Nozomi blinked, almost in rhythm with the swing of her tail. Her? A mercenary? She could hardly believe her ears. On the one hand, it gave the opportunity to travel and hang out with Itagura. She could finally see more than the park of the city she stayed in.

But on the other hand, a mercenary? On a happen-stance when she was able to watch a t.v., she'd heard about mercenaries. They were supposed to be merciless, ruthless. Murderers. They killed people. Innocents. Unconsciously Nozomi looked down at her hands. Could she really be capable of such a thing? Taking the life of someone's brother. Someone's friend. Someone's love.

Glancing uncertainly at Itagura, she asked hesitantly, "Would I have to... kill?"

The Primal raised a brow when she received that look; she was thinking she would get that same reaction when she told Nozomi she could travel with her. Did she not find being a mercenary not exciting anymore?

But she gave her that smirk again when she asked that question, and in a manner as if it was the most dreadful thing to ask. Itagura shook her head after a moment. "No, of course not. You don't have to kill. It all depends." she said with the roll of her shoulders. "A mercenary just does what's needed according to the job he or she takes. Some mercenaries take up the kind where all they do have to do some damage and if necessary, kill while some would prefer to do less destructive jobs." She explained.

She raised a brow after her explanation. "Where did you pick up that all mercenaries kill?"

Nozomi released a breath she hadn't even realized she had been holding. So she wouldn't have to kill; that was good. Very good. She's been on her own long enough to realize sometimes you have to fight to survive. This wouldn't be too bad. At Itagura's question, she laughed hesitantly. Under Itagura's stare, she shifted on her feet sheepishly. There she was jumping to conclusions... again.

"Um.... blame the news channels?" she joked.

Itagura rolled her green eyes and let out a sigh, of course the news. She should have guessed.. People in cities are feed everything through the TV. Well, at least she saved one person from one lie told by television. "That's alright.." she said and stood up from her seat, stretching her arms above her head and yawned. "A lot of people do get the wrong idea about us when their told by the wrong people." she said as her ears flicked and perked forwards for a moment.

"At least you have me to fill you in on what's true." she took a couple of steps past the sitting Nozomi and looked down both ways of the street. "It will help to keep you alive." she added calmly as she rubbed the back of her neck.

"Are you hungry? It's about time for breakfast.."

Nozomi's chestnut eyes lit up like tinsel on a Christmas tree. All thoughts of killing and mercenaries were gone. As soon as Itagura said the word 'breakfast', Nozomi was up on her feet. "Breakfast?! I'm starving! You mean like a real breakfast? Not random food articles?" she asked, lost in her excitement.

Nozomi couldn't remember the last time she had a real breakfast. Usually she just skipped breakfast or snagged a hot dog from a weary hot dog man. Come to think of it, that hot dog man never did like her...

*I wonder if anyone else will come back again? We've kinda taken over the rp*

Itagura looked down to her and nodded. "What else could I mean?" she said. Seeing Nozomi's reaction to the word she wondered just how the canine girl actually lived before she crossed paths with her. When she had left her home that was about two years ago, she was probably the same age then that Nozomi was now, maybe a bit older. But then again, they grew up differently.

"I don't have anything in mind, so you may pick." she said, leaving the task to where they would eat up to her.

The panther girl wasn't a picky eater, she ate things in the woods just as much as she did in a town so she used to about anything. But she didn't want to have to switch forms just to find a kind of rodent that barely satisfied her.

*Well, the reason Saku-nee isn't joining us is cuz her internet isn't working and that's the same with KaKa-chan. Neko and I were out all day, so she didn't get to post, and Kage isn't on that often, so .... XD*

Starting to walk down one of the paths, Nozomi couldn't help but be excited. First a friend, then a journey, and to top it all of: BREAKFAST!! This morning just couldn't get any better. Involuntarily, visions of pancakes and sausage filled her mind. The maple syrup, dripping off of the cakey food. The smoking smell of fresh link sausage. A cup of ice cold milk to top it all off...

