Aside from the 1st Season of Survivor, I've been a consistent viewer of this program and I did in fact catch the final episode of the 1st Season. I have to say after each Season, I find myself declaring I will never watch this show again but alas I also find myself strangely fascinated by the interactions of the Contestants each and every time. Many people believe this Show is completely staged for the purpose of entertainment and still others maintain, what you see is the way it is. Although all acknowledge for an hour show, much is left out when you consider you're watching approx. 4o minutes of a 72 hour timeline. 72hrs equals 3 days which represents the frequency of Tribal Counsel Voting. For any who are not fans of this Show and have no idea what it's about, simply this: A small number of Contestants come together on a given location void of civilized comforts such as food, shelter, household conveniences like bedding, toiletries, change of clothing, electricity, communication devices, etc. They are essentially placed in an area and left to provide for themselves as if they were stranded on an island with anything. There are many other circumstances to this show however I simply wanted to say in this Post that each time I watch this show, it is a grim reminder of how people truly interact with each other for their own personal gain. Survivor is considered a game and somewhere along the line, it was established that in order to win this game, deceit and competitiveness must come into play. If you win this Game, you win One Million Dollars. So there is great reason to master the Art of Deception. What truly annoys me about this Show is how easy people learn to deceive while looking you directly in the eyes and swearing on the most sacred of entities. It has become common place for someone to claim they swear on their mother, father, children, the bible or whatever other symbolization deemed far more valuable than a mere game. When you consider the integrity of a person versus financial gain, you'd tend to think integrity should win each time and yet, integrity has never commanded high reverence when one considers they might win a large amount of money. So is this Sow all about demonstrating to the World of its' Viewers, that money is in fact the Seed of Evil? Money can and has the ultimate power of persuasion? People will do whatever they must in order to obtain money even if that includes turning against your brother or swearing on the lives of that which you supposedly hold dear to your heart? I believe Survivor does in fact demonstrate just how greed determines our lives. Trust is the most needed element in Society in order for social structure to prosper but greed is the ingredient that has kept mankind at its' lowest levels throughout the history of Mankind and I see no end to this problem as yet. |
