It's a diverse genre (I'm not talking about racing games though) with plenty to offer, I say. Do any of you take advantage of its existance? I haven't played a good sport game in ages, the last one being Tiger woods 2002, due to the fact that other titles getting my hyped up. But after 3 years I've discovered FIFA06 and Pro Evolution Soccer 5 and I'm suitably impressed with the progress that sports titles have made. I am definitely going to purchase one of these soccer titles. It got me wondering if the other sports titles have also reached this level of perfection and polish? Anyone care to inform me? |

I don't generally play Sporting titles. They tend to bore me pretty quick. The last sports title I bought was Tiger Woods 2004. Not a bad game at all, but I waited for it to become a budget buy. I played it for about a week and I haven't even looked at it since. This was about 7 months ago. I also had a Rugby EA game, but that was sh1te. I do not enjoy soccer at all and all the Cricket titles are just plain crap. I will never invest a great deal of money on a sports title. |

I think soccer games are (obviously) the most refined titles... check out reviews for FIFA and Pro evo soccer and you'll see that they get well into the 90% reviews. I'm not a soccer fan (I do appreciate the sport most the time) but I thoroughly enjoy those two soccer games, the simply amaze me. I'd like to get my hands on the NEXT tiger woods game too |

Brian Lara 2005 is very enjoyable. Unfortunately it also suffers from the same things that plagued all previous Cricket games. The single player is very imbalanced. An example: I play as England against the Australians in a 20 overs match. I bat first and score 270 (run rate of 13.5!) for the loss of 8 wickets. Australia then chase my score but they either get about 120 for 6 wickets, or I bowl them out for under 100 runs. Cricket games are great fun for multiplayer, but if you want to play a competitive game against the computer, forget about it. There are AI patches out there, but most of them have their own problems. The only way to really enjoy a single player game is by batting against yourself, ie, when you complete your batting innings, you save, quit, load and swap teams and try to get the runs your previously scored with the other team. |

Thankfully soccer games are very challenging and the AI is something to be reckoned with. I played the Cricket 2005 demo but I was quite dissapointed... |

EA's 2005 is crap, but you should give Brian Lara's a chance. |

Tiger woods 2004 and 2005 are great golfing titles. And most of you have seen the screenies for Tiger woods 2006. Nuff said. I am actually playing TW2004 again, how weird is that? LOOL! I also tried the fifa06 thing, and man the game is enjoyable. if you crank your sound a bit, it really feels like you are there, with the crowds cheering and stuff. ANd this coming from a man that does not like soccer to much. Scoring a goal, leaves a huge smile on your face! Brian Lara Cricket 2005 is definitly on my shopping list. From what I have seen it is rather good. Cricket2005 demo was ok, but I will give it a skip, cause it feels a tad bit bland, and hitting sixes becomes way to easy if your batsman is at the crease for a while. |

Yeah man! There is no feeling like scoring a goal in Fifa!! And the sound is amazing... the commentary + crowd... Dude - try out the "wolrd soccer" pro evo 5 demo on the new NAG dvd - it's fukcing awesome... even more ball control than FIFA. And you DON'T have to like soccer to enjoy these games!!! And yeah dude - I saw the tiger woods screenies - can't wait!!! |

True - Golf games are definitely on par... but less popular sports like Rubgy and Cricket are falling behind. I once played Madden Football and I must say - amazing game |

INdeed dude. It rocks. I love the way you can buy attributes for your character, and you have all those name brand clothing and euipment to buy. Choosing different shafts, and clubheads really makes a different, and keeps real golfers like me happy!!!!!!!!!!! |
