Thanks dude! I'll have a look at my budget!

Now, Do i wait for the new X1800XL/XT cards or get the Nvidia 7800GTX?

Dude - check the pricing on the cards.

Check how much you can spend - and come back to us and we'll tell you which card is better

YAF. get an Asus A8nSLI Deluxe mobo. That are not badly priced at all. You can even get the normal A8n SLi, cause the only thinkg that set's it apart from its big brother is the fact that the Deluxe has 4 EXTRA sata ports and an extra Network card. You planning on using your pc as a firewall, or connecting more than 4 SATA drives? I thought not. The A8n SLI is an awesome mobo dude. Couple that with an AMD 64bit 939 3200 Cpu or up, and you have a very very very decent rig dude!

As SOE said, check the pricing. I am sure the 7800GTX will cost about 80-150 pounds less than the X1800 dude!

Well its not really a case of what I spend cause all the stuff is in pounds here!

For instance the new ATi X1800XL:

and the NVidia 7800GTX:
an OC'ed version:

and another not OC'ed one:

The ATI costs very much the same as the Nvidia!

But is the X1800XL better than the 7800GTX?

Yes. The X1800XL is a beast...

*sigh*

My judgement is skewed - the X1800 is the faster card though.

:dodge:

Now I know why people choose sides. I love nVidia but I now own a faster ATI card - I still love nVidia though... but I'm getting a lot of flak from people like maplassie (I think it's jealousy though...)

But it's true - the X1800 is a faster card.

But if you want SLI (two cards at the same time) you'll need a 7800GTX unless you get a crossfire enabled motherboard (which allows 2 ATI cards at the same time)

If you're getting a single card, the X1800 is the fastest.

Yeah, but it is not as if you will actually notice the difference in the 2. Only benching will prove that it is faster. You wont even see it.

You get the X1800XL...which need to be compaired to the 7800GT. Then you get the big brothers, the X1800XT which you can compair to the 7800GTX. The X1800XT...not XL is the fastest. then the 7800GTX then the 7800GT and short on the GT's heals will be the X1800XL..... Actuall the GT and XL is about the same......
