This crap gets better and better. It's like doubling down on 20 and hitting an ACE.

Thank God for tiebreakers, that's all I have to say.

Win against Atlanta, wait for the Queens to lose against the Steelers.
Lose at Green Bay, assume that the Queens win at Baltimore.
January 1st: Bears v. Queens @ the Dome......Let's get it on!

Culpepper charged in sex boat scand

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Quarterback Daunte Culpepper and three other Minnesota Vikings were charged Thursday with three misdemeanors each for taking part in a bawdy boat party earlier this season on Lake Minnetonka.

Culpepper, Bryant McKinnie, Fred Smoot and Moe Williams were charged with indecent conduct, disorderly conduct and lewd or lascivious conduct, according to court papers.
If convicted, each player faces up to a maximum of 90 days in jail and a $10,000 fine on each count.

Prosecutor Steve Tallen's decision was based on findings by the Hennepin County sheriff's office, whose investigators reviewed allegations of lewd and drunken behavior aboard a floating party Oct. 6 that involved some Vikings players.

Crew members complained that some people took off their clothes and engaged in public sex acts during the cruise, according to Stephen Doyle, an attorney representing the boat owners, Al & Alma's Supper Club and Charter Cruises in Mound. The crew members identified 17 Vikings among about 90 people on the two boats.

The court papers released Thursday said Smoot and defensive end Lance Johnstone arranged the charter.

Smoot declined comment in the team's locker room before practice. Both Culpepper and Williams are on injured reserve and in rehabilitation on their own, away from the team. McKinnie wasn't seen in the locker room.

Vikings coach Mike Tice was careful with his reaction.

"According to NFL rules and union contracts, there is a large difference between allegations and charges and convictions," Tice said. "So until at any point there is a conviction of some type, if there is, I have no action to take and nothing to say."

After that, Tice threatened to stop talking to reporters if anyone asked more questions about the allegations.

Reports that some women at the party were paid to come from outside Minnesota had raised the possibility of federal charges, but U.S. Attorney Tom Heffelfinger said Thursday that no such charges would be brought. Heffelfinger cited insufficient evidence.

That decision, along with sheriff's decision to send the case to Tallen's office, meant any charges would be minor. Tallen is the prosecuting attorney for the Lake Minnetonka Conservation District, which handles nonfelony crimes committed on the big lake just west of Minneapolis.

The boat scandal hit the Vikings when they were already reeling, off to a 1-3 start, and made them the object of national ridicule on late-night TV and cable sports channels. New owner Zygi Wilf, who had been seeking state help for a new stadium, responded forcefully, apologizing to Gov. Tim Pawlenty and other state officials and instituting a new code of conduct.

The team has since recovered on the field and, with quarterback Brad Johnson replacing the injured Culpepper, reeled off six straight wins to become a playoff contender at 8-5.

Running back Michael Bennett said he didn't think the charges would hurt the team heading into Sunday's game against Pittsburgh.

"Everybody's upbeat," he said. "We have the distraction today, but again we've dealt with it pretty well.

Nice game yesterday by the Queens. I don't feel so bad now.

It's 8:27AM on Monday, 12/19/05 and the Bears are the darlings of the NFL!!!!!

At least for a week......

Hey so do I.

The Bears (my wife's second favorite team) played last night.

I'm not surprised and I'm not impressed. That is how you're supposed to friggin play when you're the Bears and it's December and it's windy and it's cold.

To those who watched the game, was anyone else sick of Joe Theisman mentioning the temperature every 5 friggin minutes. Jesus Joe, WE KNOW!!

Also, this whole BS with warm weather indoor QB's being affected by the weather. It's a crock, either your good or you suck. I don't buy into this weather crap, it's another factor to the home field advantage. The real team showed up last night and kicked ass.

GO BEARS.

However, you realize as a somewhat Bears fan, I have to root for Green Bay on Christmas Day in hopes the Vikings beat the Ravens.

Understandable. I can see a scenerio next week where the Bears cough it up at Lambeau and the Queens beat the Ravens. Therefore, it comes down to New Years Day and a bullshit game in the Dome that one would think the Queens would pull out of their collective asses. If that happens, I'll be sorely depressed....

There wasn't an offense in the league that could have stood up the showing the Bears D put on yesterday.

What about the Colts?

They only put up 17 points against a Chargers D. Maybe they would have gotten a few field goals out of the Bears D yesterday.

Congrats Schneids on the Bears' division championship. They've had a heck of a year and have definately earned it. I'll be cheering for them in playoffs this year as my Pack will be at home watching it on their respective tv's.

Nice. I think all people on this board, be they Queens, Lions, Packers, or Bears fans should rally behind the Bears at this point, because it's all about cheering for your division. (think of it this way....You watch a BCS Bowl game. Who are you more apt to cheer for, the Big 10 team, or the other one?)

Sensibilities. Us here in the Midwest tend to have bigger units then those in the Southwest. (All apologies to Len & his SEC sissymaryies.)

I'm totally pulling for the Bears. :D

But, I also want to see Indy in there as well. Head to head, Indy wins hands down on paper. It all depends on who wants it more. San Diego won only because Indy didn't try that hard sitting 6 defensive starters after the first 1/4.

However, the road to the superbowl in the NFC goes through Seattle which, c'mon if you follow football as deeply as I do are one of the most underrated powerhouse teams ever. The Seahawks can flat out run with anyone in the league and in 100 games between them and Indy, it's 50/50.

The Bears have not faced a RB like Shaun Alexander all season, except for maybe Jerome Bettis and we all know how that turned out.

Shaun is 5x healthier, 2x stronger, and 10x faster. Alexander doesn't look quick, yet is one of the fastest RB's in the league. He can run you over or leave you grabbing for air. The Bears will have to shutdown pass AND run on the Seahawks. Hasselbeck is extremely underrated too.

I'll just take it week by week if it's all the same to you. (lol) That being said, wouldn't it be interesting to see a Bears v. Patriots rematch in the Super Bowl 20 years after the last time they faced each other in the Super Bowl?

Somehow, I don't expect the score to be the as the 46-10 that the '85 Bears were able to put on Tony Eason.

One can hope though!
