Mr. Chubby 'The Twist' Checker who's hit single 'The Twist' that launched a dance craze which is still incorporated in many of the dance moves today (loosely) blasted on the Scene when I wasn't even old enough to spell my name, is mounting a Come Back. Yeah yeah, I know, what's that all about? I'm not a big fan of Come Backs honestly. I'm a believer that Come Backs after a Performer has been away from the Scene for far too many years can do nothing but harm or tarnish the memory of how important they might have been to the contribution of Arts at the time they were in theiir Prime. Or in other words, for the Youth of Today who never heard of Celebrities like Chubby Checker, it's better someone dig out an old Album rather than see them prancing on a Stage barely able to move and also given very few are able to maintain the vocal prominance & quality they had when they were in their teens or twenties. I recently saw 'The Who' performing at their Lifetime Achievement Special last month and not for nothing but Roger Daltry just doesn't have it anymore. I mean no where even close to when he was able to actually sing without the cracked notes but it was sad to see them try to put across any resemblance of the act they once mastered. Well now it's Mr. Checker's turn to turn off the younger Audience who will continue to look upon their parents or rather their grandparents are wonder, what in the World did you see in that guy? Ok, I'll through a bone to the Come Backs, When Slyvester Stallone commissioned the Late Godfather of Soul, Mr. James Brown, to sing and perform in Rocky 4, it was not only good but the song written especially for the Movie appropriately became a #1 Hit on the Pop Charts. More recently, Michael McDonald, formerly of The Doobie Brothers and Steely Dan, could never go wrong in mounting a Comeback given he's always been more talented than his years to start with so even if he were to loose 50% of his ability to play & sing, it would still be better than 80% of the current Performers out there today. Having said that, here are two examples of Chubby Checker's newest release which he's named 'Knock Down the Wall'. The first is taken from a YouTube Posting and the 2nd is from the Fox TV Station, |
