Are you Willis boys still fans of the beautiful game?

I just got season tickets for the Minnesota Thunder of the USL, and I'm pumped about it. Best franchise in the Twin Cities. I even made Schneids come out to a game last year (I think he enjoyed himself).

If you get the hankering to watch a game, these are fun and quality play at that.

During the US Open Cup we usually draw an MSL team at home, and two years ago we defeated 3 MLS teams in a run to the Semi-Finals, where we lost to LA Galaxy. Good fun, I was maced in Kansas City.

Don't poo poo it kids, it's like watching European style ball at Concordia in St. Paul minus the riots.

There is chanting, smoke bombs, tailgating, and hot nuts though.

Well worth it!!!!!

Good stuff and it's a better value then watching the T-Wolves or Queens IMHO.

We should all go this spring then sometime darnit!!!! (Best value for your sporting dollar in the Twin Cities IMHO. Unless you got a media pass and you see everything for free.)

And the best part of Thunder games? No Sid Hartman.

Yeah, after we defeated KC, two teenagers from Kansas City went after these two teenagers that were from Minnesota (not from our group though, I had never seen them) right in front of me. My buddy Bruce and I stepped in and grabbed a kid a piece and just when things were calming down this little (short) security guard ran in and maced me. He sprayed directly into my eyes, which would lead me to believe he's never used the stuff before and that he was perhaps on the overzealous side.

Bruce and I both ended up handcuffed on the field and writhing in pain, but witnesses from both teams vouched for our good intentions and we were summarily let go. It's the only time I ever saw violence at a game, and its just not the nature of the sport here, but I think it was the mindset of the security officer, who was probably dreaming about whomping some hooligans the night before, that set the tone.

It was an unfortunate incident, one that I can laugh off as a good story, but Bruce is kind of bitter about it. He runs one of the most widely read soccer sites around called, Du Nord. That simple little website has thousands of daily readers. Crazy.

Jeff, I think you'd love it.

They play the Vancouver White Caps on May 6 in St. Paul and Virginia Beach May 26 at the NSC in Blaine...

And they have cheerleaders, which is nice.

Thunder Home Opener Will Again Be Free Of Charge

Great news for all you cheapskates out there. My fave team the Minnesota Thunder will again open the gates for free to their home opener on May 6th and ask that instead of paying for a ticket you give the money to their charity Thunder P.L.U.S. It was a huge success last season and I hope to see you all there at the Jimmy.

Sunday May 6 - 5pm
Minnesota Thunder v Vancouver Whitecaps
James Griffin Stadium
St Paul Minnesota

I have to work that particular date, but perhaps Elko and Jeffry can avail themselves of the beauty of the pitch.
