Rain pelted onto the stone pathway, as Bella pounded across it as fast as her stylish flats would carry her. Early that afternoon, when had foolishly decided on a stroll around the Black Lake, she hadn't taken in account the threats of a storm that had been written in the dark gray clouds above her. Of course, she regretted that now, with her school robes drenched in rain water, and her shoes caked in the mud that had begun to form around the lake.

She trotted up the front steps of the castle, small sounds of distaste erupting from her lips. Normally, she didn't mind the rain, but when you combined it with the over bearing heat they had been suffering from lately, it certainly didn't make for pleasant surroundings. The humidity did nothing for her hair, and styling it after this fiasco would be murder.

"Dammit!" she muttered angrily, swinging the heavy doors of the castle open abruptly. Sighing, she dunked inside in an attempt to further damage her outfit. After slamming the doors closed however, it was quite clear that any hopes of that were made in vein.

Dripping wet, Bella trudged further into the Entrance Hall, passing a group of snickering first years as she did so. She would have removed her wand from her pocket had she thought it would have done her any good. The fact was, she had never been much good at the drying charm, or the one made specifically for cleaning. The dirt that was packed onto her robes and shoes would not be easily removed, and she wasn't confident enough in her ability to perform the charm to allow the few people wandering the halls to witness her poor spellsmenship.

With a shiver, she lowered her gaze to the floor. She wanted nothing more than to escape to her dorm room, with a warm cup of coffee.

Gabriel knew better than to wander the grounds while it was raining. And it wasn't very difficult to tell when it was going to rain either. All one had to do was look to the sky and the rest would be evident. Obviously. As a result of his clear intelligence he was as dry as a bone and quite content with his robes to be in such a way.

He'd left the common room in the tower with a book in hand. On his way down the steps thunder had pounded in his ears, rattled the panes of glass around him with a streak of lightening that caused him to look up from the pages of his text. The chaos of rain was quite amusing to watch though... He couldn't help but smile. Especially so when he found himself down near the Entrance Hall and approaching a figure who appeared to be dripping wet and none too bright.

He smirked, and nearly said something aloud. He didn't often talk to people he didn't know. Not exactly strangers but... those of lesser intelligence than himself. Wasn't arrogance a Slytherin trait? Perhaps some of it had trickled into the Ravenclaw's mind as well.

Instead he laughed quietly and clearly at her, and it was a female he realized as their steps grew closer together. The expression on his face was quite mocking as if he shared with himself a silent joke on her behalf. He proded his chin with his wand absently and watched the water drip from the hem of her robes.

Bella wasn't sure why she allowed people's opinions to weigh so heavily on her pride, but it did as she trudged shamefully down the hallway. Feeling the stares of the others on her made her feel entirely too self conscious, apposed to her normally self assured composure. It wasn't like her to feel ashamed of something, although her being completely drenched in rain was much less degrading than most other possibilities.

Just as the hall began to empty out and Bella was feeling as though she might make it into the dungeons without anyone else giving her odd stares, she heard another set of foot falls coming from the opposite direction. Cursing under her breath, she quickened her pace. Perhaps if she didn't bother to give the intruder any attention, they would have enough decency to leave her alone. Unlikely, but she would give it a shot. Besides, she was not in the mood for dealing with ignorant people. Not tonight.

Looking up from the floor, Bella searched the hall for her company. A man. Ravenclaw from the looks of his robes. She did not need this right now. His gaze met hers for a short period of time, and she caught a glimpse of his mildly amused expression.

"What the hell are you looking at?" she growled, brushing a few dripping wet strands of hair from her eyes.

Gabe smirked at her with a little chuckle slipping past his lips again as she addressed him. Well at least he could be certain that she wouldn't stand to have people walking on her whether they said anything out loud to her face or not. He prodded his wand beneath his chin again and closed the book in his right hand softly.

What was he looking at?

"Idiocy," Gabe murmured in a quiet albiet silky voice. It didn't seem that he was completely engaging her in his answer, almost like he was still musing to himself the inside joke he shared at her expense.

His feet came to a halt and he held still, moving very little but for his eyes that continued to look her up and down, from her soaking wet hair to the dripping hem of her robes. Eyes like his were used to draw in the finest details in everything and everyone.

"Idiocy,"

Bella stopped short. She had hoped desperately that this evening wouldn't come to violent ends, because she hadn't had the energy for any sort of confrontation. Though she was very aware of the flare of anger that ignited within her center at the other student's words, she knew she was quite able to unleash a portion of her wrath on this unsuspecting Raven. If only she could find the energy.

