CHARACTER DOCUMENTATION Character Name: Rosalyn Thomas Character Nickname: Roz Character Age: 16 Character Year: 6th House/Alumni: Ravenclaw Physical Appearance: Rosalyn is a mixture of both her parents. Her complexion is a coffee color, one of the many indicators of her mixed African American and Northern Indian heritage. From her mother she got her love for fashion. Admittedly, her appearance is something she spends a little too much time focusing on. She absolutely adores clothes, and indulges shamelessly in frippery and finery. However, she’s still a strikingly pretty girl even without all the effort she puts into her looks. She has an angular yet majestic face consisting of high cheekbones, a long nose rounded to a point, and boldly sculpted features. From her father she gets her stature. Rosalyn grew into her body quickly. She’s taller than most girls with a muscular yet wiry frame that somehow lacks an adolescent appearance. She has an athlete’s build, but sports are something she never liked nor excelled in. The one part of her appearance that Rosalyn can't seem to control is her hair. It's an entity of its own. Her hair is dark, thick, and interchangeably bushy, curly, frizzy, or moderately straight depending on its mood. She's given up on Sleakeazy's Hair Potion. Personality and Traits: Going by first impressions alone, Rosalyn appears to be senseless, hotheaded, and cute. However, she has a fiery curiosity that propels her into many unexpected intellectual endeavors, which is probably what landed her in the Ravenclaw House. She's constantly seeking to broaden her knowledge, and often dominates conversations with her questioning. Her obsessions and fascinations are whimsical and intense. Confident and committed to her causes, Rosalyn is stubborn and willful. She's tends to be extremely critical of everything not done directly by her. She tries to be friendly to everyone, but that effort is often hindered by her inadvertent arrogant nature. Sometimes she's bubbly and cute, other times she's really not a very pleasant person to be around. Highly temperamental--a trait that doesn't seem to want to leave her. Rosalyn is prone to dangerous levels of moodiness when events don't go her way. She gets extremely haughty and even mean-spirited if she's ever wrong. She's a perfectionist and needs to be in control of every aspect of her life--friends, reputation, grades, and love interests. She can be coarse in her interactions with other people. She's attracted to drama, and she's certainly been the catalyst to a few social upheavals. She likes to make her infatuations and dislikes very public. Nonetheless, her overt self-confidence and aggression are strangely charismatic and she's never had a shortage of friends. She's a good talker, and likes being the leader almost to the point of being bossy. Nobody is going to dispute her popularity and most people will admit that they like being around her; however, there's always been a hint of dislike and irritation directed toward her behind her back. Rosalyn reflects many aspects of the token teenager. Angst-ridden, ditzy, egocentric, and abrasive--dashed with moments of brilliance here and there. Background/Family History: Parvati Patil Thomas knew she was destined to have daughters. That's why when she popped out two baby girls on December 13th sixteen years ago in Saint Mungos, she knew it was merely an act of Fate. Rosalyn is pleased to say that she's the oldest twin by exactly one minute and thirty-four seconds. With two other sisters, she's lived in a predominantly female household. Parvati and Dean have spoiled all three of their children immensely, and Rosalyn has always led a comfortable lifestyle. From her mother she learned poise, style, how to walk around boys, and how to give her voice a bubbly lilt when she wanted something done her way. From her father she learned not to be too much like her mother. However, Rosalyn's intellectual ambition is something that caught both her parents by surprise. Though both of them had fine attributes back in Hogwarts, studying wasn't one of them. Both of them assumed that their eldest daughter (by one minute and thirty-four seconds!) would be sorted into Gryffindor. Rosalyn, who expected to be a Gryffindor as well, was peeved when she first got sorted into Ravenclaw. She complained haughtily to her mother in a letter that she was in a House full of geeks who didn't know about the importance of using a hairbrush. However, she soon found that she enjoyed the company of Ravenclaws and has found her six years at Hogwarts quite suitable. Father: Dean Thomas Mother: Parvati Patil Siblings: [F] Kristeen Thomas : 6th Year, Hufflepuff [F] ___ Thomas : 5th Year, Unknown Pet: A thin white cat named Skindleshanks Broom: N/a Wand: 10 2/3 inches, rosewood, centaur hair, inflexible Boggart: Her mother and sisters dying Member Title: 99 red b a l l o o n s Role-Playing Sample: At the end of her third year, in a statement of liberation and rebellion, Linh took all of her used books from the year, put them in a giant heap on her dormitory floor, and with one satisfied “Incendio!” set fire to the entire pile. Later, in the beginning of her fourth year, she realized the immense stupidity of this act when she was bombarded with a million review quizzes; nonetheless, the image and the feeling of watching the books burn stuck with her. The relief and freedom of watching all those pages of struggle and work curl in the flames and crumple away was overwhelming. She decided that if she could metaphorically take one of her pet peeves, place it in a pile, and burn it away just as she had done to those books, the pet peeve she would choose would be all those times anyone ever called her Tien. That’s why in the midst of her frenzied search, when she heard the beginnings of her twin’s name being called out, Linh’s entire body froze and she felt every bone in her body as she spun around to see who it was. Her dark eyes rested on the perpetrator: Lily Evans. Well, that was a relief at least it wasn’t anyone she detested with every fiber of her being or anything—oh wait, never mind. “Whatever. Don’t worry about it.” She responded airily, her tone dropping a few hundred degrees. It was actually laughable that anyone would mistake her for her sister. Linh had style, poise, knowledge about the importance of using a hairbrush… Tien didn’t quite apply herself in those areas. The Ravenclaw was about to say more but through her peripheral vision she caught sight of a tiny red book lying unpretentiously on top of one of the piles further into the library. Her face lit up in recognition and brushed past Lily to get to it. She picked up the book and gave a sigh of relief when she noticed the familiar golden writing. Clutching her prize, she looked triumphant when she averted her attention back to Lily. “I was looking for something.” She commented, her voice resuming its bubbly lilt. She eyed the other girl, doing a poor job hiding her scrutiny. What exactly did James see in her again? She was pedantic, blah, flavorless—like the bland white rice Linh’s mother made. With a dignified toss of her head, Linh flicked her braids over her shoulder again. It was something she did when she was restless. After some consideration, she gingerly tossed the diary over to Lily. “Take a look if you want.” The entire piece, one would soon realize after opening the diary, was indecipherable. It was charmed to appear to be written in Mermish unless tapped with a wand and enticed with the correct word, which only Linh knew. Otherwise the yellowing pages bore a multitude of carefully depicted runes, curving lines connected at odd angles, denoted by strange dots and notations. Linh’s frenzy to find it might not have been necessary, but knowing that she physically possessed the diary comforted her. Her thoughts were safe. PERSONAL Name: Lynn Your Age: 17 Other Characters: N/a Contact Information: PM How Did You Find Us?: Masquerade Role-Playing Experience: 6 years Miscellaneous/Other: Accpeted! -Gasp!- Isn't that some 80's song [99 Red Balloons] by Nena? |
