And EA has no intention of changing that. There are even rumours that the upcoming Dragon Age III will incorporate multiplayer of some kind. Since BioWare is an EA studio, here's something from Fernando Melo about day-one DLC and microtransactions.

The sources asked to remain nameless, but both confirmed that EA had made a billion dollar pass at the Half-Life, Portal, Team Fortress, Dota 2, Counter-Strike, Left 4 Dead and Steam creator. Valve figurehead Gabe Newell was quoted as saying he'd rather let the company disintegrate over time than sell out to a mega corporation. �It�s way more likely we would head in that direction than say, 'Let�s find some giant company that wants to cash us out and wait two or three years to have our employment agreements terminate'.� There is no word on when this attempted buyout may have taken place, but Valve is apparently currently valued at $2.5 billion. Which seems to indicate this was an event that took place some time ago before Steam became such a runaway success. It's possible (though entirely speculation) that EA sought to buyout the market leader in PC digital distribution before developing their own solution, Origin.

EA wanted to buy a digital distribution system that worked because they know Origin is a redundant piece of crap. Steam is the best one out there so they tried to buy them. Good thing Gabe has morals.

Details are mainly nil because the guy doesn't want to talk about it before he can. I'm actually not surprised at the subtitle considering what happened at the end of Dragon Age II. And speaking of Dragon Age, BioWare have confirmed that, on top of Mass Effect 3 continuing to recieve add-on DLC for the near future, they also intend to eventually announce a new game in the franchise.

Criterion is being vague, but a Wii U version may seem possible later down the line.
