Ok as I see it, Se. John McCain has been pushing to be our President for years and apparently the Republican Party Voters haven't seen him as the Banner Bearer for their Conservatives views as they have previously felt comfortabe enough with. This time around, no real qualified Republican Candidate other than imo Newt Romney, impressed them enough to lead the charge against the Democratic Wing of Congress so John McCain the de facto Candidate of Choice when we know this truly isn't the situation at all.

Regardless, whether John McCain has good ideas or not, maybe we should consider a new course of action just to see if for nothing else, what will happen. Sen. Barack Obama , might be the fresh air the Country needs for nothing other than to see how a Junior Senator approaches the woes of our Country with a Democratic Majority in the House & Senate. Man it's like having a Blank Check and We, the People should begin to see wave after wave of social entitlements coming our way, while our taxes our lowered at the same time. I know it sounds to good to be true but they say it can be done under an Obama Administration and I'd like to see how he does it. How about you?

Are you familiar with Google trends? It reports search volume over long periods of time so that you can view trends for various search terms. In addition, it makes it extremely easy to compare the trends for different terms over time. Searching on the Internet indicates some interest in whatever is being searched for.

Check out this link: http://www.google.com/trends?q=ron+paul%2C+john+mccain&ctab=0&geo=all&date=all&sort=0 Notice that the interest in McCain peaked right around the time of the Republican National Convention? That was the only time McCain exceeded Ron Paul's peak which was in the very early part of this year. Also take notice of the second chart below the main one, that shows news media coverage. Why would Ron Paul's news coverage barely register while he obliterated McCain during the same time period in search interest?

On the graph you'll see that during the last 3 quarters of 2007 the interest in Ron Paul continually grew and no other Republican candidate came close to the interest he was getting, real interest of the people and not just news interest. But at the same time all the other candidates were being covered in the major media by nearly a 100 to 1 ratio.

By the end of 2007 Ron Paul had received more donations from the military than all the other candidates combined. What does that say about the military's faith in McCain the war hero?

There was more interest in RP than any other Republican candidate at the time, but Fox News blocked him from their debate in very early January. Right at the time of peak interest in him. The interest in him was so great that it far exceeded the interest in all the other Republican candidates and nearly exceeded the interest in all of them combined: http://www.google.com/trends?q=ron+paul%2C+john+mccain%2C+rudy+giuliani%2C+mike+huckabee%2C+mitt+romney%2C+fred+thomas&ctab=0&geo=all&date=all&sort=0 Fox had no true basis for excluding Ron Paul. Pretty much immediately after Fox News blocked Ron Paul from their debate is when interest in him began to crash. He started being reported as a fringe candidate simply because Fox News excluded him from the debate, all the while the interest in him (as well as massive grassroots fundraising) was staggering to say the least.

Then in early February nearly all the media started reporting that Ron Paul dropped out of the race. It was an outright lie, but it was in the media everywhere. He actually dropped out of the race in the middle of June. That was the second big and seemingly fraudulent blow to his campaign.

There is so much to this story I would be surprised if a number of books don't end up being written about it.

When it became apparent that "the powers that be" chose McCain, he was literally shoved down our throats. There were countless reports of Ron Paul supporters being given incorrect dates or times for key local party meetings. Countless GOP party rules were violated, the worst being Nevada in which the party leadership literally turned off the lights and walked out of the state convention after Ron Paul supporters had the controlling vote. The party leadership fought against Ron Paul tooth and nail in every way that they could.

There is simply too much info, I could go on forever about this. It all simply stacks up into a huge pile of dung in terms of what the GOP did to their rising star.

I can only imagine that the establishment was against RP because he is literally against them. Ron Paul is not a friend to the status quo, not at all. My guess is that they, the political establishment, feared him because of their own selfishness. Everyone in Washington seems to thrive on unchecked power.

Going back to the graphs on Google Trends, I can now only imagine how much higher Ron Paul would have gotten if the Republican establishment and media did not drag him back down.

Regarding Obama, I have no problem with giving the guy a chance. I don't trust him any more than I trust McCain, though. I honestly feel that both of them are only going to make things worse for America in the long run.

Any idea where the money for that will come from? That's the big problem that I see. Our nation is basically insolvent. If it wasn't for China and our other foreign lenders we would be in a mess much worse than the current.

How much debt can we take on before America is no longer credit worthy? If they ever really need to resort to firing up the printing presses.... I don't even want to think about the ramifications of that sort of action. Scary isn't even strong enough of a word.

We *might* have a little more money available to spend if Obama ends the war, but it will not be enough. Social entitlements for the baby boomer generation will be off the charts and the U.S. does not have the money to cover it all. The money is gone and there will not be enough workers to pay for it all on a per entitlement receiver basis.

The ex Comptroller General of the U.S., David Walker, tried for years to get the politicians to do something about our fiscal problems. No politicians are interested in ceasing to spend money, because that is all they know how to do. Walker resigned because of this (from a position that has a 15 year appointment without any sort of risk of being removed in order to keep the top accountant of the U.S. from being beholden to any sort of political pressure). He is now chairman of a foundation with the goal of educating the American public on these issues. You can watch a condensed version of the movie that the foundation recently produced (it was in theaters a few months ago, for a single night): http://www.iousathemovie.com/

The federal government is supposed to protect our liberties and instead they are going to bankrupt our country.

Last week I was watching CNBC and the host was discussing the bailout with 3 experts. One said no way, the other said absolutely yes and the other said only with big changes. The host threw out a quick question about the future, in regards to entitlement programs, specifically social security. ALL THREE of the experts laughed a bit. They all agreed, the money will not be there in 20-30 years. The BIG issue with regards to entitlements will be medical care related.

Our governments (federal, state, local) are such a mess that even government retirement plans are at serious risk. In New Jersey the governor is trying to take out I believe it was 500 million from the state workers pension plan in order to help bailout more bankers. And NJ is 30+ billion in debt. We have the highest property tax in the nation, average is greater than $5,000 per home. State income tax. State sales tax (that was increased not long ago). All sorts of other taxes and fees. None of that stuff, other than property tax, even existed in NJ 50 years ago.

Ok, I must stop now... :)

I'm amazed that you carried that much knowledge & passion for American Politics my friend. There are sections of your Post I'd like to Post on Off-Topics. I am currently writing a piece that clearly illustrates "How did Obama become our 44th President" I promise that it will not prove to be a glowing example of how great & grand our Nation has become but rather a grim reminder that in American Politics, it has little to nothing to do with what you know but who you know that can get you what you want.

First you find a support group and you determine who your opponent(s) will be. One section of your Team devotes 100% of their time, constructing ways of eliminating the competition will another Team of Supports, strategizes on honning your message to perfection. You test various slogans to see which gets the most positive response and you build your theme around that.

What many people don't recognize was, during a rally in New Hampshire, someone in the crowd yelling out the infamous "Yes, We Can" in response to Obama's plea that they would take New Hampshire's prize. Yes, We Can became Obama's Mantra that the Country simply believed was a motivating message from Obama that pointed towards his dream of a United Country. Even his Key Note Speech during the 2004 John Kerry's Nomination as the Democratic Candidate, "We are not Red Stated or Blues but the United States" was not written by Obama.

Barack Obama, is a protegy of Dr. Martin Luther King & Rev. Jeremiah Wright's School of Gospel Preaching. He has learned to use his articulation to his advantage. I admire him for that but when the dust settles, he will soon learn, that rhetoric will not move this Country in the direction it needs to go.

I guess you can say, I'm not a big fan. However, I am happy to have lived long enough to see a Black Man elected as President. Now I hope to see a woman gain that honor as well.
