You see and hear about them often. You feel bad for their families but you can never fathom it would happen within your own family. 2 nights ago, Josh's (my husband) cousin shot himself after he shot his father (Josh's uncle). I met this person 2 weeks ago and got to get to know him. Now he's gone. His father is gone, a quiet man I've known for some time, but didn't know all that well. I didn't want to post anything here at first, appearing to need attention. However, being it so unimaginable, I had to share it and hope you all hug your loved ones today. If you see any signs of trouble within your family, get them help. Give them help. Recognize signs... http://www.wctrib.com/articles/index.cfm?id=43464 http://www.wctrib.com/articles/index.cfm?id=43511 Edited by jezebel, Nov 5 2008, 09:17 AM.

Jesus. For what it's worth Jez, I hope you continue use this outlet as a source to process this madness. None of us can pretend to relate, but the very fact that you brought it up does indeed prove that this is a safe house. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. |

oh thank you. We are doing fine. Josh is slowly processing it. He is healing by being there with his dad so he's not alone. It's a small community, a big BIG family, lots of people involved and lots of people mad and sad. Even though he committed an unspeakable act (2 actually), I couldn't see it in the short time I knew him. He was so fun and nice. Just goes to show that mental illness and depression can be hidden from friends and family. Some people just don't want help. It will be an emotional funeral, different from my grandma's funeral... which was expected and not as much of a shock. |

thanks again. I am ok, it's my husband and his siblings & father who are really suffering. We just got back from the wake & funeral. The catholic church had over 1000 people attend the wake, I am pretty sure. The line just went and went... the family consoled every person for 6 hours straight, 2 hours past the time the wake was supposed to end. The funerals were 1 1/2 hours long. I think the whole town attended. Standing room only, at a catholic church. I wish it was appropriate to take pictures. The good thing that came out of the trip, as with most funerals, there were many relatives that Josh and his family were able to reconnect with. Many of them he just met for the first time! 3 or 4 cousins and an aunt. That was pretty cool. |
