ok so today is my 4 weeks of no smoking. I quit 4 weeks ago today.

I also started running 3 weeks ago since I found out how nice it was to breath deeply again.
I can actually run without gasping for air!!! I haven't ran since I was a teenager.
Not sure if I can manage my goal, but my goal is to do a 5k by the end of summer.
We'll see though. I used to hate running, it was so hard to do. But smoking didn't help.

Now to quit driving. If I didn't have a toddler, I'd buy a scooter.

Congrats Jez!

I started running imediately after quitting too. It was a good aggression filter. Keep with it. It only gets easier. I will be coming up on 3 years this september of being smoke free.

It all in the mind and the strength to never start again.

This may sound bad, but it is actually easy...it's ALL about full-on will power.

Ciggs still smell good though. :-/

i agree with you 100%!!!!

It IS easy! One day I just had enough. I quit. A week later my mom gave me a book called "The Easy Way to Stop Smoking" and it's all about
brain washing yourself out of smoking and self hypnosis... sort of. But I have enjoyed quitting every single day. I feel like I never smoked or tried
smoking and I never have looked at a cigerette longingly. I never miss it or want one. It's really wierd!!!!

Do you still run?

I rarely run rigt now, but that's probably due to spending time with my (almost) 1 yr old.

If you want a fun tool to track how you are doing, go to:

www.quitnet.com

Here is my stats on there...

Congrats to you! That's awesome.

If you want to run and spend time with your 1 year old, they make excellent jogging strollers.
That's what I use. It is a good upper body workout too, and Chloe is 2 1/2 years and loves to go fast.
The weight added to push her in the stroller is great on the arms. Then we stop at the park and play and
run back home.

on that website, Quitnet, it says I have quit for 28 and saved $98.
That's incorrect, I've saved over $119.00.

But anywhoooooo...... My new tennies cost $89.00 so that makes me feel good. A nice reward for quitting.

The only time I really, really want to quit is when I'm sick. Any thoughts?

Because that when your body is telling most that it doesn't like it.

That book I read is a good one, Josh. If you believe in brainwashing, you should read it.
I like to think I am beyond brainwashing, but nobody is. Plus, I welcome positive brainwashing
that helps me quit smoking.
It's a book, buy it on Amazon. You get to keep smoking while you read it, in fact, it's required.
It's part of the "treatment". By the time you are 1/2 way through reading the book, you can't
WAIT to quit. No joke. The writer smoked 100 a day. A DAY!
For 40 years or something crazy like that. No medicine, no patch, no gum, no withdrawal anything!
No pain. No agony. No longing for a cigarette. Just.... done. Like you never started.
Seriously, can it hurt to read a book? What if I mailed you mine, than you wouldn't have to buy one.
You can read a page a day and smoke, to make it last longer if you want. What have you got to lose?
Send me your address and I'll mail it to you. You can have my copy, I'm done with it.
