This week: a post-mortem of Evolve, that game Turtle Rock Studios tried to make, only for it to die long before it had a chance because of all the bullshit. No thanks to 2K, most likely. Also, Ubisoft's The Division is getting "premium currency" now. Because apparently publishers are terrified of the word "microtransactions" now, despite the fact they keep trying to shoehorn them in. |

Evolve also demonstrated that trust is indeed a finite resource in the gaming community, and short of doing something really fucking extrodinary it can be very difficult to earn it back once you show the scummiest of your colours. Stage 2 was only an admission that they were originally wrong, not a pledge that they would ever improve meaningfully. I like to think pretty much the same thing happened to Battleborn. Releasing alongside Overwatch was never going to end well, but a big bunch of people boycotting it out of spite for Pitchford's handling of Colonial Marines and Duke Forever probably didn't help. This week: Just as SQUARE ENIX was shocked by Bravely Default's massive success in the west, CAPCOM has seemingly been flabbergasted by RESIDENT EVIL: biohazard's global success, as it sold over 2 million units in just three days. Also, a follow on from last week's Oh, Ubisoft! post-segment: Ubisoft is a lying bastard, as The Division was initially marketed with the promise that there would never be microtransactions, even for cosmetic stuff. Guess what? Microtransactions. Exclusively for cosmetic items. |

This week: Gamestop. They've been pulling shit like the "Circle of Life" program for years. But now it's really bursting out into the limelight. All because they only receive like 2% off of new product sales as a result of the publishers/manufacturers being greedy little fucks. As Sterling says, both the games industry and Gamestop are actively trying to fuck over the other whilst simultaneously being all buddy-buddy. Except everyone can see both faces without even having to look very hard. |

Man I don't even care about the video's subject anymore, that Bowling Green Massacre bit at the beginning gets more hilarious the more you look at it. |

This week: If Nintendo's so hell-bent on twisting copyright and fair use laws to their benefit, ignoring all the shit that doesn't benefit them, well, Jim doesn't see why he should have to do the same. (Standard disclaimer: Jim is in no way directly condoning piracy. But he's kinda pissed either way because Nintendo is infringing on his own IP, The Jimquisition. Thank god he funds it outside of YouTube.) And because I apparently missed posting them while they were relevant, let's look at the other two Nintendo episodes he did recently. Nintendo needs to stop the bullshit with its Virtual Console. No more drip feeding one game a week, at best. And don't fucking make people pay for the same game they've bought three times over by now. Remember that Switch introductory video? That short 3 minute one? Yea. Jim was looking forward to the system then. Possibly even excited. Then the Presentation and everything else after it happened. Wonderful. |

Official update from Jim Sterling pending, but the news has been circling the Internet for at least six hours now. What happened? The lawsuit filed by Digital Homicide's Romine has been dismissed. With prejudice. Neither party owes the other a cent and Romine has also agreed to leave Sterling alone. Forever. No more DMCA claims or accusations of any kind. It's over. Finally. |

This week: The long awaited Jimquisition episode. Where Sterling is finally able to publically talk (in the format that has the largest audience) about the whole shitshow that was James Stanton v. James Romine. Buckle up 'cos this is a fourty minute episode. Edited by Luffy Foxtrot, Feb 27 2017, 03:16 PM.

Not even a week after finally closing the lid on the cautionary tale of Digital Homocide and why you shouldn't do that thing, somebody immediately tries to do that thing. Do these people have a fucking death wish or something? |

This week: Regardless of your stake in the industry, for whatever reason, Horizon: Zero Dawn selling well as a new IP is nothing but good things. Shame most people will fail to realise that. Also here's last week's video, where Jim talks about weapon durability systems and also mentions the titwanks complaining about his Zelda review. |

This week: Jim Sterling, TotalBiscuit and one other YouTuber whose name I forget were recently invited to Valve's headquarters in Seattle to discuss the future of Steam. Rather than take responsibility for their own fucking product and personally exercise quality control, Valve has proposed a number of "solutions" that will simply make the shit harder to find... instead of getting rid of the shit altogether. Still, there's hope that things will work out in some way, even though all these new things have the potential to also be exploited to hell and back like Greenlight was. On that note, the potential entry fee for Steam Direct? Apparently some big name corporations (names were not given) had contacted Valve to request the fee be increased. Take from that what you will. |
