Just wondering if people can help me

i would like to hook a 15 inch sub from a car to my home stereo system which has an amplifier etc.

positive if can b done but any help in explaining to me connecting the wiring etc. would b great

Actually it probably can't be done. Reason being is that most car speakers are either 2ohm or 4ohm while house speakers (and stereos) are 8ohm. It's been quite awhile since I've had to look for stuff like this, but there may be a gadget that will allow you to hook up the woofer...but I don't think so.

You'll destroy the amplifier (or pre-amp) in the home system if you do this. Although you may get away with keeping the volume down low....but I don't recommend this.

This is of course assuming you're in the US. I don't know the ohms of speakers in other countries.

if you wanna intergrate the woofer with a home amp speaker setup then you will need a crossover and yeah like ZL says your car ones are like 4 ohms (6 at best from memory) and its best not to.

check the back of you're sterio, mine has a 4ohm/8ohm switch (sherwood)

That's pretty cool. Must be a "new" feature as it's the first time I've heard of it. Granted I haven't cared about stereo systems in a few years (don't have the $$ to get the ones I really want so why bother torturing myself :D ).

actualy it's wekll over 10 years old :D might be it's just a verry OLD feature.
