Apistogramma viejita Locality: Cano, affluent of Río Yucao, Meta, Colombia. Temp: 23 – 30 Deg Celsius 74 – 86 Fahrenheit Size: 5 - 6 cm 2 – 2 ½ Inches Water: Like acid water Ph 5.5 – 6.5 with a low Nitrate level so frequent water changes are a must. Feeding: Will take small live food, frozen food, flake or small pellets. Tank Setup: Best kept in a tank with a minimum length of 2 feet (60cm), with plenty of hiding places and a water flow that is not to turbulent. Breeding: Breeds in small caves or hollows in wood and will have approximately 40 eggs which the female will guard, parents can be left together The fry are slow growing and will mature in about a year. Temperament: Peaceful Summery: A beautiful dwarf cichlid that is easy to keep if you maintain low nitrates Best to have a large female to male ratio, but can be kept as a single Pair as long as the female has plenty of hiding places as the male will chase her if he is in breeding condition.
