The only thing I regret is that they acquired the rights to Duke Nukem back when they still had any power to... and are presumably just going to sit on the IP and do nothing with it now.
Apparently, they want help developing a new Duke Nukem game. At the very fucking least, they're sort of acknowledging that they have no clue how to handle it.

That would imply they have any idea of how to handle games period anymore without quietly outsourcing to somebody else.

Also oh my god those Pitchford quotes how can he possibly be this obnoxious about literally everything even Don Mattrick wasn't this bad

Gearbox deserves no help, seeing as they fucking steal money from publishers to work on their own projects instead of the ones they're hired to do.

Here's this week's episode. Kind of a miss for me. I get what he's trying to explain, but in the case of Rainbow Six Siege and The Division, which he focuses on, I think the way Ubisoft is currently advertising the online play is kind of a neccessity. As unrealistic as it'll be when the games actually release, especially on Xbox platforms.

I really don't see the problem at all; seeing as these are TRAILERS, they exist for the sole purpose of advertising. It's like saying that 90s toy ads were evil because they depicted said toys moving around on their own and flying in the air (hell, they made an entire movie based around that concept). Nothing wrong with increasing your product's appeal plus maybe, just maybe, having people "act" out a real multiplayer experience might actually teach the narcissistic dudebro community something about proper online etiquette and respecting others.

So, gonna have to take Jim down a peg and say Ubisoft actually won this one. If this is how trailers are done these days, then I'd love to see more. It's that kind of shit that gets me pumped to play with my homies and have a real fun game going on.

Let's talk about Atari-but-not-quite-Atari-because-this-is-a-company-that-decided-to-rebrand-itself-as-Atari-to-save-what-little-face-they-had-remaining. And then they fucked up regardless.

And here's the Jimquisition Live panel Stering did at SGC 2015 in Frisco, Texas. A few video issues here and there, but Jim couldn't do anything about it.

He pretty much said everything I've been saying all along. Bravo, Mr. Sterling. Another job well done!

Yes, Jim made another Konami episode. Rather than use existing sources, though, Jim reached out to a handful of whistleblowers instead this time, and there's a few surprising allegations in there.

This week: Walking Simulators. Games like Dear Esther and Journey that are less about destroying your enemies and more about exploring the world. Some, like the former, do a terrible job while others, like the latter, manage to create a world and experience you actually want to be a part of.

The irony is that this episode is just as fucking boring as the subject genre. I was only able to watch long enough for him to make the point of having to step your game up in other areas once you take out fundemental elements of game interactivity, and that's something I wholeheartedly agree with - for all the world craft that Dear Esther boasted, it was extremely rare that anything bar the core path was ever useful or meaningful, and so many times I longed for a moment where I could actually click on an object and make it do something.

In my eyes if you want to just make interactive narrative simply for the sake of it and nothing else, you're better off making a visual novel. Or hell, one of those choose-your-own-adventure booklets. At least there, there isn't any pressure to maintain a believable illusion of depth and freedom in your game world to tell an immersive tale.

Publisher implements shitty practices in video game > people make a big deal about how shitty it is > Other people say "get over it" > Jim Fucking Sterling, Son, does not get over it.

Thank god for him. And fuck Ubisoft.
