guys...
jisses... 1200 - 1800 is 600MHz, YES, BUT, they are using DDR ram, so you divide that by 2...
meaning that they added 300 MHz...
because 1200MHz is 600MHz DDR... and 1800MHz is 900MHz DDR.
So EFFECTIVELY, from a hardware perspective, they're upping the memory speed by 300 MHz... no more

Yeah, Ok i see what you meant.

Still, it's a huge leap in clockspeed

Hey remember one thing....it's Samsung 1.2 (or 1.1) nano second memory, and that's exactly what makes the R520 Fudo so overclockable as they say, and you've seen in another thread on in this section. Yup 900 might be a long shot, but who knows, and I do not believe anything the IQ states...some might be true, but most of the time it is more a game of wait and see what they bring out. I know the 512mb should make a difference at high detail.......all depends on your screen in the end.

Make no mistake, that samsung 1.1 ns memory is quick, and also then GDDR4 are just around the corner as well....(Samsung) Leadership through products....except hard drives

LOOL

Guys - in the end, whoever has the best card wins, but only for about 3 months until the better cards come out ;)

I know for a FACT that I'd love any of these next gen cards :D

Er... I was told that more RAM for graphics cards doesn't really matter much if you're using PCIe, because the card pretty much has direct access to your RAM. So on my PCIe 1Gb DDR533 machine, it makes almost no difference?

Be nice to see what the new cards do though... nVidia always brags about hardware, but then their software sucks, and you pretty much have to rely on 3rd-party tweaks to make the card extra sparkly...

Elya....nah, I would state that the latter, with regards to the software sucks relates more to ATI. But in the end I would say it's personal choice. At present I would rather sit with a 6800Ultra, the X850XTPE, purely because I know the Nvidia software, and I know how to get the most out of the card...

That is true, But The reason for more memory is simple. Higher resolutions, more stuff to load into onbaord memory at once, before going for system ram.

AA And AF just use power of your hardware, and no extra memory

I checked, and yes there are alot of 6800 512mb cards. You get the plain vanilla, GT, and Ultra in 512mb Variations!

The asus DUAL GPU 6800 ULTRA is also 512mb!

Okay ppl....here you have the story....one of the new 7800GTX 512's, and I want one...... Nvidia.....all the way..580Mhz core and 1730Mhz memory.....

Quote:

OUR COLLEAGUES at MVKtech.net forums managed to get the picture of Nvidia's upcoming Geforce 7800 GTX 512 MB card. But Nvidia made the site take it off. However, you can find the original thread and the picture here
The card has a monstrous cooler and we believe we have seen this card before, someone leaked it before but Nvidia has categorically denied it and said that this is a Quadro cardbut we now know it is not.

The same chaps managed to grab a BIOS from an XFX Geforce 7800 GTX 512MB and the chaps learned that XFX card obviously clocked even higher than the specs, it's working at 580MHz core and 1730MHz memory in 3D, the throttle frequency is 500MHz core and 1730MHz memory while in 2D card, you switch to a 275MHz core and 1730MHz memory.

Since you can already download that BIOShere this means that XFX cards are almost available and that the company is just waiting for Nvidia's whistle to start selling them in retail. A week or two from now anyway. µ
