Wow Psycho, that would be shocking if it weren't the story I posted as the OP. I guess when your company starts to resemble a cartoonishly evil corporation, it's hard to keep track of everything they do.

But, fret not my friends, we do have more stories of EA's dickatude! EA is replacing the one dollar Bejeweled Blitz and replacing it with a free version of Bejeweled. The crap comes from the "Blitz" part, and in fact any part other than the core game, being additional DLC, with the same plan as Tetris (may I remind you, that was 30 dollars worth of DLC allowing you to pay for more DLC. For Tetris).

Any hope that PopCap's acquisition by EA would not come with EA sticking it's dick in is gone. At least we still have Plants Vs. Zombies.

[looks up from his Mass Effect 2 gay-Shepard profile he's working on to narrow his eyes at Psycho, then resumes playing.]

Does anyone get the sense that EA is basically the US Government right now? No? Just me?

I like it when people use the word "gay" in any context other than a homosexual one - it only proves that they have the maturity of a five year old, as if their obsession with shooters didn't already do a good job of pointing that out. It's also pretty amusing that he pointed out Skyrim considering the fact that, y'know, it's set in the bloody medival era and doesn't even have muskets, let alone generic modern firearms.

But just for fun, let's play around with his logic a bit.

game - gun = gay
game + gun = -gay
game + gun + Arem = ???

Why am I getting the death glare? D:

And yeah, EA is just pretty much a prime example of how a big corporation shouldn't handle itself. The gamers make the companies and said companies make the games we want, not the other way around.

...yea, none of EA's properties are worth enduring this bullshittery. I will not walk within three steps of the next Burnout game.

Now there's just the problem that Activision still holds the rights for the Spider-Man games D:

About the only thing Actibozos seem to get right is their superhero/comic book/whatever license games (except for the last Transformers game, which blows).

Even their superhero games aren't always up to snuff. Look at X-Men Destiny for instance. The idea for that game was amazing, but wow, it deserved better hands.

EDIT: Ok, I need to ask about the Dead Space series. Anyone play it and like it? It's on my list of games to try next.

X-Men Destiny was a joke, yeah. I'd completely forgotten about it.

As for Dead Space, as far as the first one goes, it's Resident Evil 4 in space. I think the second game got way more action-y but is so chock full of DLC that it makes LA Noir's look like nothing. The railshooter on the Wii's pretty badass though.

The first one is decent. The seconded one managed to be both bloated and rushed. Also, has the new EA plague, online passes and unnecessary online mode (if you do pick up 2, stay far away from the multiplayer).

Oh, I wasn't interested of the multiplayer. It'd be purely single-player campaign for me.

Most of the EA shit has been consistenly ethically questionable--to say the least--but I think I just found the first legitimate proof at what they are doing is illegal.

Someone on GayGamer.net found this in the service agreement for Star Wars: The Old Republic.

Quote:

Hope you read the EULA. :) Section 2B grants Electronic Arts full permission to scan not only active memory (like WoW does when looking for hacks) but also a scan of your harddrives to look for files they think are objectionable.

http://www.swtor.com/legalnotices/euala

"To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, you agree that EA may scan your computer’s memory or hard disk drive to detect or locate any such unauthorized third party program or devices, with or without any prior notice to you at any time."

Last time I checked, legally, the fullest extent is that they cannot scan the computer's memory or HDD without probable cause and a court order, and can only be carried out by law enforcement. Now, I understand what the overall goal is--to prevent hacks and mods--but scanning the HDD is something only the police should do.

Good thing I never buy computer-based products from any game company.