"If you aren't going to put that wand of yours to good use, I suggest you keep walking," she muttered, shivering again at the drafty bursts of air that were reaching her dampened skin. With her luck, she'd have pneumonia by morning.

Staring at the man across from her, she decided that he couldn't be much older than herself, if that. He was well groomed, certainly good looking, there was really no denying it, no matter how much she desired to gauge his eyes out with her own fingernails. No amount of good looks -and admittedly mysteriously charming aura- could deflect the foul attitude Bella had already formed against this man.

[[Excuse the crappiness, I just woke up. :P ]]

Gabe shrugged. It was an off-handed sort of gesture that he only used half-heartedly in reply. His right hand that held his book lowered to his side and began to slip the text away into the pocket of his robe. The leather-bound cover, cracked and undoubtably aged, was hardly bigger than his hand though and was easily dismissed from sight.

"If your wand was of any use it would have been out already - and you most likely would have been much, much drier... And perhaps in a far better mood that dictates a Slytherin, which presumably would make you all the more nastier," he muttered. Again it was like he was only thinking out loud to himself.

He smiled mockingly and finally lowered his own wand. He played with it in his left hand, twirlling it once for his own amusement and chuckling to himself once more. He constantly appeared sidetracked.

[xD That's fine.]

Isabella's lips opened and closed once, as she tried to prevent herself from spitting out something truly nasty in response. Unlike many other Slytherins, Bella tended to censor what she allowed herself to say to others. Not necessarily because she cared for someone else's feelings, but more because she liked to keep her bridges in tact. Though she hated to make use of these said 'bridges', it never hurt to have them at her disposal.

"I'm fine, it's just a bit of water is all. I don't find it necessary to pull out my wand for every little obstacle I come across," she told him. Truthfully, she loved having a wand that was capable -in the right hands- to fix just about any dilemma you could think of, but her horrible track record with her magical abilities made it a hazardous affair.

"Besides, I am Slytherin after all... and presumably nastier by nature," she added sarcastically, keeping her truly disgusting comments to herself. Who did this man think he was anyway? He didn't know Bella at all, and had absolutely on idea of when she went through on a daily basis, or the struggles she faced in the simple tasks that came to other's so naturally.

He had no idea.

"A shame, tragedy, whatever you'd be inclined to call it," Gabriel said with a shake of his head and a non-chalant sigh. He didn't exactly continue to elaborate on what he actually thought was a shame or a tragedy, probably didn't want to, and more than likely thought she wasn't worth the waste of his intelligence.

He twirlled his wand in his fingers a second time and decidedly slipped it out for sight. He knew she wouldn't ask for his spell. She had a capable wand presumably and she knew the spell somewhere in her thick head and if she hadn't put two and two together at this point - or couldn't - then he'd leave it as her call.

Gabe started walking again, quietly, robes swishing while he wound himself around Bella. He wasn't quite so rude as to push her aside, then again, he wasn't quite as pleasant as to throw down his outfit and beg that she walk across it. Her shoes were wet besides.

"Presumably nastier than nothing I've come across today," he murmured quietly as he passed. It was no doubt loud enough for her hear in any event, and almost absently he dragged the nails of his right hand along the wall at his side.

He's not worth it. He's not worth it. He's not worth it.

"Presumably nastier than nothing I've come across today,"

To hell with it.

"Look, I've had a difficult day today, and would greatly appreciate a bit more respect from you," she said acidly, not a hint of pleasantry in her tone of voice. She knew that he was obviously shooting for her bottons, and was hitting them square in the middle. Normally she wouldn't let herself be swayed by his ignorant comments. Because that was exactly what they were, he knew nothing about her predicament. He was in no position to judge.

It was also clear to her that he did not plan on assisting her, a young, attractive woman in need. So much for chivalry. Perhaps it had died out long ago. What a shame. If she hadn't been so exhausted and aggravated, she might have been offended at his lack of interest. Fortunately, Bella had never been -and will never be- that desperate.

"Oh, I think we all have those days," was Gabriel's immediate, amused answer. Rather than continuing down the direction he was heading in he made a wide turn and stopped himself abruptly. There was a lop-sided grin on his lips. "I think we'd all appreciate a little more respect too..." he added.

"Gabriel Bellamy," he said. "Ravenclaw, sixth year." Gabe extended his right hand towards her without hestitation. Sure, he'd shake hands with a Slytherin. What was she going to do? She obviously could cast spells properly if she couldn't even dry herself off.

He waited for her to take his hand, though whether she ultimately would he couldn't for certain say. The nails of his fingers were slightly longer than normal, impossibly clean and filed... perfectly, if it was really possible to attain such a level. Nevertheless it was just one more clue as to his intrigingly tidy nature.
