Sebastian Carmichael
&___increase the [m e d i c a t i o n]
Ravenclaw Student
CHARACTER DOCUMENTATION
Character Name: Sebastian [Majestic] Roderick [Beloved Ruler] Carmichael [Follower of Michael, Saint Michael’s chosen]
Character Nickname: Seb, Sebby, Bast, Bastian, or Carmichael
Character Age: Fifteen
Character Year: Fifth
House/Alumni: Ravenclaw

Physical Appearance: He has a fairly “normal” frame for his age, as the healer describes it, which is about 5‘10”, and weighing close to 140 pounds. He seems to be finished growing, but looking back on the growth spurts of the men in his family, there seemed to be a similarity in the fact that most of them had a late, unexpected growth spurt, so there is always the possibility. For years he was shorter, and looked like a boy, but that appearance seemed to have worn off with time. He does have some muscles, but not big bulky ones.

Sebastian's eyes are the most interesting thing about him. They are a bright blue and tend to attract a lot of attention mixed with his dark hair. Dark brows are arched over his slightly oriental shaped eyes and give him and almost brooding look. Added to that, his highly arched aristocratic cheekbones don’t look too out of place.

Seb has always been slightly worried about his public appearance, and will do almost anything until he believes that he is attractive. His dark hair is a bit long, mostly because he likes it better that way even though it’s harder to manage. Bastian tends to leave his hair up to it’s own “devices”, giving it the natural, or uncombed look (it is). Even though he can be vain, he hates spending long hours messing with his hair or just his appearance in general. Coincidentally this means that the hours leading up to any ball/dance are extremely horrid for anyone that has the unfortunate pleasure to be within 20 feet of . Simplicity is key; something easy to do, not time consuming, and that makes him “attractive” is what he looks for in his style.

Personality and Traits: The most basic description of Seb's personality is skeptical and this aspect rules much of his life. He tends to take everything at face value only, demanding proof of more incredible ideas and tending to rebuke anything that he doesn't have experience with. This makes him appear standoffish and haughty, though he's friendly in his own way it just takes alot more time and effort to get to know him. Once he's decided to accept you, however, it's likely you'll have made a steadfast friend for life.

Sebastian's sense of humor is slightly perverse or more often than not, very dry and has been mistaken by many as rudeness, even though that's hardly his intention. This has put him in more than one tight spot and has been the . He's also insatiably curious, driven to know the why of everything and this makes him out obnoxious on occasion. This is what caused one of his fellow Ravenclaws to curse him in his fourth year as he wouldn't leave her alone wanting to know what happened after one of her nightly escapades. Seb is a bit like a pit bull, once he's found something to grab onto he doesn't give it up until it's ended in a row or a physical fight.

He can be considered a rather blunt and harsh person to people talk to him. To people he doesn't like he doesn’t show it and they will probably never know exactly how he thinks of them. Sebastian doesn't let anyone get to close and only shows them little bits and pieces, he can be heartless and cold when his friends or family are hurt or affected by something and is not above hexing whoever did it if need be, or at least that's how he acts around most people. If they knew how good an actor this boy is, that almost all of his public persona is just what he hides behind, they would be surprised.

He is extremely loyal and true to his friends and would do anything for them. Around them he is completely different and not the quiet, brooding teen everyone else sees. He is rather charming, caring and generous with what he has and his compliments. If you are in a rut and need help, Seb would probably help you if he thought you really need it.

Seb is a cunning and ambitious person, though his intelligence and his value of learning surpass his other traits. He dislikes people who do slack off and neglect their studies. He feels that is foolish and will get you no where. He likes to use what he knows to outwit his enemies which makes them think he is rather cocky and has a rather high ego.

He does have a rather suave, calm and cool demeanor about him and that seems to draw in the admirers. He has never really been in love or had any steady relationships believing more in casual shagging and one night stands. He is very picky and choosey with his friends so that also plays into it. He is not a womanizer though and would not physically or emotionally hurt a female, though under certain circumstances he may break that rule.

His haughty exterior both draws people to him in interest and keeps them at a safe distance at the same time. Though he has his group of friends he is fiercely loyal to and would do anything for, he only shows his nice and friendly side to them. He loves to joke around and try to amuse his friends in anyway possible as hates being bored.

