CHARACTER DOCUMENTATION
Character Name: Jacob Cormac McLaggen
Character Nickname: --
Character Age: 16
Character Year: 6th
House/Alumni: Ravenclaw

Physical Appearance:
When you first take a look at Jacob, you have to notice just the way he stands. His hands are always in his pockets, yet with back straight and his black hair standing up, he sends off a mysterious look. He doesn't pull of the flirty boy look nor is he the type of look that sends children running from fright. A gentle, but firm look that you would usually find at the end of a dead end.

Even when his clothing changes, one thing remains the same. The sliver chain around his neck. It has a broken heart that's laying on top of a book. You might say tht its a bit harsh for a simple guy like Jacob, but it represents something value and meaning. He's all about meaning.

When you see him walking down the street, you'll notice that he stands only about 5'8" [five feet eight inches] and is rather on the short and puny side. There is barely any buffness nor muscles that he can threaten anybody with. However, he does always carry his wand around, near his front breast pocket, ready to use and attack.

As for clothing, he doesn't go too over the top. In fact, he dislikes large clothing and graffetti like print on anything but the walls. Jacob isn't the type to just go out and show off his skin. During the school years he could be found just wearing his simple Hogwarts robe over a pair of dark jeans, and maybe a polo shirt. The brightest thing that you'll see him wear is white; nothing more and nothing less.

Personality and Traits:
There's nothing more to say about Jacob [even though I have yet to begin] He is just pure Ravenclaw. He can be called the 'emotionless wonder' because he never really smiles unless with the people he's particualrly close with. In his opinion, people smile for no reason and there is no such thing as no reason. There is always logic behind it all, reasons for doing one particular thing after another. The people around him say that living is a reason to smile. But do you live to smile? No; you live to absorb what life has to offer and you have to act in order to do that.

On the total opposite, he doesn't get upset about many things either. Much more like tears dropping down onto the floor. You wouldn't exactly find him in the corner weeping out his eyes because of a papercut or failing grade. He knows that not everyone is perfect. No one is, actually. People just do more right things than wrong, that's all. So when he fails, he gets bitter. Very bitter. Bitterness and anger are two different things. There is bitterness where Jacob snaps and gets aggitated over things. Anger is a whole other story. That is where physical and verbal abuse begins.

One thing that you have to keep in mind when describing Jacob, is that he will not and really 'can not' fight. He is weak when it comes to combat, but at the mind, he is strong. Particuarly strong at both dueling and charms. So he is bitter; but not angry.

When meeting Jacob, almost everyone says that he's very confusing. One minute he can be as silent as a rabbit, not talking much or really giving his opinion, while the next, he can start suddently talking and saying/mentioning things that no one else would even think about. Why is it that boys are like that? Girls wonder what goes on in a male's brain, and truth be told, nothing really. Just day to day experiences of what to eat and when the next girl is going to stop by.

However, in a Ravenclaw's brain, you have to also wonder when the next assignment is going to be due, how long it shall or is required to be, and when trhe next test is going to be assigned. Other things include social talking, behavior, and reasoning behind what goes on in other people's brain. Even though it may not seem so, Jacob always wants to know what other people are thinking. You can say that it his weakness to always want to know more.

Last but certainly not least, is the whole process of what he thinks about the topic of 'love'. He does not believe at love at first sight, nor does he believe that you 'have' to love someone. You don't fall in love with a girl just because she is pretty and you do not love your mother because she is your mother. In order to 'love' someone, you have to be willing to do anything for them, just because they bring joy to your life. Jacob has yet to experience that kind of love.

Background/Family History:
On September 12, 2012, Jacob Cormac McLaggen had appeared onto the earth. He was the third of five children from Cormac and Romilda McLaggen. As a baby, he was a quiet boy, parents thinking that he was an odd child and took him to Saint Mugos for Magic and Miladies[sp?] thinking that there was something wrong with a baby that never cried.

Yes, it goes true that Jacob spent the rest of his childhood barely crying and when he did, the reason was unknown. His sister was already four years old and as soon as she hit the age of 11, Jacob was left alone at regular Muggle schooling. As a boy, he was usually teased because they called him 'mama's boy'. Romilda Vane had always picked him up, feed him, and spoiled him. Jacob slowly grew a sense of insecurity whenever she wasn't around and so his personality turned to stone.

