ALLEN PARK, MICHIGAN (TICKER)  -- The holdout for Calvin Johnson is over.

The second overall pick, Johnson signed a six-year contract with Detroit on Friday, eight days after the Lions' opened training camp.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Regarded as the top offensive player in the draft, Johnson finished his three-year career at Georgia Tech as the school's all-time leader in receiving yards (2,927) and touchdowns (28). He also ranked second in receptions with 178.

Last year, Johnson tied for second in the nation in touchdowns with 15 while establishing a single-season record for the Yellow Jackets with 1,202 receiving yards on 78 receptions. He was honored with the Biletnikoff Award as the nation's top receiver, and named the Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Year.

After a 3-13 campaign last season, the Lions made Johnson for the fourth receiver they have drafted in the first round in the past five years.

Great news, glad this didn't go any farther. I can't wait to see our new offense. Kitna,Jones/Bell/Duckett,Williams/Johnson/Furrey/McDonald. As long as our defense can hold them under 21 we will be an above .500 team.

Who thinks that Stanton will be starting at QB by the end of this year?

Maybe next year, but no way this season. Stanton is coming off an injury already. The Martz offense is a hard one to learn so I don't think he'll be ready over Dan-O. Dan had a year to learn the offense and knows what he is doing and I've only heard good things about Dan. Kitna will be the starter the whole season unless he gets hurt.

No way he loses it. He was 4th in the NFL in passing yards. He threw as many TD's as INT's last year, but that was, because he had to throw the ball, because we were always losing. He has a better understanding of the offense and now has a better offense as well.
