I had the pleasure of removing this problem from my daughters laptop.
You can tell you have it if your search engine results get redirected to a website other than the one the link should point to.

Ie you search for Facebook and the link comes up www.facebook.co.uk but when you click it leads to another site.

So what do you do.

First download Malware bytes, dont run it cos the virus wont let you.

Now take your windows disk ie WinXP ( I assume that vista is same but i dont know) .
Boot from the disk and wait for the promt where you can run the recovery console.
Run the recovery console ® and log into your windows install (Usually 1), Administrator Pwd will be required.
Then type listsvc, and this will list services, it should list Uacd.sys.
Now type Disable Uacd.sys to stop the service, you will get some feedback telling you the service is disabled.
Now EXIT and when windows has launched run a virus scan.
Once complete install Malware Bytes and scan, this should remove the problem and your links will be yours.

Hope this helps.

Sarek.