Background/Family History: There was never much of a love story behind the relationship of Edward Carmichael and Marietta Edgecomb, they just seemed to find each other. The Edgecomb’s approved of Marietta's marriage to Edward because he was training to work in the Ministry and he was quite the hard-working fellow. Eddie and Marietta had met in Hogwarts and were in the same year, though in different houses [Eddie in Hufflepuff and Marietta in Ravenclaw.] They got along alright and started dating in their seventh year. The couple stayed together for about three years after graduation, and on April 18th, 1999, Eddie and Marietta were engaged. The couple married only months later and were soon expecting a child. Sadly, the birth was never finished and four months in, Marietta lost the baby. Two years later, they tried again, and this time a child came of it.

Sebastian Carmichael was born at the lazy hour of two o'clock on the sunny Tuesday afternoon of October 27th. Marietta gave birth to him with her mother and sisters present, while her husband waited in the next room, and she hardly had had time to notify them. Sebastian was due two weeks into November, but he had come early and without warning. Marietta had been working as an intern at Saint Mungo's at the time she had her first contraction. At first she thought something was wrong, but soon her water broke and she was informed they must have gone out of order. Marietta asked a friend to floo the Ministry and get her husband and then to floo her mother's residence and inform them the baby was coming before she was rushed off to a hospital room.

After a few hours of labor, brown-haired, blue-eyed Sebastian Roderick was brought into the world. Marietta's mother named him because Marietta and Eddie had never decided on a name, and she was a rather indecisive individual. Missus Edgecomb soon became a maternal figure in baby Sebastian's life because Marietta went back to Mungo's and Eddie worked even harder at Dept. of Magical Games and Sports so he could provide for his family.

By the time he was two years old, Seb adored his mother when she was around, loved to play with his father when he came home from work, but his grandmother was the one person who took care of him most. He grew attached to her - he would follow her around, copy her actions, hug her legs, and cry when she left a room without him. It was as if an imaginary umbilical cord connected the two, and his grandfather and aunts often worried that he was already too spoiled. By age four, however, Mrs. Edgecomb knew Sebastian was worth the spoiling; he started to pick up magic. For several years Bastian could move things without thinking about it. It was mainly controlled by his extreme emotions, whether it was excitedness, nervousness, anger, or sorrow.

Growing up as a kid, Grams Edgecomb tried to force books and mind-challenging activities upon Seb, but he denied them. On the rare occasion that he could sit down and read a book, it would have to be a story filled with action-packed characters and events. If he wanted to sit down and color or draw pictures, he would draw vivid, massive creatures that lived in his mind, and sometimes magical ones he had read about in books. Though he grew to have a quiet respect for the arts and literature, Sebastian much preferred playing outside and picking up things with his hands, rather than his brain.

Seb learned how to fly a broomstick at a young age, and he immediately fell in love with the game of Quidditch. This was Eddie Carmichael's one good contribution to raising his son and all Seb really thanks him for. The main reason he looked forward to his father coming home from work on the weekends was flying and playing rag-tag Quidditch matches. Eddie took Seb to professional matches whenever they were held on a weekend he was off work and it became a ritual, but after a promotion at the Ministry, Eddie had less and less time to spend with Seb when he visited.

The idea of a magical school that Seb could attend without his mother or grandmother was heaven for the eleven year old boy. These two people were the only people that could seem to control him, and the vision of what he could get away with at this school nearly made Sebastian wet himself. His acceptance letter to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry arrived that summer, he boarded the Hogwarts Express. He was sorted into Ravenclaw, but he could not quite figure out why. He wasn't that smart. He was not conserved and studious. He thought he belonged somewhere else - Gryffindor or Hufflepuff, perhaps. But, no, he was stuck in Ravenclaw with a bunch of geeks. Seb's first year was mainly wasted on tormenting teachers and his peers. He made no friends whatsoever, and if his grandmother's howler wouldn't have kicked him into gear, he would have flunked nearly all of his classes.

Quidditch matches were something Sebastian enjoyed, however, and he looked forward to year two of Hogwarts, despite his previous experience. This time around he excelled at the more hands-on classes such as Charms, Defense Against the Dark Arts, and Transfiguration. Potions would have been a success for him also, but he much preferred to antagonize the Professor. Eddie made one friend that year - a third year Hufflepuff girl - but lost her when he did not owl her that following summer. Who owls friends during the summer? He was busy.

Third year was a bit confusing for Sebastian. There was more freedom in classes and Hogsmeade trips. He started to notice girls more than he had before, but Sebastian Carmichael was not about to admit the many infatuations he had with various girls. Girls crushed on him, not the other way around. His grades stayed pretty much the same and he even managed to make a few friends that he kept the following year.

