Apistogramma viejita

Locality: Cano, affluent of Río Yucao, Meta, Colombia.

Temp: 23 – 30 Deg Celsius 74 – 86 Fahrenheit

Size: 5 - 6 cm 2 – 2 ½ Inches

Water: Like acid water Ph 5.5 – 6.5 with a low Nitrate level so frequent water
changes are a must.

Feeding: Will take small live food, frozen food, flake or small pellets.

Tank Setup: Best kept in a tank with a minimum length of 2 feet (60cm),
with plenty of hiding places and a water flow that is not to turbulent.

Breeding: Breeds in small caves or hollows in wood and will have approximately
40 eggs which the female will guard, parents can be left together
The fry are slow growing and will mature in about a year.

Temperament: Peaceful

Summery: A beautiful dwarf cichlid that is easy to keep if you maintain low nitrates
Best to have a large female to male ratio, but can be kept as a single Pair
as long as the female has plenty of hiding places as the male will chase
her if he is in breeding condition.
