Nozomi saw the glance from Itagura. She recognized the look well by now from others: Itagura didn't think she was capable. A lot of people underestimated her; it was just the way it was. Nozomi's chestnut orbs hardened, focused. Not this time. No. This time she was gonna make things happen.

Stepping up, Nozomi crossed her arms and looked Kila in the eye. "A little more info would be prudent. For example: what the heck is it?" she demanded, leaving little room for negotiation under her gaze. Whatever the 'subject' was, it killed all of those people mercilessly. The scent was abnormal. Something wasn't right with this...

Kila arched her eyebrows, so the canine had some spunk in her it seemed. "What is 'it'? Well you can already seem that it's a creature beyond simple comprehension, something that shouldn't exist, let alone walk this Earth. I admit, not much is truly known about the creature, despite Bachi's," She jerked her head toward the ferret perched on her shoulder, "scans. I DO know that her make-up consists of mechanical composition, so I have deduced that she is a cyborg were-cat." Fingering a hole in her jeans, she continued, "Everything else is already shown, she uses a blade and kills at incredible speeds. Our sensors lost detection of these men in little over a minute. Her weaknesses aren't obvious, if necessary, I will accompany you for the sake of Bachi's scans, though I will not be able to offer much assistance in battle. I am a very...simple creature as you see."

The ferret on her shoulder snorted in contempt, though Kila did not comment on whatever message he had seemingly sent her. "Any other questions?" Kila withdrew a small draw-string pouch from the hole in her jeans and shook it slightly so that the massive coins clanked together in harmony. "Or are you ready to get started?"

Itagura nodded after a moment of silence to think over this. "That will do." She said in a cooled tone as she glanced back at Nozomi again, seeing that she was up too it her familiar smirk formed again, but only for a brief moment as she looked back to Kila. She didn't question the little creature that rested on her shoulder with this 'scanning' ability. She was ready to go now, feeling she had enough information.

"I would like you to accompany us; I think there would be a better chance with your kind of knowledge helping." She was silent again for another moment, thinking carefully on the facts and the requirements but was sure she could do this now, seeing as they would have someone that knew more information on the target then them. …A cyborg were-cat, interesting. "And like any other Mercenary would, we'll.. Keep you out of harm's way." She added soon after.

She turned to Nozomi. “I more then sure you’ll have your ‘subject’ on time.” She said, but it wasn’t directed to the canine girl, instead she received a smile after she spoke. But she couldn’t help but wonder what the other girl that was there would do. The one with those cat-like characteristics.. She wasn’t willing to work along with a stranger and if she did want to work, she would be competition as far as Itagura was concerned.

*I'll post, just so I don't get behind*

Koneko's thoughts wandered as she quietly ate the roasted rabbit. She would have to douse the fire, and move a good distance away before she settled for the night. Or...she could leave the fire going, which would make any following her think she left in a hurry.

The moon's silver glow filtered down through the trees behind her, making eerie patterns across the sand that wasn't in range of her fire. Koneko stared at them for a few moments. They danced or shifted across the sands as each breeze, different in strength, inspired the leaves above.

It was strange. In the same breath, this both inspired and discouraged Koneko. Her mind was made up, but...she couldn't help her nature. Her creators wished her death, and they wished it with horrible determination. Koneko knew that the one in charge of her capture would have a deadline, but when she was not sure. Their life or hers? Koneko wanted to live on. She truly did.

The silky silver patterns that captivated her so allowed Koneko to see in a new light. Innocents died every day. And it was Koneko, who was created for the simple yet malicious purpose of taking lives, who would be killed. She had no choice in her creation. It was forced upon her. And she was to die because of the mistakes of another.

Koneko feared the end of her existence. She had no friends. At the end of her life, she would simply become a warning label in the science books. And as she watched the glittering patterns in their impelling dance, Koneko realized that she would never consciously or willingly wish death upon another being.

She grabbed the longer of her blades and shed its sheath. As she held the naked sword to the brilliant flames, Koneko watched the gorgeous and lethal dance of yellows, reds and oranges on the shimmering surface.

