Daryl Clare has hoisted the Diamonds into the Playoff places.

'It was a brilliant win and I couldn't be prouder of the lads, we're in the playoffs now and I expect us to push on to the higher places in our quest for promotion. The signing of Brian was one based on previous expierence. I knew him during his time at Cork City and he's a good strong defender, hopefully he can do the business for us at the back!'

Two losses on the bounce sends Diamonds out of the playoff spots
Posted Image
Two 3-2 losses to first Cambridge and Burton Albion has sent Rushden and Diamonds crashing back down the table to 9th. A goal from Marcus Kelly and Terry Dixon's first goal in a Diamond shirt couldn't help Kevin Galvin's side when they succombed to Cambridge at home. Dixon got himself on the scoresheet again away to 2nd placed Burton, the Diamonds took a 2-1 lead just after half time with an own goal but two goals in the last 15 minutes from Shaun Harrad secured his hat-trick and the win for the Albion.

'It's very dissapointing'
Galvin said after the Burton game 'The home loss to Cambridge was poor enough considering we're promotion contenders, and to lose like this today with a goal in the 89th minute, it's shatering. But we'll just have to pick ourselves up off the floor and start again, the playoff's are still a very realistic goal with the top of the table being so close'

Diamonds get back on track with 3-0 win
Posted Image
Rushden and Diamonds got back to winning ways as they beat mid table Lewes 3-0 at Nene Park. Goals from Daryl Clare, Terry Dixon and Curtis Osano saw an easy win. The win does not however change their league position, the Diamonds are 2 points outside a playoff place

'Great win and great performance. Good to see that we're not short for goals and Terry and Curtis had fantastic games!'

Diamonds secure another win
Posted Image
Rushden and Diamonds have edged one point closer to the playoff spots with a win over lowly Weymouth. The Terras were 1-0 up at half time with a well taken lee Phillips goal, but a swift second half comeback saw two goals by Daryl Clare secure 3 points with a Marcus kelly goal putting the icing on the cake and move the Diamonds up to 8th in the Blue Square Premier table.

'Great win for us and shows the team's character. After going in at 1-0 I tore into the lads and it was brilliant to see how well they responded to it'
