Clash of the Titans; remake

It's not a rumor that 2008 will see the remake of Clash of the Titans. It's also no rumor that they can't decide whether it will be a "around Christmas time movie" or a summer movie.

Personally I say Christmas time as summer releases tend to get the hokey "blockbuster" actors. But, that's just me.

Also not a rumor is there is a bidding war for the FX of the movie. Weta was the first to sign on, but ILM undercut them as well did Lightstorm. Lightstorm was recently off project because of what James Cameron is working on. So, it's down to the heavy weights once more.

I'd like to see Weta get it, but only if they bring a LOTR or Kong feel to it. I was pretty disatisfied with their work on Narnia, but if that was the look they were going for, then fine. But, it's just not to my liking.

No producer has been mentioned. Some directors have been thrown around, no names annouced, but were quick to say it's not Peter Jackson.

Liam Neeson & Ralph Fiennes Join ‘Clash Of The Titans’

It’s been a while since we’ve heard anything on Greek mythology movie front, but two big-time casting announcements have been made with Liam Neeson and Ralph Fiennes joining the cast of Louis Leterrier’s upcoming take on Clash of the Titans. Fiennes is still in the negotiation stages of the deal.

In the movie, the pair of actors will be taking on the top two gods of Greek mythology — one on the good side, and one on the evil. Liam Neeson will be taking on the role of the God of Thunder, Zeus; while Ralph Fiennes will use his skills as a creepy-ass baddie to embrace the God of the Underworld, Hades. The two larger-than-life beings are also siblings, with Hades on a destructive course toward trying to over-take his brother and rule all of Mt. Olympus.

Also starring in the movie is Sam Worthington (Terminator Salvation, Avatar) as son of Zeus, Perseus; Mads Mikkelsen (Casino Royale, King Arthur) as Draco; Gemma Arterton (Prince of Persia, Quantum of Solace) as Io; and Alexa Davalos (Defiance, The Mist) as Andromeda.

Clash of the Titans is set to begin filming this month with a release March 26, 2010. Leterrier is best known as the director of Transporter 2 and The Incredible Hulk. The script is penned by Lawrence Kasdan, who also wrote Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back, Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi, and Raiders of the Lost Ark, among others.