A sudden idea struck her. It was sick and perverse, yet Koneko felt she had to in the finality of her decision. Never again would she try to kill a creature of high intellect with her blades. If someone endangered the lives of innocents, and they were so strong it was inevitable, that would be the only exception. If she broke this exception, she would take her life with as much agony as possible. A final punishment to the end of her sad and deserving story.

Koneko ran her index finger along the dull side of the blade. It would not cut. Severely bruise the flesh, yes, but it would not slice her finger. She flipped the blade. To ensure that she had made the right decision, she decided to feel a fraction of the pain that each blade had inflicted upon other souls.

Koneko drove a finger across the entire blade's length, refusing to even wince as the blade dug into her flesh. Koneko then lightly bandaged her finger, cleaned her blade, and re-sheathed it.

'Maybe the finger isn't the best place? No. It is the perfect place. This way, I shall feel the agony every time my finger so much as brushes against an object.' She thought to herself, grabbing her shorter katana to repeat the process. She would do this on every finger. Then she lightly pack them with salt and better bandage them. The long-lasting pain would be her reminder until it became force of habit.

"Here I am, all the masochist." Koneko laughed quietly to herself, in dry humor. As she sliced each of her fingers, all with different blades, the ironic realization dawned on her. She had 10 blades altogether. That meant a single cut per blade.

Koneko finished, and as she tried not to wince as the salt scorched her wounds, she knew that running was no longer an option for one who refused to fight back. A bitter-sweet thought struck her. Why she would do this, she knew not, but do it she would. But it would be an offer, not a command. Koneko knew her life wouldn't last long anyways, as it was against her nature not to dance in the ribbons of crimson and silver.

*GRAH. I AM SO FAR BEHIND. I'll try and play ketchup now. -.-;*

The hours passed as the sun set beneath the horizon, and Thorn STILL had no idea where she was going, or where it was she wanted to go.

And what's worse, Taihen and Taiyou were getting hungry.

When they got hungry, the twins got kind of testy as well...

"Cut it out," Thorn ordered rather tiredly as Taiyou and Taihen started to spit and claw at each other. "You both know I don't approve of cannibalism."

This made the cubs stop, albeit reluctantly. Suddenly, a delicious smell wafted past Taihen's nose, and his stomach gurgled in protest.

He couldn't take it anymore.

Gathering what strength he had left, the white tiger cub whisked past his "mother" in search of the source of the smell of cooked meat.

"Taihen? Taihen!" Thorn hissed, pursuing the disobedient cub with his sister at her heels. Taihen paid the dark-skinned ninja no heed as he sprinted into the brush ahead, desperate for food. He came to a clearing that was settled by a river, where the scent of-roasted rabbit?- was strongest. However, another scent made him wrinkle his nose in disgust. He wasn't sure what the smell was, but it DEFINITELY wasn't something he had ever caught a whiff of in his whole life.

"Taihen!!" Thorn growled, finally catching up to her "son". "What's gotten into you? You don't just run off like-"

A whimper from Taiyou cut Thorn short in her scoldings. The young cub had her terrified green eyes focused on a figure sitting by the fire with the roasted rabbit on it.

At first glance, the figure appeared to be human, but the feline characteristics about her said other-wise, as Thorn surveyed her. With a jolt, the female ninja recognized the girl that held her own quite well against a dozen hidden enemies earlier that day.

The biggest question? Whether this girl would prove threatening to Thorn's cubs.

Deciding not to take any chances, Thorn gently nudged Taihen and Taiyou behind her and crouched down in front of them, her ruby red eyes daring the stranger to even THINK about hurting her "kids."

*There. That should suffice. Gomen nasai! I'll try and post more often after this!*

*Gah!! I can't beleive I missed so much!! Gomen!! Work and life has been so hecktic! Time to play catchup now ^_^*

Yume listened to the three girls converse. 'Job, huh.' she thought listening. 'Someone dangerouse, who I'm more indept to... hmm.' She couldn't make up her mind. Should she help the girls capture who ever, or what ever did this?

She watched as Nozomi accepted right after Itagure gave jer a strange look. A look of unsertanty. Was it truely because she didn't think Nozomi could do this, but because she didn't want this to happen to her friend?

