It was a common stereotype of the Slytherin house that they were all nocturnal snakes who loved the dungeons. An easily made mistake. After all, their common room was in a convienient locale for the rumors, serving as bait for the various vampire horror stories floating around the school on any given day. Slytherins did tend to hang out about here, but merely to satisfy their hunger for solitude--not to feel at home among the reeking dampness and impermeable blackness. The house of green felt at home here; because over the years, they had been taught that it was where they were supposed to feel the most comfortable. One could swear their life on the fact that there was not a single member of the noble house of snakes that arrived at Hogwarts with a taste for rattling chains, narrow corridors and dreary pale ghosts wailing of past lives. But no matter how fundamentally wrong the stereotype was, Ceani was cast into it along with all the others, and she found herself huddling in a dungeon, alone. She'd been with a couple of friends, earlier along in the day. As she always was, chatting and learning all the new rumors and spreading nasty lies about the people she happened to dislike at the moment. But during a turn, Ceani's incessant tendancy to get completely disoriented at crucial moments kicked in just when she was hurrying around the corner to catch up with them after pausing to lace her shoe. She'd wandered around for a bit, not really lost at all, but sort of meandering the halls without a real destination. It was really rather chilly. She grew grateful she'd managed to decide to wear the maroon designer jacket; she hadn't been sure that morning whether it would clash with her skirt-and-stockings combonation. Mildew and mold emanated from the walls as distant water pipes leaked mournfully into the damp darkness. The walls were much more enclosed than the walls in the rest of the Hogwarts castle; with every step Ocean ventured forth, the bricks seemed to menace and loom closer and closer. Claustrophobia was beginning to become a problem. But she'd found an open door and decided to take shelter, lighting the end of her slender wand with a quick spell in a lilting voice, and slipped in, taking refuge in the comfort of one of the desks. Sitting in the Potions room may not have been the best memory she had of her past five years of Hogwarts, but it was familiar and it gave her a sense of being. She had no idea how long she'd been numbly sitting there, not really feeling anything at all (besides the slight pang of fear she'd experienced when she realized there was a spider at work two desks over). Obviously, it'd been a while, because the person who finally entered the room was already dressed in bedclothes, for reasons unknown. And all the while, as she turned her gaze to the figure in the doorway, she was fixated on one thought. She'd just proved the stereotype just a little bit more true. |

Edric chuckled as he closed the door behind him as quietly as he could and pulled his robe tighter around his body, feeling a bit of a chill as he entered the room which only moments before he didn't know existed. The blonde Slytherin boy had just had the time of his life; he was toying with a couple of First Year’s gullible minds using a few “parlor” tricks he had picked up over the past six years at Hogwarts. Man he loved the look on one of the girl’s faces when a werewolf like apparition crept out of the shadows towards her. And her scream was worth the effort put into the apparition. When her friends turned around however they didn’t see what had frightened her so badly and as she tugged on them and shouted tell them what she had seen they turned and looked down the hall with raised eyebrows. As she was explaining what she say in a panicked tone the apparition disappeared, from her sight anyways and her little runny nosed friend could now see it. That went on for a few minutes before all four of them were so confused and scared that they all went running as far and as fast away from the dungeon’s as they could. He didn’t even notice Ocean’s presence at first; he was having too much enjoyment laughing and recalling the looks on their faces. He leaned on a desk and then noticed that he wasn’t alone in the unused classroom. He cocked a confused eyebrow at Ocean and folded his arms aross his broad chest. “What brings you to this old dusty, dingy, dreary classroom Miss Tawnyhill?” He asked as he got comfortable on the desks top. |

Ocean had been midway through a deliciously vivid fantasy invovling herself, the cute Ravenclaw who sat in front of her in Charms, and a lot of various tasty sweets when her reverie was interuptted by some rather obnoxious laughter from the doorway. Irritated, she pulled her knees up to her chest and swung sideways on the desk, craning her elegant neck to catch sight of the figure who was so rudely intruding on her daydreams. Edric was advancing, his face twisted into a triuphant smirk as he apparently recalled his latest prank on innocent first years. Now, Ocean didn't like the little pests either, but at least she didn't go around hexing them as if they were meant to be eradicated. They weren't worth paying attention to, but it was clear that boys like Edric hadn't quite figured that out yet. She sighed inwardly. As a first year, she had been pretty, and so hadn't been the butt of too many nasty practical jokes. However, she did have a couple of friends who were, and so she'd seen the terrible things older boys could do. Although you had to admit, it was kind of amusing to watch. “What brings you to this old dusty, dingy, dreary classroom Miss Tawnyhill?” She stared at him, searching for an answer. She honestly didn't know. "Trying for some privacy," she smirked snidely. "Frankly, other people bore me. I guess I was just shooting the breeze, though, because some annoying soul is going to find me wherever I go. It's a curse! Oh, damn the paparazzi!" |

"Trying for some privacy," she smirked snidely. "Frankly, other people bore me. I guess I was just shooting the breeze, though, because some annoying soul is going to find me wherever I go. It's a curse! Oh, damn the paparazzi!" “Do I sense some hostility from you Ocean my dear?” Edric might have only been at Hogwarts for a short time but he enjoyed it there and had met quite a few people and had a certain knack for remembering names and putting them with faces easily. And well Ocean happened to be quite the pretty girl so she was even easier to remember. “I’m sure you wouldn’t be so bitter if you had of seen the prank I just played.” He chuckled again picturing the looks on their faces, oh torturing the newbies was so much fun. |
