A man about the height of the average man is seen before you. He wears a jokers hat which is of gaudy colors much like his flamboyant clothing. His face is contorted in a malevolent smile that portrays inner pain and agony. He lets out a cry a strikes you with a barrage of cards...

A card hand is a corrupted and demented human who has failed his life by gambeling all that he owned and cherished away at the table of a card game. More often than not, the bid there own familiy, murdered them, or commited suicide due to the losses in their game. Corrupted by the power of their game, they were unable to find peace in death, forever trapped in a body which is always loosing.

Spell-Like abilties: Luck 10/day, Second Chance 5/day

Card: When attacking, a card hand uses a deck of cards to deal damage. The damage is decided by the card drawn (ace=1, 2=2, 3=3 ect... Face cards are unique). The cards are drawn randomly, and the face cards are removed from the deck as they are drawn.

Jack: Gives the Card Hand an ally that acts as the Sheild spell but looks like the jack on the card. Each jack can only be drawn once per day.

King: Gives the Card Hand two attacks at full attack modifier for 10 rounds. Only rounds on which the Card Hand attacks count against this amount. The second attack is the same as the primary( the first attack was a spade5, the second attack is a 5spade), unless it was a face card, in which case the second card is drawn seperately(drawing a king, then you draw again. If it is still a face card, regulate it as if it were a normal draw). Each king can only be drawn once per day.

Queen: Heals the Card Hand 5d10 damage. Each queen can only be drawn once per day.

Spade: Slashing Damage

Heart: Wounding Damage

Club: Bludeoning Damage

Dimond: Peircing Damage

Joker: Will save 16 or die as by the Finger of Death spell.

Trademark Joker: Card Hand rolls a will save 16 or die as by the Finger of Death spell. (this does not allow for the Lasting Conviction)

Critical hits deal x2 damage(normal cards), heal twice as much(queen), function twice as well(jack sheilds for 10 and king modifies for 10 rounds), or increase the save DC by +4(if either joker) depending the card drawn.

Lasting Conviction: Once a Card Hand is dropped to 0 hit points it is destroyed. On it's body lays a single deck of cards. Any being who posesses this deck of cards must suceed a will save 14 or fall under the effect of a Suggestion spell and begin to gamble all his wealth away. Each day he succeds his save, the save for the next day increases by +1. This item looks like a finely carved card box with exqusite cards within it. Appraisal places it's value at 75gp. This deck cannot be removed from the weilder with anything short of a remove curse. The jokers in the deck look exactly as the Card Hands defeated, and slowly change to teh image of it's current weilder with each failed save.

Actually, Sylvaks' characteristics would have him take the deck of cards due to it's obvious value. Oh, and Sylvak often takes unnessary gambles just to see what will happen or to make a certain dramatic flare... so overall... I would say his character would take it as long as his player does not Metagame.

Heh sure, whatever. Falls to the hands of the Dm now doesn't it? Anyways, I didn't really get the idea from anywhere, and I don't even remember what inspired it in the first place.

what would happen if you kill one and then use another object to lift it from the card hand? would it still make you want to gamble or not? and what if you find the deck to an already dead card hand in a store and buy it?

As long as it is not in your possession you do not need to roll a will save to make sure you don't fall under it's control. Thus a long pole, mage hand, or anything else that does not involve you actually possessing the item you can do to avoid the Lasting Conviction.

As for the shop keeper... Yes it can be bought. IF the shop keeper picks up the item (thus posessing it) he must roll the will save or will not part with the item. If he succeeds his will save or does not posess it, then he can sell it to you. As soon as you posess it, you have to roll the will save or fall under the power of the Lasting Conviction.
