Summary:

A doctor named Robert Neville (Will Smith) is the "last man on earth". He's survived a world-wide pandemic that wiped out humanity as we know it. Most of humanity died, while some survived as creatures that come out only at night. The reason Robert survived this pandemic was due to his immunity to both the airborne virus and direct contact. His dog Samantha (Sam for short) is immune to the airborne virus, as all canines are. With Samantha as his companion, Robert searches frantically for a cure to both his loneliness and the creatures that have tried to kill him for the past 3 years.

My Review (contains spoilers):

I'm definitely recommending this movie. While it isn't the best thing since sliced bread, it has a plot that sucks you into it. Personally, I give it 4 stars. The random bits of humor mixed with the deep relationship between Sam and Robert gave the movie more depth than it would have had. The conversations with mannequins also portrayed just how much Robert longed for human contact. Despite it's deep plot, the movie still had issues. My greatest annoyance with the movie were the questions left unanswered and the ending. Why was there a leader of the night creatures (that was obviously what he was) and why was he so determined to kill Robert? Why was he so intelligent? Some people said he simply copied what Robert did, but how did he know to do that? At the end, why didn't Robert simply through the grenade through the hole in the window, rather than die? It was mainly needless, Robert's death, and that was my greatest issue.

I haven't seen it, but from what you've told me, it doesn't have the same ending as the book. My friends have said it wasn't that good, so I might wait a while..

Well, they were still humans in some ways, and needed a type of government system. The largest and most likely oldest was elected the leader. From exsisting so long, he might have learned how to tame the dogzombies and use them against humans, like primitive man. And in the end, Robert knew that the monsters were after him. even if he did kill the leader, the next leader would also hunt him. He just wanted to end in there and now. Does that give a good answer? ^^

Well I haven't been online in a while, but I wonder why someone deleted my former profile. Whatever the reason, I wanted to put in my 2 cents into this convo.

By far, this is the best movie I have ever seen 5+ stars. You were asking why the leader wanted to kill Robert. Well when he kidnapped the one girl out of the dark building, there was the one thing that popped out of the building to yell at him. That was the leader, and I believe he kidnapped his wife/daughter....family member or someone who was important to him. Humans always have a memory bank so when he was alive, he might remember her as that and was angry that he kidnapped her. And he saw the trap that robert set up, so he made one up himself and lured him to the spot. Thats how he was stuck in their trap. When he was picked up by the girl, he told her to ride around until sunrise so that they would not find out where he lived. She didnt hear that and went back to the house. Thats how they found him at his house. Usually with animals in the wild, such as a wolf, they fight to see who is a leader, so that might have been the smartest, and strongest one of all. All the traps robert set up the creatures remembered because they were part human still, so they could still remember how to get back at robert. At the end I think he couldnt stand life anymore and plus, all the creatures were after him. He knew he wouldnt get out of it alive so he killed his self to save the girl and the child. Just throwing the grenade wouldnt do anything cause remember, there are over 5.4 BILLION creatures to keep on coming. So since they were after only him for stealing the one creature, he sacrificed himself to save humanity.

And THATS what the movie is about. Any questions i'll be happy to answer =D

He dies at the end? Wow. I haven't been able to find a spoiler to this film ANYWHERE. That's rare.

Haven't seen this yet but I intend to.
