Hey peeps

K. What is AWESOM-O? It is the Advanced Word Espoused Sentence Organiser and Maker One Thousand.

What does it do? Takes a lot of random phrases and throws them into a sentence. This is often funny, but to the point:

This is a competition, kinda. Details will be edited in later. If your interested in doing a speed paint, download AWESOM-O(a measly 200 Kb).
Extract the download to C:\AWESOMO (So that the Folder C:\AWESOMO is created, with the files in that destination. else it won't work.)

In the folder you should find AWESOMO v 1.05. That's the program - the rest is hust part of the database - we'll get to that later.

The interface should be easy enough. For now, stay away from the "Add phrase in edit box to"-panel. Let's stick to the "generate" button for now.

Click on Generate! The idea is that you create a speed paint with whatever sentence pops up first. Don't expect things that make sense, and prepare for some pretty mundane scenarios!

What is a speed paint? It's a digital painting created in either Photoshop or Corel Painter (no other software of which I am aware) in less than 1 hour! LESS than 1 hour is important.

EDIT!!!!: Ok, I tried one and found that and object, a subject, a setting AND an action is too much for 1 hour really. So don't worry about the time limit really - just make sure your painting retains the energy, movement and vibe that makes a speedpaint. In other words, don't be Captain Renderman!!

Simple rules:

- MUST be created in either PS or Painter.
- Your generated AWESOMO sentence of what you painted must also be submitted, or you will be disqualified.
- All artwork MUST be your own - no taking tracing or copying other peeps.
- NO Filters: strictly painting tools. Several layers are allowed, but not recommended: makes it all longer and harder.
- Size: scale down to 800x600 or 640x480. Not too small not too big. This doesn't mean you need to work on that canvas size - just keep it in that general area!
- I think there are more rules, but I'll post them when I think of them.
- Vector graphics aren't allowed.

If unsure about anything, I'd be glad to answer. Closing date and so forth will be established.

Have phun! ;)

hehe - I'd know - been doing this for some time. The idea is that you don't try and get all the details in. Speed paint is a 'genre' of its own - trying to do a speed paint over 6 hours is disaster.

The best speedpaints are done in about 45 min. Once you start working too much on it, you lose the enrgy that makes a speed paint.

In other words: people that spend more time on their's won't get good results, and their's will automatically be bad.

Have fun!

Hey guys

RD: Thnx bro, really appreciated.

Mong: You and your entry will automatically get entered into the CE Hall of Fame (I still need to create that thread). I'll be putting the best artwork of the site into that thread for all to gaze at (no replies). Other than that I'm not sure - how about I pm the winner(s) with a collection of cool artwork by the pros?

Any other suggestions more than welcome!!

Dr. Heidi: K, I don't want too much of a preconception of what must be done, but here are two varied enough speed paints. Unfortunately I am not behind either - wish I was. These are some of my favourites.

However, don't feel like you need to stick to this - go wild!

I have never used photoshop to paint, mainly because I don't enjoy using real paints. But this seems like a good way to start.

Can you use reference material, or should everything be drawn from memory?
