For the first time in my lifetime, I'm hearing the phrase "First Time Voter" having real power in this political process. But is this actual or what the Media is trying to tell you? What I believe is a fact are the following ... White Middleage to Older Men have ruled Politics in America for more decades than I have been alive and their reign has come to an abrupt end. Now, the groups with the 'Power to Determine' are 1. Young Voters (between 21 - 30) 2. Hispanics 3. Blacks 4. Women ______________________________________________________________________ These groups have come to a place where they are no longer allowing White Men to make the decisions on how their lives will be shaped. So what do Politicians do to attract these groups? You change your message depending on where you are in the Country or you stick to one message that you've shaped to hopefully cover everyone? For Senator Hillary Clinton, being a woman is a huge obstacle to overcome. she has to portray herself as tough as a man yet sensitive enough to present a different perspective than what we've had thus far. But how does a woman make a Hispanic Man feel about her as Commander in Chief? How do Young Voters see a woman as the answer to their future issues in this economical World? She has the support of women more so on ideology than her rhetoric. What would electing a female to the highest office in the land of America mean for the Glass Ceiling women still contend with these days? I'd say it would probably move Women's struggles for equality ahead many steps but that support is a very narrow margin. Senator Barack Obama, placed himself in the light of a new beginning for American Politics. So the young voters see him as the person who will transform Washington include a real life, "Kinder Gentler Governmental System" (whatever that means) To be quite honest, I suppose the point there is, if Obama is President, all proposals that go to the floor that promise programs that benefit Americans will no longer fall through the cracks on be bogged down with pork and he will make certain they are signed and put into practice. But a Proposal that may benefit me and my household may not benefit you and yours. Let's take NAFTA (North American Free Trade Agreement) for instance, this is an agreement for Trade between the United States, Mexico and Canada that was actually a revised version of previous agreements between these two Countries in the past. NAFTA was formulated and approved by Congress in 1994 during the Clinton Administration. Although applauded by most, many found this newly reformed agreement mostly advantageous to Canada & Mexico than the US. The problem with NAFTA is still debatable depending upon where you live. For many regions of the USA, jobs have been made or lost. In the South Western States, NAFTA has been beneficial economically. I will talk more about NAFTA in its' appropriate section. So back to the young Voters > After the amazing results of the Iowa Caucus where Senator Barack Obama seemed to have made much more appeal to the young voters than any of the other Democratic Candidates, the Obama strategy made a swift decision to capitalize on this phenomenon and shift their focus to those Voters, understanding and essentially betting on their ability to galvanize the Nation with their new found enthusiasm that would hopefully persuade oder Voters to follow suit. The assumption was basic, if we can energize the Young Voters by seemingly giving them something to once again believe, in regards to our National Government, we just might be able to get at least the parents of these kids to join us as well. The concept is simply this, at some point, the old established Law Makers of Congress can't stay there forever and if our Youth are turned off by the Federal Government, then we will have a serious situation if we find ourselves with no new Leaders to take over, so if Barack Obama can attract these young Voters and get them engaged in the process once again, this should make great inroads to solving this dilemma. Is it Politics as usual? Well I have my theory about this but I will remain neutral on this, until after the Nominee's coronation. If you wish to actually make a difference in Society, you must first get yourself elected to a position of influence. Being President of the United States, isn't a bad place to start. However, the terminology "Make a Difference" is suspect at best depending on who you're targeting. You hear many Politicians, especially on the Democratic side, say they plan to lower the Tax burden of those making less than $50,000 per year and increasing the Tax burden for those making considerably more. Well this is all great Theater at best and has been proven to generate votes But is it realistic ? We've heard this rhetoric for countless Presidential terms and it has yet come to pass. Why You Ask ? Just think about what it cost to run a Campaign, think about who generates Jobs in America, think about how our economy is structured and then if you get close to understanding who actually holds the Keys to Washington, you begin to understand it is almost impossible for Politicians to slap the hand that feeds them. I'm quite certain, almost every if not all Political Candidates running for something, will tell their financial supporters, "Listen, you may hear me tell the people I'm coming after you but don't worry, it's what I have to say to get elected as you know" I'm going to end by saying this people, DO NOT BE DECEIVED BY POLITICIANS TELLING YOU THEIR SUCCESSFUL BID FOR OFFICE WILL SUDDENLY MEAN THIS LAND WILL INSTANTLY BECOME THE LAND OF MILK & HONEY FOR ALL. We have allowed ourselves to be far to dependent on Foreign influence. We are no longer in position to make demands in the Economical World. Incase you are not aware, Americans no longer own America. America is own by many Foreign Backers, like China for instance. If you'd really like to know who owns our Country's biggest Financial institutions, you can either do some research on the subject or maybe wait a bit until I get a chance to put together a list of Bank and Real Estate owned by Foreign Concerns. So the bottom line is this, we want the youth to get involved in Government but getting involved is more than just being able to go to the Polls, it's also knowing what you're doing. Think about this for a moment, when you pull that level or drop that ticket in the receptacle, you are influencing the lives of every American and their families. You can Vote based upon you're own personal beliefs but Voting has National consequences. Please take what you do seriously. Sometimes you can Vote for a person that represents change for the majority rather than the few. |