Yume would know that situation from experiance. But she dismissed that from her mind. She didn't have long to decide. And the cat girl did need some money. She couldn't just keep stealing from people, when she hits cities.

Yume sighed. She didn't have much of a choice. But she can't get close to these three, she has to be careful. "All right I'm in. If you don't mind another hand." she spoke her words soft, but you could clearly here some kind of determination. "I am indeted to this 'thing' who killed these men. But no one, no one deserves the kind of death they got." She looked at Kila and gave her a small smile. Then she looked at Nozomi. "I'm sorry for earlier." she then looked at Itagure to see what kind of reaction she was going to get.

*I'm so sorry! I really am!! Work has been keeping me pretty damn busy. It's irritating. And then when I have a day off, I'm no where near my compy. I really need a laptop.... Any ways next! And i'll try to stay caught up!!*

*it's fine Kiya-san. Everyone here has lives offline as well as on. I myself am currently working on a project and doing my summer reading...>.< procrastination just bit me in the ass...XD*

Abruptly, Koneko felt uncomfortable. She couldn't pinpoint why. Her body had tensed of its own accord. Habitually, she scanned the surrounding area with her eyes.

Normally, whenever Koneko felt this way, she was being watched. But people who had tracked her would not have had time to catch up to her, unless they weren't entirely human. Koneko closed her eyes and then threw out her senses.

Her ears caught a couple low rumbles, the rumble of unfed stomachs. It came from downwind, which would be the reason she hadn't noticed earlier. Koneko opened her eyes and stared straight out at the general source of the sound.

"I have a bit left over, if you would care to join me. Or would you prefer to slink around in the shadows all night and steal my possessions as I sleep?" Koneko knew that she had probably hit below the belt with her comments, but she was in a foul mood. Her mentality was jumping fast. She would not kill them, but if they were after her life, would she just let it end? No, she would fight. She would use the dull and un-cutting edge of her blades.

*wow...a short post. YAY!*

At the mention of free food, Taihen bounded out from behind Thorn and made his presence known to the strange feline-like human. Gritting her teeth in frustration, Thorn also brought herself into view, Taiyou padding faithfully by her mother's side. The female ninja was careful to keep her face devoid of any emotion.

She didn't have to try hard; she'd been at this for years.

"My apologies," The 16-year-old began. "My cubs haven't had anything to eat for a few days now. Taihen gets reckless when his belly is empty." Thorn picked up said tiger cub by the scruff of his neck and held him so he wouldn't get up to any more mischief, much to his displeasure.

The white tiger cub knew better than to try and break free of Thorn's grasp by any means, however.

"Does this mean you'll be accepting my invitation to dinner, then?" Koneko inquired with less venom. Her curiosity was near breaking point. This teen had tiger cubs with her. Relatively tame tiger cubs at that. Koneko forced herself not to think of the word "cute", but she knew that was what they were. Koneko realized that the pleasantries were not yet over, and nearly slapped herself for being so untactful.

"By the way, my name is Koneko. Raisakoto Koneko. And yours would be...?" She asked politely, keeping any previous hostility from her voice.

*Stupid prison adults call "school." -.-*

Thorn bent into a respectful bow before the girl called Koneko.

"Thorn. Just Thorn." The female ninja responded, straightening up. Taihen sensed that things had smoothed over, and he looked up pleadingly into his mother's face, his stomach giving another rumble of protest. Thorn felt a rush of pity for her son, though it only flashed breifly through her ruby eyes. Sighing, she set the young tiger cub back on the ground, and he licked Thorn's hand gratefully before sitting by the fire, apparently waiting for Koneko to feed him.

"Don't you dare eat it all, Taihen. Save some for your sister," Thorn commanded, nudging the shy Taiyou next to her brother to eat. Then the 16-year-old sat down, watching her cubs silently.

Thorn had no intention of eating. If there was only enough for her cubs, then she'd skip out on the meal. Her cubs always came first. It was an instinct she had inherited from her deceased parents...

Subconsciously, Thorn ran a finger down the scar on the left side of her face. She'd never forget what her purpose in life was. Not as long as this scar remained a heavy burden on her face.