Sebastian went back to Hogwarts for his fourth year, and it was filled with loads of action. He joined the Quidditch team as Beater, and he planned to keep his position for years to come. When the Captain did not call a practice, Sebastian was normally found practicing on the pitch by himself. It the pitch was occupied, he was off in a secluded area practicing flying and hitting Bludgers. On his free time away from studies (his mother bribed him with a large sum of money if he earned satisfactory marks that year in every subject), he either pulled pranks or flirted with a girl or two. Of course, the latter was always much more fun, though the former did have its advantages.

His fifth year at Hogwarts has just started, and he hopes that nothing too interesting happens, well, unless of course he’s the one that causes it.

Father: His father, Edward [Eddie] Carmichael, came from a working-class family of scattered Purebloods, Half-bloods, and Muggleborns. He attended Hogwarts by chance, and he was sorted into Hufflepuff, a house he did well in. He was a hard-worker, having come from a family that often struggled to earn what they had, and took up a position on the Quidditch team, which he loved. Eddie got a job at the Ministry in the Department of Magical Games and is still quite content with his position.
Mother: Marietta Edgecomb was from a lesser-known, yet respectable Pureblooded family. The Edgecomb’s were known for their tight association with the Ministry of Magic - they often donated sums of money to foundations within the Ministry and Saint Mungo's, which kept them in touch with the Ministry's officials. Marietta's own mother had worked for the Ministry in the Department of Magical Transportation. Sebastian loves his mother early because she was the parent that raised him [his father being more of a friend to him, than an actual parental figure.]. He sees her as a beautiful, respectable woman, and he's glad that he's the only child in her life, that way he gets all her attention.
Siblings: An only child, thank Merlin and Morganna.

Pet: Eddie only had one owl when he started school, a brown hawk which he named Fabrizio (Fabby for short), but then he figured it would get lonely, so he bought another - a female named Lorraina. Eddie likes to think the two are the best of friends.
Broom: A Nimbus X Series. He got it for his 14th birthday.
Wand: Rosewood 11¼” Core of a Threstral Fang.
Boggart: Being a Squib. He wouldn’t know how to survive without magic and his family would probably disown him for not having magic, leaving him all alone in the Muggle World.

<span style='font-size:8pt;line-height:100%'>Antonin was one of the few students here that enjoyed learning. He loved every subject he took and made sure he gave as much effort as he could. Oddly, he hated homework. The teen hated it with a fiery passion that most wouldn’t understand. Sure, he loved writing and showing off his knowledge, it was the actual work that was involved that he didn’t like that much.

They had been assigned a twelve foot essay on the History of the Unforgivables in Defense Against The Dark Arts. Now, it wouldn’t have normally been that hard for Antonin, but Professor Bowen had specifically given them book titles that they needed the information, quotes, ect. And said their average would go down three grades if they didn’t use them. The man had been amused when Antonin huffed out of the class room and his classmates were surprised as they didn’t know anything could ruffle Antonin Dolohov’s feathers.

Deciding to get this torture over with, he had headed to the library at his next free period. Pushing the doors open, he spotted a few familiar faces that waved to him, but he couldn’t put any names to them so he just waved back. Dropping his bag at the nearest table, he got out two pieces of parchment with a quill. The first parchment was relatively new and had book titles hurriedly scratched upon it. The second had Professor Bowen’s tidy scrawl on it saying something along the lines of “I, Eric Bowen, give this student permission to be in the restricted section and take books out of it.” Sticking the quill behind his ear, he went of to the restricted section with the pass in his pocket and his eyes on the list.

Walking through the metal enforced door, he started in the first section. His fingers grazed the spines of the old books, looking for a name that might be on the list. He finally found one and slowly flipped through the tightly bound book. It was as though no one else had ever even opened this book before. The boy tried his best to look for something throughout the book, but found nothing and returned it back to its resting place. Taking the quill out from behind his ear, he scratched the book off the list, before stuffing the parchment back into his pocket and the black quill back behind his ear.

Heading to the next isle, he concentrated on the many book titles again. The pain in his neck caused by craning it to look at titles was gradually grating on his nerves. Finally he snapped his head up and cracked it along with his shoulders. ‘Hmm, much better,’ Antonin though absentmindedly as he returned to looking at the titles. He turned to the other side of the isle after finding nothing and slowly began his search again. As he looked at the bottom row, he saw a title that looked like one from the list. Bending down he sighed. Nope, of course it wasn’t the book. Moving to stand up he only made it half way. “Mother fucking son of a bitch!” he exclaimed under his breath. Standing all the way up, he rubbed the back of his head. Shooting daggers at the bookshelf he had hit his head on, he walked to a nearby source of light. His saw the silhouette of another person. When he locked eyes with the person, he smirked. Oh, this would be fun.[/SMALL]