That was when she stopped in mid-stride. Nozomi looked back, embarressed, to Itagura. "Um... do you have money? I have some, but..." she trailed off. It was kind of embarressing to get so excited when it wasn't going to happen. And under normal circumstances, she'd hate to ask for money. From ANYONE! But, she was just to hungry. As if to amplify that, her stomach let out a nice, hardy rumble. Nozomi smiled back nervously, rubbing the back of her head.

*Alright, I see now*

"Don't worry, I have that part covered." Itagura said smoothly, seeming to already know about any money problems there might be. She continued to walk past her before stopping and turning half way to face her. "But next time around," she said, her voice almost teasing. "It will be your turn to pay."

She gestured for her to continue to lead the way. "Just nothing too pricey," she added when she thought about how much she still had in her pocket. She couldn't remember the last time she had taken a job and it paid her well. For a while there were a lot of low paying offers that just barely got a mercenary what they needed by the end of three days.

She almost wished for something of great value to come by, something dangerous to do.

*A) I leave this place for one day and I come back to this?

B) If you look back, the post clearly says 'this' not 'his'. I already knew Redfur was a girl. It was obvious from her writing style.

C) I'm not posting today, I don't have any good ideas.*

*Ignore Kage: we all do. XD Poor Kagey-wagy! Oh wellz! I'm back for now, though I'm supposed to typing my next chappie of my story... (is putting it off). Oh, and Kage? I updated NSMH. And my story, Soul of a Flame, is on here in the Misc.*

Giving Itagura a weak grin, Nozomi took the lead as they continued to walk. She couldn't remember the last real meal she had had. The smells of breakfast just sang through her nose. At one point, she suddenly just froze. Slowly, her eyes turned to the wooded area of the park. Her tail abruptly stopped swishing and her ears quirked.

She could've sworn she'd heard something. Straining her ears, Nozomi could make out a distant sound. It resembled... arrows? Sheathing metal? Her eyes unwavering and unmoving, Nozomi asked, "Would it be weird for me to tell you I think someone's in trouble?"

Itagura stopped just a second right after Nozomi stopped. "Hm?" her tail swished side to side slowly as she studied the look on the canine-girl's face. What was it that she found more interesting then breakfast? She perked her ears when she started talking and remained silent and still and slowly turned her gaze to those woods as well. Her tail flicked as she shook her head.

"Of course not." She said.

She heard the noises as well, the arrows and the clash of metal. Almost clearly, but she chose to ignore it. As a mercenary she did give help when it was needed... But thought this one did not require her help. She wasn’t earning anything.. and it sounded like she didn't really need to offer help so she didn't pay too much mind too it. But with Nozomi here, she was sure she would have a different idea on this.

She sighed and placed her hands on her hips, that little smirk starting to form.
"What do you want to do about it?"
Let's see how she would do on her first day as a mercenary.

Nozomi felt relieved to know she wasn't just hallucinating. But it also it made her worry more now that she was sure someone was in trouble. She heard Itagura's soft sigh behind her; Nozomi could sense the almost hesitance in her question. But she could almost feel her smirking.

What did she want to do about it? Someone was in trouble. She wanted to help. But she might get hurt. Then again, she had Itagura. And in her heart, she felt it was important to help, no matter the cost.

Nozomi half-turned to look back at Itagura. A firey determination lit in her chestnut orbs.

"I want to help them!"

Itagura nodded causally. She was sure she would do that and actually didn't mind that. ...She wondered how she might have reacted if she didn't want to help. Her smirk got bigger at the thought, it didn't matter now. She took a step towards the woods, cooling off that smile and looked almost serious, but at the same time she seemed like she was waiting to do something like this for a long time now.. Like she had been waiting for this kind of excitement for ages.

She shifted her weight again to one foot as she kept her eyes on the forest and glanced to Nozomi, her emerald’s holding a sort of gleam in them. "Then let's go help." she said simply.

She looked forward to seeing how the girl would handle the situation, how she could actually help someone in need. Would she really be cut out to being a mercenary, or at least be taught to work in the career.