*might as well post~*

Koneko did not miss the scar upon Thorn's face. Nor did she miss that the girl gently ran her finger over it as she slipped into the depths of her mind. But this was a subject that she would bring up later.

Grabbing a stick of roasted meat, she tore it off and handed it to the second cub, Taiyou. She would serve the shy one first, as a reward for not being greedy. But she would feed the first, Taihen, next. And then Koneko would be sure that Thorn ate as well, for she looked rather exhausted and thin.

*Wow, I'm just a LITTLE bit behind...>.<; I'll get to postin'!*

Kila nodded as the three perfect strangers agreed to work with her, she felt slightly revolted at her own twisted thoughts of betraying them when she got what she wanted but...that was life. And hers seemed to be gaining a future. The panther, had agreed to her offer of help, that was fine. Kila didn't want to lay all of her cards on the table by telling them of her shape shifting so she played the part of the 'weak human'. Taking a few slightly hesitant steps toward Itagura, Kila dug her hand in the pouch and deposited two large bills in the palm of each of her hired women. "I'm glad you've agreed to work with me, you don't know how much this means to me..."

Bachi inclined his head and nosed Kila's ear, Something is just beyond my sensors, I felt it moving for a while before it reached my dead range, we should hurry now before our target seeks to move again.

"We should get a move on now, before our target moves again." And before the next sunrise is my last... Kila hopped over a stone and walked in the direction that the river flowed, her heart racing slightly with fear and uncertainty, these had to be the strongest people in the area at the time but would it be enough...?

*Ah, I'm just a bit far as well.*

Itagura's ears flicked just the smallest bit while her tail continued to sway upon hearing Yume's final decision. So, she wanted to help too? ...No matter, she would just have to make sure that either she or Nozomi got the cyborg to get the rest of the pay. How ruthlessly competitive it seemed, it was simply the way you lived as a mercenary. If they were being paid equally no matter who brought the target then she wouldn't be like this, but they weren't and so this kind of attitude was natural.

But she wouldn't do anything that end up putting them all at risk…

As Kila handed out the bills, Itagura swiftly folded in half and placed it in her front pocket, no words after that. She simply turned and followed Kila as she started off in the direction for the task. Her dark green eyes barely glanced to the two others, as she entered this sort of mode. Getting herself prepared for the encounter.

Yume watched itagure carefully. She saw the slightest flick of her ears. She watched Itagure's tail sway, ignoring the urge to bat at it. 'Damn cat instinkts.' she thought shaking her head.

She took the bills from Kila, watching as her farret whispered something in her ear. yume was amused by this person. Not only that but the farret was adorible! She folded the money and put it in her bloodyed skirt. She fliped her hair amused by Itagure's sense of competitiveness. Must all be a compotiton in this world? the young cat girl wondered, following Kila and Itagure.

As she followed she walked in the flowwing river, as to clean herself up, even the slightest bit. 'This blood will take hours to get out. Damn it.' she pouted scrubbing away, while making sure she stayed on track, and out of the deep and raging flows of water.

Followed by her strange company of three, Kila pushed onward, nodding her approval when Yume attempted to remove some of the blood from her clothes. Of course hemoglobin was not easily swayed at the thought of being removed...especially from clothing. Still, it would make their scent slightly less noticeable. Bachi loosed a massive yawn, flashing small milky white canines to the impending night, it was against his very species to be awake for so long, yet he prevailed.

My sensors are no picking something up,

"The mark?" Kila jumped in excitedly, forgetting for a moment of those behind her.

Once more you jump to conclusions...there are four presences within the vicinity of about 16 clicks.

The seemingly average human suppressed a groan before addressing the group behind her, "Bachi reports that the target is accompanied by three others and they are about 16 clicks away, or approximately 10 miles." Kila marched backwards, taking in the unbelievable party she'd managed to hire. "The night is still young so I assume that there isn't too much of a hurry, but then again there is the struggle you will probably have to endure once we reach our destination..." Her voice trailed off, wondering if she would be able to keep up with them and hide her ability should the three decide to run.

*Yes, Clicks=Kilometers and therefore 1 click=0.6 of a mile.*
