Scientific Name : Otopharynx Lithobates Common Name : Sulphur Crested Lithobate Country Of Origin : Africa (Lake Malawi) Size : Males 16cm females slightly smaller Diet : Omnivorous, will accept all foods. Tank Zone : All Sex : Males are a deep blue with a white or yellow/gold dorsal fin, and a white or gold coloring down their foreheads. Females are brown/silver. They do change with the variant. Temperament: Can be aggressive when breeding otherwise fairly calm. Breeding :Mouth Brooder Tank Setup : Rocky Malawi biotype Temperature : 24°C - 27 °C PH : 8.0-9.0 Hardness : 9°dH - 15°dH General Information Avery good looking fish, males are quite striking and overall a very interesting fish to keep. Breeding Info A common mouth brooder. The male makes a spawning site, by creating a crater in the substrate. Females can be separated after spawning to achieve higher birth rates. Comments Very beautiful fish, however before and after the spawning process the male harasses the female a lot so the more females the better. |
