While doing a bit of shopping today I decided now I have money coming in properly to have a look at some pcs. This laptops 5 years old now and is only jut hanging in there.

Anyway, was thinking of building one but can only afford about £150 a month tops to spend on parts so would take forever to build with the setup i roughly planned, plus Im so bad when it comes to electronic stuff even if it is simply putting things into the right slots.

I saw this one today, and as far as Im aware its pretty good (even though its a little pricey) and through financing can pay £105 a month for it with no interest.Acer aspire predator

So what I ask you is can anyone find anything better for that price which doesnt involve me building it and I can pay monthly?

This'll make things a lot more expensive :S

edit: after studying the specs I can only say: gheez, this thing is totally OVERPRICED. If I'd get the parts separately I'd only spend half of its price tag on it. The Vista License probably bumps up the price tag quite a bit, but then again, who wants Vista anyway? :P

I do want windows 7 as I hear its far better, and yes I know not building it will bump up the price but with my current situation I dont see it happening, me having the concentration or the patience to wait until I can afford every part, and yes I know its going to be expensive to buy but this one time Im willing to, anything to get me a far better computer, and realistically in the future I can just add new parts to the expensive machine I buy

So guildies!

What Sarus wants and needs is a nicely specced machine that won't cost him the muthafookin' earth!

...built by a nice friendly shop! With Vista or windows 7. Yer... XP is still nice, but it won't be supported forever.... and vista has had a lot of probs ironed out, so it's not as bad as peeps say now.

Hmm... will look into this for you, Sar... i seem to remember a website that reviewed online pc shops.

Thanks for the chat earlier about this V, ive decided to take back all previous statements as I may have found a financing thing online and can build myself a nice computer. Me and Sap spent a good amount of time looking at parts and getting the right bits for the right prices so have made quite a nice little rig for just over £800... now to check I can get the financing and tada, a computer will be mine

Don't you know anybody that can assemble a pc and would be willing to do so if you ask him nicely (or give him a few bucks)? Even if you paid the guy 50euros for it you'd still end up with much more money than a pre-assembled pc.

Awesome!

I didn't like the look of the one you first looked at, either... they offer no details of components that i can see, and that always makes me suspicious that a company don't know what they're doing. Or that they do, but want to rip you off.

All in all very nice components that should produce a great PC. What OS you choose?

Overclockers are good I use them all the time and nothing like building it and switching it on. I had a few head scratchy moments when i started putting them together but one of the easiest things to do and most rewarding to get it running.

Good Luck

That's a quad core you are looking at. So not just one processor with 2.40GHz, but four of em :P

Sarus are you sure the parts fit together? if so, are you going to assemble it yourself or are you letting the company do it for you? (might have not read it, if it has been said /lazy)

If you are planning to assemble the parts yourself, I'd suggest you to not do that. The processor has so many tiny VERY important parts on him that can easily break when applying on your motherboard (which happened to a friend of mine). and I presume u don't wanna buy 2 processors.

Let the company itself assemble ur parts. Might cost a bit more, but still less than a new processor.

I assembled several processors myself and didn't have any problems. Assuming that with tiny parts you mean the pins (which are the only vulnerable tiny parts sticking out, the rest is tucked away behing the casing), I guess that your friend tried to push the thing into the slot, which you should NEVER do! You only need to position the chip over the slot and it should fall gently into place. Or maybe he had the chip facing the wrong direction, since you cannot put a chip into the slot facing any direction.

The chip nitpicking aside, elex makes a valid point. Double check if every part fits on your mainboard or you might end up with parts which you cannot use at all. (Happened to me before when I assumed my old DDR RAM would fit in a DDR2 RAM slot :P ).
