Packers-Bears to be final primetime game

(Dec. 25, 2006) -- The Week 17 Green Bay Packers at Chicago Bears game on Sunday, Dec. 31, will now be played at 8:15 p.m. ET on NBC, making it the final game of the 2006 regular season.

Who'd of thunk it?

My money is still on the Bears.

The Pack need this one and if the Bears start anyone besides 3rd string players they're insane!

I expect the starters to play most of the first half, they don't want a repeat of last year when they rested the starters against the Queens. They then promptly went out and laid an egg against the Panthers.

Upon further reflection, this may be a game that the Bears will lose just for the hell of it. Since the wild card scenerio is so muddled in the NFC it might be in their best interest to let the Packers win and see what happens.

Then again if the Giants win on Saturday, all this speculation is moot.

• Green Bay can clinch a playoff berth with:
1. A win plus a NY Giants win + GB clinches strength of victory tiebreaker over NYG OR
2. A win plus a NY Giants loss or tie plus a St. Louis loss or tie OR
3. A win plus a NY Giants loss or tie plus a Carolina win OR
4. A win plus a NY Giants loss or tie plus an Atlanta win OR
5. A tie plus a NY Giants loss plus a St. Louis loss plus an Atlanta loss or tie plus a Carolina loss or tie

• Green Bay clinches strength of victory tiebreaker over N.Y. Giants if: Arizona, Detroit, Miami, Minnesota and San Francisco all win and Carolina, Houston and Tampa Bay all lose.