His older sister, Maggie was always much too busy to be able to actually see that Jacob wanted something different. He was always smarter than the rest of the batch of muggle children. He knew inside while everyone teased him that he was different. And this wish of growing apart from his parents and old life was granted when he was sent to Hogwarts School for Witchcraft and Wizardry.

His true calling was discovered after the sorting hat had sorted him into Ravenclaw, where he met many other students that had similar personalities as he did. Those who craved knowledge, others who were shy and unsure about themselves, but none of them seems quite fond of Jacobs. As soon as class started, he devoted himself to being the best of the best, achieving good grades and greater OWLS.

After the second year of Hogwarts, when the two other McLaggen children were born, Jacob felt that he had more responsibility than before. He actually learned to care. His mother was just a mere figure of thanks for bringing him into this world. It was his siblings that kindled the stone heart to beat once more.

The sun rose as an average day for Emmeline Courtney Vance begun. The sun seemed to shine at a different angle, making the clouds come up and having the weather be partly cloudy with a slight chance of rain. Little Emmeline had woken up in the eggshell sheets of her large Vance mansion to a tray full of bathroom materials and a laid out pair of clothing on the side chair, waiting to be dressed. A little bell was on the side drawer as always, indicating that if she needed anything, to just ring and servants shall be there waiting.

Emmeline yawned a bit and did what she was told, taking a quick rinse through the shower and washing her face with a damp cloth. She jumped out of the bed and went down the long step of stairs, her shoes clicking on the wooden steps. She went slowly, as to not disturb Grams. It would just cause lots of trouble. She breathed a bit and smiled to herself. "Breakfast," It was a simple word, saying it with a sly smile. What would be for breakfast? Toast and butter? Eggs with a side of ham? A bit of omlette with sprigs of brocolli on the side? It was what mom was always cooking up.

She sat down on the soft cushion of the long narrow dining table and waited. A little house elf with bony arms came in, holding a large tray filled with fruity assorts of things to choose from. Emmeline gave a small nod. With a small voice she opened her mouth. "Thank you," The elf just scurryed away, back to its place in the kitchen. She always wondered about what it was to be in the kitchen. How long has it been since she saw Mum? A couple of days, minimum. She finished her plate and piled them up on the table for easy managing and went up stairs, changing into some pants instead of a long flowing skirt. Her eye glinted and hinted that there was some exploring to be done. At the age of seven, Emmeline still didn't know what was in store for the mansion. The maids were always crowding her space.

Facing her teddy bear she held it up in the air. "Wish me luck Teddy," she said simply and put it on the front headboard of the bed and walked off.
A couple minutes later she stood at the doorway of the kitchen entrance and looked up. Her large grey eyes scanned the door for a second and push it open with her half-hearted strength. Steam came out, making her cough slightly.

There was reckage and pots and simmer of boiling water flowing over and under the oven. Over in the distance she could clearly hear the orders of her mother towards the house elves.
"Place the celery in now!" she heard her cry. Oh yes, she now remembered what her mother was planning. The annual luncheon with Dad's customers. They were going to be here any minute.
Emmeline didn't get it. Huh? No! She was never confused. What was ... where was the result of such brillant dishes out of this mess?
She walked closer in and all of a sudden -- A crash was heard.

"What is going on!?" the older woman cried. Emmeline looked up. Huh? Mum looked down on her and frowned. "Emmeline, do you know what you did? Do you see the plate that just crashed? Why are you here?" As Emmeline heard this, she knew that she was not wanted here. But she needed to ask... "Well?" her mother said again.

"How can you work like this?" she asked simply. Her mother's jaw dropped slightly. Surely she's never heard such a question like that come out from a person of seven. No one. As a result, she was kciked out. By the elves themselves. The kick wasn't very hard, and it could have been executed better, but she was on the marble floor of the dining room once again.

Not complaining, Emmeline dusted herself and stood up. She sighed, knowing that her mother had more important things to do than baby sit her child. There were servants for that. Emmeline looked up at the stairs and slowly decended up.
