Brooke breathed in the fresh, November air. She exhaled slowly and stood where she was for a minute. Brooke hadn't been out here in quite a long time. Lately she had been to Hogsmeade and the castle. She had no time for the outdoors. As a matter of fact, for the last two days, Brooke forced herself to stay in the library and catch up on her homework. Brooke isn't a very studious student at all. She hates working, and studying to her is just a waste of time. She'd rather be hanging out with her friends, partying or something like that. Brooke didn't need to study anyway. She was going to grow up to be a model. Besides, she was already very wealthy, and her parents were going to (for her eighteenth birthday) give her a very big gift. They wanted to keep that a secret, but Brooke had found out about it anyway. Knowing that, Brooke didn't even try to keep up her grades in school. However, two days ago Brooke had received a letter from her parents warning her that if her grades slip she's not going to get anything for her birthday. Now, how they found out that Brooke knew about that was a mystery to Brooke, but Brooke became intimidated by this and immediately kicked her act into gear. Anything for money, right? Brooke was unsure of how they knew about her grades, too. Brooke just assumed that her parents knew she wasn't the sharpest crayon in the box, and they probably didn't want Brooke to earn her money for doing nothing. That's why Brooke had been spending the last two days in the library. She still needed some help, and she knew all of her homework wasn't correct, but knowing that she did it satisfied her. Brooke looked around at the beautiful landscape before her. It was absolutely gorgeous out today. It was still chilly, and when the wind came by it would bite at Brooke's skin making the temperature seem colder and colder, but when there was no breeze it was perfect. Brooke was in her school uniform and she had the black and yellow Hufflepuff scarf wrapped around her neck. Her hair was down in soft curls that made her hair look fluffy and angelic. She looked around. There were quite a few people out today. That was lucky for Brooke, because she loved it when places were crowded. When they were empty, it made her feel like something was wrong with the place. For example, if a resturaunt was empty, Brooke would not want to dine there. First of all, she'd have nobody to flaunt her looks to, and most of all it made her wonder about the food that they served. If the food was good, people should be flowing out of the resturaunt, if not, well then it would be best to stay away from there. However, today outside on the grounds was perfect because there was just the right about of people to give this a four star rating in Brooke's eyes. She scanned the area looking for a place to sit. Then she spotted some people lying down on the grass with books in their hands. It didn't look like a bad idea. Brooke wanted to lie down somewhere anyway. It was better then sitting on a bench with nothing behind you to lean against. Besides, she could sit anyway she'd like on the grass, and she'd still look good anyway. Brooke brushed back a piece of hair and made her way to the middle of the courtyard. The wind that bustled by, pulled her hair out of her face and made her eyes water. She had to hold her robes together and shut her eyes from the biting wind. Damn that wind. Brooke grumbled for a bit about the wind. It was so distressing knowing that out of all the things to ruin the day it was the wind that won first prize. Unbelievable. Brooke had stepped over a few sleeping kids, and had to dodge some people throwing books back and forth, but she finally made it to the middle of the courtyard. When she stood here, she felt like the center of attention. It was just the thing that made her feel special. Brooke loved being the center of attention, and anything or anybody that made her feel that way was grately appreciated and loved by Brooke. Brooke was Brooke and there was nothing or nobody that was going to change that. Brooke looked down at the spot she had chosen. It looked clean and unused, like it had allowed nobody except for Brooke to lie down on it. Almost like it had been waiting for her. Kind of creepy, but Brooke wasn't really thinking about that. She would never think of anything like that. It wasn't her. Brooke quickly sat down and as soon as her body met the grass, a cold chill ran up her spine. The grass was so cold from the wind that it's temperature was piercing through Brooke's clothing. She shuddered, but remained where she was. Brooke looked up at the sky, for now that was the only thing she could look at without straining herself, and felt relaxed. More then she had in a long time. |
