------------------------------------------------Blue Mage------------------------------------ The flow of magic is all around every person living on Satharath. Is lives in every living being, including the plants, celestials, and the infernal demons and devils. It is a part of everything, and some people can tap this energy. Sorcerers are born with a direct connection to the mana rift, while a Wizard learns the words of the mana rift and pull that energy to them. A blue mage, however, works quite diffrently. Their bodies are not connected to the mana rift, they cannot learn the words of magic. But they were given a power over those who could. Most likely a gift from the god of magic himself, Blue mages can cause their bodies to absorb magic directed to them, giving them a temporary connection to the Mana rift. Each spell targeted at the Blue mage opens a small stream to the blue mage, letting him "learn" these abilities. Blue mages are often out in the world, finding stronger and more experienced magical foes so they can open new streams of magic. They often put themselves in extreme danger, facing demons, devils, celestials, and dragons of all colors. NPC blue mages will most likely help any person who helps him get a spell stream open (by helping him face a foe) or who can themselves open a mana stream for them (by being able to cast what he is looking for themselves). Hit Die: d6 Alignment: Any Chaotic Skills: as the Rogue Skill points at each level: as the rogue Special: A blue mage CANNOT be of any arcane classes and may never become any class that casts arcane magic.
Spell Power is the maximum amount of spell levels a Blue Mage is able to remember at any given time. Mana Points are how many spell levels a Blue mage is able to cast per day. These are rejuvinated at the end of a 8-hour rest period (4-hour meditation for elves) or can be recovered by various Blue Mage abilities. Magic Aura: The Blue mage has a strong magical aura around him. If spells such as detect magic are used within radius of the Blue mage the caster will see a strong aura of magic from the blue mage, nullifying any attempt while they can still see the blue mage. Annex Stance: This is simply a readied action against magical attacks. you must be in this stance to begin any Annex Ability. All abilities are useless without the following checks; first take a DC15+spell level spellcraft check to identify the spell being cast. If this step is successful, proceed to rolling a concentration check equal to 10+caster level+spell level+targets casting stat (Wis, Int, Cha). Annex Spell:If the Annex Stance is successful a Blue Mage of 1st level can add the spell observed to his Spell list. **A blue mage cannot memorize a spell that is of a higher level than his Blue mage level. He casts spells at the same level as they were cast at him, but uses his own Charisma modifier to see if the spell is successful. Spell Siphon: If the Annex Stance is successful, a blue mage of third level can completely buffer any spell he is currently able to cast. (Can be used once per round) Transform Spell Energy: Using Transform Energy, a Blue Mage can cause any spell that hits him to add energy to his Essence Pool. It does not negate the spells effect, nor does it add the spell to the Blue Mage's spell list. Spell Immunity: When in your Annex Stance, You can place a shield of magic energy that protects you from magical harm in all ways. Thsi is taxing on your essence pool, and for every spell level of magic it buffers, you loose two Essence Points. This works against supernatural effects like Dragon's breath, reducing the damage of the ability by 1dice per Blue Mage level. Any surpassing damage from supernatural sources still effect the Blue Mage. Spell Reflection: A Blue mage has at his final level acquired such an expansive control over the mana rift that he is able to forcibly redirect magical attacks targeted at him. While in Annex Stance, you are able to forcefully redirect a spell that you just used Spell Immunity on back against the original caster. |
