The price factor was a big problem (and admittedly one that isn't even entirely solved by making the base game free either, if you've seen the sheer amount of DLC involved), but it's far from the only one - in fact Evolve was kind of garbage even from the standpoint of being just a normal game, and I honestly thought Turtle Rock knew better than that. It feels like the game only ever got publicity for the same reason Daikatana did - all they had to say is "we made Left 4 Dead" and they basically already had an audience regardless of what transpired next, even if it was fleeting once the game actually released. That they waited the better part of a whole year to overhaul the entire economy of the game seems way too little too late, and is frankly maddening in how stupid it is. Anyway as long as the thread's been bumped, figure I might as well post this. I happened on it by chance a while back and I feel like it's a pretty enlightening look at the game's history to this point. |
